Aurelia would've been great. Aurora would've been better than Aura.

Aurelia is beautiful. And it would be a tribute to Oscar's roots.fortwendy wrote:Aurelia would've been great. Aurora would've been better than Aura.

I was also coming here to say Aura Jean sounds like "oral hygiene" to me! Could be a good thing though, maybe it'll subliminally remind them to brush their teeth every once in a while.
And I had to laugh at Oscar telling everyone "Aura, like the energy," because it made me think of every single person who names their baby Nevaeh proudly announcing "it's heaven spelled backwards."

It just makes me think of psychic auras and chakras.Hereforthemamadrama wrote: ↑Wed Nov 18, 2020 2:55 pm Eh I’m not a fan I like What they had originally too me Aura just doesn’t fit a grown women with a professional job Aura is cute for a baby but eventually she will be a grown women also it doesn’t match the rest of the kids names they all have pretty good names that they can grow into and I don’t get how she got Roo from Aura lol Ill never understand her why she comes up with these names but only calls them these ridiculous nicknames that have nothing to do with their actual names lol
I don't disagree with you that it may be a weird name, but in this day and age, in America at least, most professions are getting used to hiring people with strange names. You can't really have your pick of the draw anymore, just like people with tattoos work everywhere now. I had a boss named Snow once. Her last name was White. You can't make this up. I kinda have a weird name myself, actually pretty hippy and it's never really got in the way. I have a few tattoos too, and while you may hardly have seen them on most women a decade ago, now it's rare not to see them. At least in California! Hah
Someone asked if Laura is common in America. Yes, it is. But it's a bit oldfashioned. Yet some people are still named it. (Reese Witherspoon's real name is Laura.)
I think of Norma Jean, too, as in Marilyn Monroe. Or Britney Jean, for Britney Spears. I don't know why Kyra has an obsession with wanting to be Britney.
Also, isn't Aurora an Italian name? It means "the dawn." Not sure if it means anything in Spanish.

Maybe Kyra thinks she looks like Britney.
Laura would have actually been really cute and it would match the L of Levi. Two L's and two A's. But no, of course, Levi is special and must now be messed with!

My cousins name is Aura & that’s how we say it, it’s the “Spanish” way much prettier imoshmimeathand wrote:I think changing it from aurora to something so similar is kind of dumb especially after having told everyone “aurora” for months. I do not like the name Aura Jean sounds when they say it all together like that and I think aura as a word already never sounds natural to say. But I will say, I do really like when Oscar and his family use the Spanish pronunciation like “ah-ouh-rrrr-a” with the rolled “r” it seems much prettier that way.

Pronouncing Aura in Spanish is pretty and sophisticated. I doubt they will.
Re: OKBaby: Screw the Doctor! Vasectomy for Oscar! | Part 34
This is the only way I like it too. But pronounced like Ora it sounds like all the other things everyone mentioned previously.Jessicanicoleee wrote:My cousins name is Aura & that’s how we say it, it’s the “Spanish” way much prettier imoshmimeathand wrote:I think changing it from aurora to something so similar is kind of dumb especially after having told everyone “aurora” for months. Have we ever heard Oscar speak Spanish to the kids? He's probably too lazy to teach them, but they would definitely benefit from being able to speak a second language! Maybe Oscar's parents could teach them, although I doubt they will

I think it’s a control thing.bunchofidiots wrote:Why is Kyra waking up with all the kids? And on the first day they have all 4 kids too. Oscar can get up and help I mean she did just have a baby for crying out loud. What a lazy father just sleeping in while Kyra deals with all the kids by herself. You can see in the clip all of them are fighting while Kyra feeds the baby and Oscar is nowhere to be seen or heard. I don’t even want to talk about them going out to eat with a newborn and they were just sick too weren’t they? Completely irresponsible.

Okay but try saying Aurora Morales three times. Now that is a tongue twisterAuntieAgape wrote:So they did change it. Props to whoever said that might be the case
I have some thoughts. In no particular order:
Aura Jean is pretty.
Aurora Jean is prettier.
When I think of the word aura my automatic word association is migraine. And the aura before a migraine is definitely NOT pretty.
Try saying Aura Morales three times, quickly. For extra fun, add alcohol before attempting this.
She’s going to spend her whole life hearing “And how are you spelling that?”. But her big sister will spend HER whole life hearing “Like the bird cage?” so there’s that.
As somebody else said, it rhymes with oral. This is almost definitely going to be an issue at school when she’s older. But I guess she has Roo to fall back on if necessary during the bitchy school years.
My OCD wishes it had been an L name, so they’d have 2 As and 2 Ls, as bookmarks, if you will.
EDIT: Laura! Aura with an L! (see above). Is Laura common in America?
But most of all, it’s their baby, their choice, and absolutely none of my business
I don’t like either name BUT I loved the way Oscar and his family pronounced Aura in Spanish. I thought it was beautiful. But Kyra would never even try to pronounce it that way since she’s so against learning another language in the first place.

I used to work with siblings named thunder, storm, and river. I kid you not.
Also siblings lanajia (luhnayjah) and lanajsha (luhnaysha) basically pronounced the same way.
Parents are fucked sometimes.

I have a friend with a nephew named Jaxsyn. "Jackson" is pretty normal, but they have doomed him to spend his whole life saying "no, it's not spelled that way". It's the desperate drive to give kids a uNiQuE name. I get that. When I chose Lauren for my daughter's name, I swear to God, I didn’t know anyone with that name. But when she got to school, every third girl was named Lauren.
I guess it could be worse, like David Bowie's son Zowie Bowie. Or to get to more modern times, North West.

I would prefer Laura too.
I actually like Aria. Kinda goes with Roo too. If you try hard enough
But what is done is done... i feel sorry for aura (and btw ora is a name for a very popular drink in my country. Very weird for me). Aura with rolled R (how we say it in my language (and in spanish)) is actually very pretty. Wish they would stick with that pronunciation.

All i can think of when I hear the name: migraines. Ouch! Hope she won’t suffer from migraines with aura. That would be a painful reminder of them.
