I’ve only had a vaginal birth so forgive my ignorance, is it common practice to separate mom and baby like that after a c section? It seemed they kicked Oscar and baby out to the recovery room while they finished up with kyra. That would make me really uncomfortable and anxious. I know baby was with her dad but when I first had my son I wanted to be near him immediately doing skin to skin. I’ve never heard of a hospital separating mom and baby after a c section... kinda made me wonder if they were doing more than the c section. Like tying kyra’s tubes.
I'm a midwife and yes, it is very common for the father ( or midwives ) to take the baby from the operating theatres and back to the ward to await the mother's return, in fact I have never seen it done differently. It takes only minutes from the first cut to the baby being delivered, but then takes about 45 minutes to retrieve the placenta and carefully stitch up all the layers from the inner uterus to the outer skin ( there are a lot of layers to be sutured ). Sometimes there are small nicks to the bladder or other organs which also need repairing, scar tissue to be dealt with, or excessive blood loss to manage. The midwife's role in the OT ends when the baby has been received, checked over, and is ready for either the ward or nursery. We stay if paeds are needed and we are part of the resus team, and we always accompany Dad back with the baby, we don't just say "here you go Dad, here's your baby, we'll see you later" but we are not part of the surgical team working on the mother. We resume care of Mum back on the ward.
I have worked in some hospitals where the baby has to wait on the ward until Mum comes back, but others where as long as they have the staff, a midwife can remain in recovery so as soon as Mum is out of theatre she can have skin to skin and be helped with the first breastfeed. This re-unites Mum and bub about an hour earlier than where this is not an option and is lovely when this can happen, but sadly is not the "norm".
I'm in the US. It was different for me right after my son was born I held him for a few minutes then he went over to the warming bed to be checked (he was fine but from what I hear from his dad the cord was wrapped around his neck a few times) then baby was given back to me and we were wheeled together on the bed to the recovery room. It is crazy because it seems like that was only 5 or 10 minutes but now that you explain everything that needs to happen 45 minutes does seem more like it

I hope so. Aurora is so much better!!

Jean is definitely part of her name! I was looking through her tagged photos hoping to find a picture comparing all their kids as newborns to show my husband, and their was a picture of Roo in a swaddle saying Jean.
Possibly Aurora Jean? Is Jean significant? The rest of their middle names are family names.
Someone mentioned Jean is Britney Spears middle name and Kyra loves her. I went through the names video they did when she was pregnant with Averie and they talked about family middle names, I don't remember hearing Jean.
I just watched. Whoever caught that name. Good eye. There were a couple of unblurred moments but none I would have been able to make out.
I don’t see how she got Roo from Aura? Unless they say totally different to how it normally is. Like Ooorah. Which doesn’t surprise me because I still read Kyra as Ky-rah.
Am I the only person who actually likes Aura better than Aurora.
I would never choose Aura or anything but it seems lightyears better than Aurora, also seems to go with the other kids names a little better.
Is anybody else so mad about Oscar trying to change the baby’s nickname already?? Just because he doesn’t like it and didn’t pick it out.. Kyra doesn’t like the name Averie, but Oscar had to have his way, and it’s happening again

Nope.
Her reaction was silly. The baby can have heaps of nicknames. She doesn’t have to have just one.
Not related to the quote. I’m tempted to go say her name on Instagram and see if it gets deleted.

Not mad about it, Kyra is the one that wants nicknames for the kids. As far as her not liking Averie, she shouldn't have agreed to it if she didn't. As much as she didn't like it she said it was her that did ie instead of y and then she was fine with it. She picked this babies name based on being able to use Roo. A name the kid will have to have for life for a nickname. So it doesn't say much about her naming. And when he said he didn't seem to be serious but she immediately started pouting.

I already did on an account I had sitting around and never used I don’t feel bad though because her fans are also leaking it. I mean it’s gotten no likes or comments. I feel like people don’t see it unless it gets multiple likes?

I just went and liked a bunch saying her name lol.
Also bit of a stretch but could the Pooh link be Eeyore? Aura....Eeyore. Like I said, it’s a stretch lol.
I don't think there's a Pooh link, Kyra said in a vlog before Disney that Pooh was her favorite character. I think even Averie had Winnie the pooh clothes.
