I find it interesting that all the bf struggles sh e went through, never once she thought about putting Cassidy on her breast, after surgery for comfort. not to eat but to soothe?! Just me? When babies are upset (teething etc) breastfeeding can be used for simple soothing. I guess that would come under nurturing care, so not really Alex’s forte?!

I wondered this. I also wonder how much of the oral aversion is due to the cheek/lip/tongue tie procedure. Normally babies go straight back to bottles/breast so it’s reward for the soreness. But she wasn’t feeding so why do it?

Another completely unnecessary procedure to put cassidy through for views. Nothing more than that.

2 out of my 3 kids had tongue ties - my daughters was the worst the oral surgeon had seen. However the minute it was cut and was put to my breast and she fed like she’d never fed before. My son was the same. They feed for comfort afterwards.

I truly hate to say this or sound mean, but I think God made it hard for them to have kids for a reason. I feel so bad for those kids. All Kingsley wants is a cookie. Alex cries in every video because everything is about her. If she isn’t producing enough breast milk she should give the baby formula and stop being so damn prideful. The kids come first now, Alex.

Oh look, another person has joined the forum just to let everyone know that people who have medical conditions are being punished by god.

One in six women suffer from infertility. It's a medical condition. I hope you realise that to some of us, your belief is as appalling as saying that every 5 year old with cancer deserves it somehow, or that god is sending their family a message.

Thank you. It took my husband and me ****11 years and 5 rounds of IVF**** to have our son. When people say $hit like this, it disgusts me.

Poor Cassidy. It’s criminal that Alex got good medical advice, ignored it then wandered about until someone would come at Cassidy’s mouth with a scalpel

I may have missed something along the way re Cassidys feeding. Is it the feeling of milk in her mouth she doesn't like or a teet? She seems to have been loving her paci for a while now, has Alex been trying her with a bottle recently, pre op?

I’m not too sure about this but I think it has to do they likely don’t wanting Cassidy to expel any unnecessary energy right now.
Because she hasn’t nursed or bottle fed much at all on a while, her “relearning” to nurse may use too much energy right now. And they want all her energy to go towards healing/resting.
She may have got the paci as a soother but also as a start to reintroduce oral feeds...

She may still have an oral aversion, and associates eating with pain. So she might be happy to suck as long as the milk doesn't go anywhere near her mouth.

Phil crying in the hospital room seemed genuine and made me sad. For some reason it seemed to make Alex happy, though. Her smug face when she said “how many times have I said that” when Phil mentioned wishing he could trade places with Cassidy.

Also at one point after crying, Phil basically says his feelings don’t matter and only Alex’s feelings matter and then of course starts praising her. Alex doesn’t refute the statement once.

I’m seriously baffled at their marital dynamic.

That was seriously odd. You’re her parent too, Phil. While he didn’t have to go through the physical aspects of IVF, he was along for the ride and still affected by infertility. And then Alex’s strange speech about how they did all this to bring Cassidy here for others...just such a weird freaking viewpoint.

C was going to feeding therapy, so I think they just had her trying small amounts,or whatever she would take.Mainly so she would eat better post op,I presume

It takes a real twisted, narcissistic savior complex to believe that procreating with your own genetics is a favor to the world. Adoption, embryo adoption or even a donor egg would have still created a sibling/child/grandchild/spouse for someone. But self-obsessed Alex is seriously patting herself on the back for changing the world with her DNA. God she's insufferable.

Just watched the latest video (after not seeing any for ages) and poor Kinsley at the end talks twice about Cassidy's surgery and how her chest will be cut open. Why on earth would they explain the details in such a graphic way to small children? Must be so upsetting for them.

Obviously they would have to explain the scar later once Cassidy is home but they could minimise it by saying "the doctor had to make that mark to help Cassidy, look Daddy has the same." Why traumatise them just before the baby is going into hospital? Makes me absolutely sick.

I didn't watch the latest vlog (I can't even hate watch anymore if I'm being honest), but I was about Kinsley's age when I started taking an acute interest in surgical procedures relating to the human body. Just because she understands what the surgery entails doesn't necessarily mean it's traumatizing for her, especially if she's independently fascinated by medicine and medical procedures.

That said, I can't imagine Alex letting Kinsley even look at anatomy charts or medical dramas, so the fact that she knows so much about Cassidy's surgery is strange.

Kingsley could give her own TEDtalk on the subject of IVF and CHD by this stage.
All she hears her parents talk about is IVF, CHD... oh and god...
Anyways, that child is quite bright, hopefully she’ll have a bright and happy future.
