I also think it's funny how someone who doesn't work would need time off. Nonsense

Re: Living On A Dime
I get that she makes "simple recipes." But a fried egg recipe? Does the cookbook also have how to make toast or a bowl of cereal too? I am all for simple recipes but that is trolling! And she burned the egg!

Re: Living On A Dime
I'm so glad that someone posted on the latest video on how to fry an egg. . . she must really believe that her viewers are complete idiots. I only watch her videos (as much of each as I can take) to see what she messes up. If you notice, there's never one thing that turns out. She showed the viewers her zucchini bread on a plate... It looked dry and lumpy. It's because she doesn't add the wet ingredients to the dry, she just dumps everything together and hopes for the best. Her banana bread last week caved in the middle - usually it's not done when this happens. She's clueless.
Whomever told her that she's a great cook was a liar...she'd be good on a farm, slopping the hogs.
I wish this board would get active. I thought I was the only person that laughed at her. I know that's kind of mean and immature. I call her entertainment.

Re: Living On A Dime
I have to admit, she's a mess in the kitchen. I am too but watching her videos makes me feel better about my cooking skills. If you know you will be filming a cooking segment, why not make sure you have all the ingredients you need on hand and in reach? I did see some rant from Mike and her about Best Buy and some microwave they bought that broke..it went on and on and on

Re: Living On A Dime
She never measures anything, or has the right ingredients on hand...she's sloppy and nothing turns out. Tawra cannot cook. I am not surprised that she and the rest of the family are always sick, they eat slop.daisy4444 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 11, 2020 5:41 am I have to admit, she's a mess in the kitchen. I saw the Best Buy video as well...if they didn't buy cheap, they'd get a quality product. Mike is usually pretty passive, but he looked and spoke like a lunatic over their broken microwave.
Is is just me or does Tawra yell when she talks..I can't get through an entire video, and Mike creeps me out. He sits at his computer while Tawra is talking like she knows something about cooking..he's always is laughing, chuckling with a creepy smile plastered on his face.
What ever happened with Tawra assistants, they seemed to disappear...Heidi and Janelle?

Re: Living On A Dime
Well, has she been going on her rants/QandA after the cooking shows? I think they have just been posting short edited videos so there isn't the drama from Tawras dumbass and wrong points of view.
She looks on here all the time. People are welcome to post. I post a lot but that doesn't mean I'm the only one that hates her.

Heidi quit a while back, oddly when she was a topic on this forum. I don't know who Janelle is.
I hate that she says "here's the thing" constantly. It shows her lack of vocabulary.

This is Janelle. . . The email bouncer for Tawra. I'd hate to work for Tawra. She's condescending to her viewers, I could only imagine how she treats an employee.Iwasneverhere_0 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 14, 2020 6:34 am Heidi quit a while back, oddly when she was a topic on this forum. I would love to know how much she pays Janelle and Dave for the work they do at LOAD.

Re: Living On A Dime
Before there was Tara jean kellam, there was Amy Dacyczyn. And before there was dining on a dime, there was tightwad gazette.
Amy Dacyczyn was the author of the Tightwad Gazette. It started as a newsletter in the 80’s, and later became 3 books. It was hugely popular.
I was a member of a mommy message board about 20 years ago, and on that message board was a frugal section. I belonged to the frugal board and was a regular contributor. Tawra was also a contributor. She wasn’t just a contributor, but she was also there to promote her book “Not Just Beans”. Whenever she would post recipes or tips from her book, I noticed that a lot of them were taken from Tightwad Gazette, sometimes word for word. I wasn’t really a fan of hers, but a lot of the other women on the board were, so I kept my opinions to myself. I resisted buying her book for a long time, but one day I was in a local shop and saw it on the counter. So I bought it. I just found the book as I was going through some boxes, and paged through it. It reminds me of a fundraiser cookbook for the local VFW. A few good ideas, a lot of stolen material, and a lot of junk. Finding the book just reminded me of my time when I sort of knew her. I don’t know if DOAD is an updated version of NJB, or if she wrote a completely new book.

Re: Living On A Dime
Rubberbiscuit, welcome to this forum. I do believe that Tawra has just been republishing "Not just beans" and adding to it at every republishing to what is now "dining on a dime volume 1."
I also purchased DOAD and upon receipt it was as you described, a cook book for some church charity or something to the like. Flimsy cover, cheap paper, and generic graphics. It is not a book one would want to display and the recipes therein are mediocre at best. I recommend googling these recipes in your own, as that is exactly what Tawra does. Looks up recipes from the internet or thrifted cookbooks and transcribes the recipe into "her cookbook".

Re: Living On A Dime
here's the latest..Tawra said they are quitting youtube. She couldn't take the emails that were negative. She said that she usually doesn't see them but her assistant Janelle usually "takes care of those emails" but was out of town at a wedding. She is done with hearing what people don't want. She gets 10-20 emails, comments from people asking them to come back. Tawra said she was done and tired. She hates her garden at her house. She's tired of sitting. She doesn't rest well. She is going to be showing videos she already shot w/ her mom ..then decide to maybe come back maybe after Labor Day.

Re: Living On A Dime
What do emails about her stupid book have to do with YouTube?
She described the emails, and they all were about how people had opposing thoughts on her book or wanted different things out of the book. What does that have to do with YouTube?
Also, they will be back. How will they advertise their stupid book? Its their livelihood.
Lastly, like I have said many times, what could she be burnt out about? She doesn't work and collects social security, right? Shes a fraud.

Re: Living On A Dime
Yes, Daisy4444, she was basically pleading for praise. In her descriptions for the emails, she said many were writing that they enjoyed the cookbook. However, the few suggestions to add more family pictures or that they liked the spiral bound better has "burned her out." The few days of responding to emails made her want to stop YouTube.
Sounds like she should stop the cookbook because that's what a couple people were complaining about in the emails. She should also stop the blog as that's where the email is posted. She is so dumb, when it rains she blames the soil.
And the car videos are so lazy. Why is she sitting there to film?!

Re: Living On A Dime
These "poor me" videos are a way to get people to send her messages praising her and beg her to stay on youtube. It's attention seeking behavior. A lot of her videos are. She's no where near ready to quit telling people how much smarter she is than they are. She's a best selling, world famous cookbook writer, you know!
Everyone has an opinion... this just happens to be mine.

Re: Living On A Dime
So she is burned out by answering emails and trying to figure out what videos viewers want? Hint to Tawra.. how about changing your attitude and camera presence? Every single opening video she is plopped at the counter holding her cookbook and groaning out an insincere greeting with an appearance of boredom for having to be there. Every single video she attempts to cook some slop, she is not organized, she is usually unprepared, she doesn't measure (she can't pronounce it either), it's always a complete train wreck...the whole time her husband has a pervy smile with his face in the laptop...add in her teenage son with his mouth flapping and her younger son whispering in her ear and fingers in the food.
She has advice on everything, knows everything, everyone else is doing it wrong, from cooking, finance, travel, laundry... Yet her own world is a disaster.
She can't cook. I watch her for the entertainment value. If I served my family that slop she calls a nutritious meal, they'd all get up and go to Burger King.
She has a base following of people that must not know how to boil water. By the comments, they seem to admire her garbage and actually buy her cookbooks. I believe there's another group of viewers like I am...in it for the entertainment and watch to see what other failure she comes up with. Every single meal is a fail.
She brags that she has sold 500,000 cookbooks but talks about having to budget to the penny - she can feed a family of 5 on one chicken for a week...really?
All she does is complain she is sick, she is tired, over worked, her kids are sick a lot too...yet, she can't see that their diet is making them that way.
Maybe she should stop doing YouTube and take a cooking class...and take Jill with her.

YTMD seems to be having upload issues with images so I am just posting a link. I made the cover to my next cookbook using a collage app on my phone. What do you all think?

Re: Living On A Dime
Anyone else notice that she has made a major shift to religion? She used to talk about religion once in a while, but now every video and multiple facebook posts are based on their religion. I "get" that many of these youtube vloggers are fundies or whatever they're called these days, but they are come across very different than her... I suspect she is trying to be more like Amy Maryon or someone that she's been watching that has more subscribers. She is up to something and the shift from "eat better spend less" to "God" is very apparent.
I love your cookbook photo. It looks a bit familiar.
