Re: 8 Passengers: No beds, no food, but mom loves motherhood! | Part 18
Ruby bought a ton of books for the kids and put them on the new book shelf in the school loft, saying these are the books they will read throughout the year. In today's vlog we see Russell and Eve picking a bunch of books at the library. Then Ruby commenting about realizing Russell was displaying some attitude and she chalked it up to being the books he was reading. Sooooo, Ruby the Wonder Mom and Teacher, bought many, many books for reading but "failed" to research them? I'm glad money grows on trees for this family and they can buy so frivolously. Or, Russell and Eve are already bored to death with the books Ruby selected for them. When will she realize she is not homeschool teacher material.
Has the year been up yet that Ruby said she would not buy any clothes for herself. In the vlog, we hear that Julie is wearing a black dress Ruby said she would order for her, but then Ruby wore it to church. Sounds like your daughter ratted you out, Ruby. Also, the red black pattern dress Julie finally got the nerve up to say she did not like, I'm sure will be added to Ruby's closet. Why does she feel Abby's green dress needs taken in. I agree on the length, but certainly no need to make the waist tighter. If these are their Christmas dresses, how boring.

I can't be the only one who thinks that Ruby's reason for censoring some of the books that Russell reads is a bit ridiculous? I mean, if the books contained inappropriate pieces of information that weren't for Russell's age level or if the books were too gory for him, I think that would be a fair reason to take those books away. But to take a book away because there is a misbehaving kid in it? I mean, seriously? In my opinion, maybe some of this "big attitude" that Ruby talks about that Russell is displaying is not because of the books, but because of the harsh environment that he's growing up in with a narcissistic mother who can't take care of her children properly?? And when she mentions this "big attitude" of Russel's, she mentions its because this protagonist in the book he was reading was "super sassy" and "acting very entitled at school" which are both things I haven't seen Russell do. And why is it that when Eve shows this "sassy attitude" it's completely okay, but if Russell does this, it's not?? Yes, books shape kids perceptions of the world, are you gonna only show Russell and Eve that the world is all happy and joyful and that kids should never misbehave because kids are always wrong when they do misbehave and parents are always in the right?? HA! As if. There are misbehaving kids in the world, and A LOT of them have attitude issues because of the people they are surrounded by (their PARENTS being a big one).

Ironic how Ruby talks about the "important things in life" as if she knows what they are. "It is not our skin, and it is not your looks, it is not anything on the outside of you." It's who you are." I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Ruby is the biggest hypocrite ever! I mean, says the woman who spends tons on fake eyelashes, and dying her hair, and getting tons and tons of clothes for herself.

You made an excellent point about Eve and the sassiness being accepted. The reason for just removing the culprit (well, what Ruby thinks is the culprit) is lazy parenting. They believe Russell will always live in the bubble so they will be able to control what he adapts to or shuns in society, so no need to teach him how to deal with what is not appropriate, just remove it, instead of being parents and teaching him right from wrong. Anything Ruby has to deal with more than once with her kids is a nuisance and she will find the easiest way to get rid of it. Never in a million years would Ruby and Kevin feel their children's behavior is due to their perfect parenting. Too bad Russell hasn't read a book with a character who throws himself on the floor, laughing loud and obnoxiously when the attention is not on him--maybe Ruby would then do something about this inappropriate behavior.emma2948 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 09, 2020 9:47 am I can't be the only one who thinks that Ruby's reason for censoring some of the books that Russell reads is a bit ridiculous? How many more vlogs will we need to listen to her crunching on the grapes and fingering many of them.

This turned into a "TedTalk", so I used a spoiler so people can scroll past....
Re: 8 Passengers: No beds, no food, but mom loves motherhood! | Part 18
I thought Julie also was going on accutane because the doctor said she was going to look just like Abby. Which mother really wants to scars a second child instead of intervening in time?
With Russell, I notice that Ruby laughs about everywhere he does, just as she did with Chad. If that behaviour is due to reading books that are for his age, I am curious what people in America find normal for a 9 year old to read. Russell says no to Ruby and doesn't do what she says like taking a shower, but the same goes for Shari and Chad. Russel is just imitating them and wants to be big. Ruby's worst enemy is Ruby herself with her laughter at everything the kids do. Good or bad Ruby laughs it off and finds it strange that they don't listen anymore.
With those crazy books that Ruby lets Eve read with the teens, wings of fire shouldn't be a problem. Here they are indicated for 8 to 12 years old. The only reason Eve is at a lower level than Russel is because Ruby took her to school a year later than was necessary. But that girl is not stupid and can probably understand wings of fire better than russel could understand harry potter when he read those books at 7 or 8 years.

Re: 8 Passengers: No beds, no food, but mom loves motherhood! | Part 18
My thoughts on the book situation is- I get removing books that are inappropriate for the age but by 6/7 , even less advance readers should have more interesting books than the frog and the toad which are probably just picture books with a few words by the looks of them. No wonder Eve isn't interested. They need to find some topic or author she loves and then get her to read a series- like the fairy books come in like a 200 set, I loved them when I was small cause they were interesting, amusing and had more words than pictures.
It seems more like Ruby chose the books for Eve than her choosing her own, and Russel's book with the 'naughty character' probably wasn't that bad but naughty and entitled by Mormon standards. God forbid there is a child who isn't perfect and tells the mom this isnt right and acts grumpy because they are Tired. And the acting in victim is probably something from the books where something went wrong, I feel sad, or X child hit me in class and he/she should say sorry and play with me at lunch to show he's sorry ( basically normal parenting and normal kid feeling of sadness if something is wrong compared to Rubys attitude of its not my job to make you happy and if something goes wrong your not to be sad or blame anyone and i wont make it up to you cause you being angry over someone's/ her mistake is a attitude problem

Re: 8 Passengers: No beds, no food, but mom loves motherhood! | Part 18
Oh my god, Ruby - LET YOUR TWEEN AND TEEN DAUGHTERS PICK OUT THEIR OWN CLOTHES!!!! It just breaks my heart every time I see those two girls standing stiff and embarrassed in too big and mature old lady dresses or too tight clothes from the 'little kids' section, that they very obviously do not want to be trying on. But, of course, Ruby has them try the clothes on that they hate and want returned, in front of the camera for their 2 million viewers to see. Can't imagine what that must do to a child's self-esteem. I had a narcissistic abusive mother and she loved embarrassing me by forcing me to wear clothes I hated and squeezing me into bright pink, too tight, little kid dresses. She did that to me all the way into my teens and I remember once I moved out, for a good four years, I wore nothing but baggy jeans and black boy's t-shirts because I was so self conscious of my body and so scared of being made fun of for what I wore. Can't imagine how much worst it would've been if I had been on camera that whole time. Let your kids wear whatever makes them feel beautiful. Let your kids fix their own hair in whatever way they love wearing it. If your kids have acne or braces, don't bring it to attention and talk about it 24/7 unless they want to talk about it.
As for Russell having 'sass' because he read a book with a sassy character, um, yeah I'm not buying it. Ruby is projecting emotions on her children again, just like she kept holding Eve down and forcing all these mature thoughts, traumas, and emotions on her so that she could prove she was a 'life coach'. I have a feeling it was really the other way around - RUBY read the book and noticed some troubling behaviors from the protagonist and starting projecting them onto Russell because she loves assigning emotions and attitudes to her children that aren't real. Chad, who is an athletic, funny, well behaved boy, is the demon child in her eyes. Eve, a six year old, is emotionally traumatized from her dogs death and thinks about death 24/7. Russell is an 'old soul' who just happens to throw himself on the ground and roll around scream-laughing at the slightest of things. Russell might not be the most mature kid, but I really don't think he even knows what 'sass' is, he's really a very sweet and innocent kid. I also find it hard to believe that Ruby just happened to not catch any of those behaviors on camera. It's simply more of Ruby trying to project non-existent emotions and personalities on her children for attention.

Yep. I've posted the request from LDS church leaders to wear masks on here more than once.lmmomSD wrote: ↑Mon Nov 09, 2020 8:52 pmThe church did make a statement months ago asking people to wear masks and socially distance. If they can't listen to their LDS church leaders... isn't that grounds for them to be banished from the church... or made to sleep on the floor, maybe sent to the wilderness, to learn to be one with God again?Josette wrote: ↑Mon Nov 09, 2020 9:29 pmYep. Re: 8 Passengers: No beds, no food, but mom loves motherhood! | Part 18
What bothered me most about Ruby's speech about curing Russell's "sass" was that she was telling the camera with him in the frame in the back seat watching. It was like she was shaming him for it by doing it in front of him and letting him know that now the whole world knows. Most parents I watch on youtube don't show or talk about their kids' behavioral problems, and if they want to mention it then they do not say which child it was. Ruby does it right in front of the kid to show off what an amazing parent she is for solving the problem. He looked like he wanted to speak up for himself but knew better than to try.

All of the Griffiths shame their kids on camera, except maybe Julie. I don't watch Julie, so I don't know. But Bonnie takes glee in embarrassing her kids and Ellie is always going on about how Tommy is a "wild child" in front of him.
St. Jennifer must have been like that. It's amazing to me how they worship her, because the way they parent shows a lot about how she treated her children.

The video posted today is very safe with nothing bad happening but it is super boring. I don't care to see them bake stuff or build a fort. I noticed Chad in the background of the videos and I wonder if they were told to film too much of him. I wonder why the parents went on a field trip without the kids and anyways they should not be going on a field trip with covid going on.

i feel so bad for all of these kids. right now i'm just really feeling bad for shari. i can't imagine what it's like to be the oldest and held to an impossibly high standard from her narcissistic mother. like there is a reason shari is how she is. she has been enabled to believe that she is better than everyone and she does everything to please her parents and it seems like nothing is quite good enough for ruby. i wonder what goes on behind closed doors. i truly believe there will come a point where shari will snap and rebel against her parents, or at least i hope for it. shes getting close to 18 and we all know what ruby said about letting her kids live in her house after they turn 18... she's such a monster. these poor kids are held to impossible standards with the possibility of punishments that are egregious while having everything broadcasted to the internet. i hope shari chooses to get OUT of utah. she needs a reality check and i hope to god it comes quick because she has potential but she really needs to see the real world.

I don't think Ruby will want her leaving Utah as she will need her to help parent and babysit the kids when she isn't home. Her job will be to make sure they are not doing things that Ruby wouldn't approve of like using ipads when they were told not to use them or watch tv when they are not allowed to or watch a certain show that they aren't allow to watch. We all know how they love to sneak and do things they aren't normally allowed to do when Ruby isn't home especially Eve. We know it's the end of the world if Eve or the other kids are caught using the ipad when they have been told they are not allowed to be on the ipads. If shari isn't around then there won't be anyone to tattle on them for doing things like this.madewitty wrote: ↑Wed Nov 11, 2020 9:26 am i feel so bad for all of these kids. right now i'm just really feeling bad for shari. i can't imagine what it's like to be the oldest and held to an impossibly high standard from her narcissistic mother. like there is a reason shari is how she is. she has been enabled to believe that she is better than everyone and she does everything to please her parents and it seems like nothing is quite good enough for ruby. i wonder what goes on behind closed doors. i truly believe there will come a point where shari will snap and rebel against her parents, or at least i hope for it. shes getting close to 18 and we all know what ruby said about letting her kids live in her house after they turn 18... she's such a monster. these poor kids are held to impossible standards with the possibility of punishments that are egregious while having everything broadcasted to the internet. i hope shari chooses to get OUT of utah. she needs a reality check and i hope to god it comes quick because she has potential but she really needs to see the real world.

Re: 8 Passengers: No beds, no food, but mom loves motherhood! | Part 18
So ironic that the mothers tell their kids the only people they need in their lives are their siblings and those are all the friends they need, yet they then force their children to raise each other and rat each other out to the point where Ruby and Ellie are not friends and I doubt Shari will have very good relationships with her youngest siblings (I'd say Julie on down) going into adulthood. Jackson is so young and yet it already seems like Ellie will do the same and give him too many responsibilities toward his younger siblings that will create resentment among them.boychik0830 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 11, 2020 11:20 amI don't think Ruby will want her leaving Utah as she will need her to help parent and babysit the kids when she isn't home.
