Re: 8 Passengers: No beds, no food, but mom loves motherhood! | Part 18
As much as I have watched family vloggers over the years (I really don’t anymore I just peruse the forums here to see what’s up) as a parent, I am so against these vloggers exploiting their children online for income. Especially as they become teenagers. The teen years and going through puberty was rough enough in the early 2000’s before social media and everybody having phones and what not. I would have despised my parents if they were vloggers and putting me online when I was a teenager. I cannot think of anything more humiliating. It is insane to me that this isn’t illegal and that there are no protections in place for these kids. YouTubers can put anything they want out and they don’t have to pay their kids for being on the vlogs. I am interested to see the long term repercussions of this. How many child actors have struggled with drug and alcohol addiction or committed suicide? And they can at least escape the fame and pressure at home in their safe space. YouTube kids don’t even have that. I don’t think the long term effects will be good, I predict a lot of kids trying to emancipate themselves from their parents and creating a lot of space from their families as a result.
I was reading a reddit thread from a teenage boy who’s mum is a mummy blogger and has been since him and his younger brother were little, it’s her income, but he has asked her over and over not to talk about him in her blog and not to post photos of him in her blog and she just pulls the “but it’s how I pay the bills” card on him. She ignored his opinion and his personal autonomy to the point that he had hoodies and T-shirt’s printed for his brother and himself that said “no photos” and other slogans of the same gist and he wears them all the time at home so she can’t post photos of him. It is NOT your children’s responsibly to pay your bills in any way, shape or form. Whether that’s by them working and contributing money or by being involved in your YouTube channel. Children are not money makers and income generators. It’s actually really gross. I am kind of ashamed I have contributed to their income over the years by viewing to be honest.
... sorry for the long rant I had to get it off my chest lol.

I completely agree (also I recognize you from HayleeAndFamily's thread lol). Your post has just reminded me of another family called The Weiss Life and the mom forces her teenage daughters to film/post bra/bathing suit shopping and "period kit" videos and its so gross. Whenever one of those videos would be posted, the oldest daughter would fake sick just to stay home from school because it was so humiliating for her and she would get bullied whenever those videos of hers would be posted. I honestly couldn't even imagine growing up like that and I'm sure the future won't be great, as some of these kids seem to already be experiencing negative repercussions. I don't watch a ton of family vloggers either since I find most of them to actually be kind of boring, except Haylee because I just like to keep up with the shitshow that is her life lol. I think you would also be interested in the Dad Challenge Podcast since he talks a lot about this and how parents shouldn't be exploiting their children for money/fame, and how so many pedos are watching these channels. It's honestly disturbing.staceymj wrote: ↑Sat Dec 12, 2020 6:26 pm As much as I have watched family vloggers over the years (I really don’t anymore I just peruse the forums here to see what’s up) as a parent, I am so against these vloggers exploiting their children online for income. Too bad there's not a version https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Californi ... r%27s_Bill (aka Coogan Act/Coogan Bill) to ensure that the children of vloggers receive the money they've earned. The child actor's employer is required to set aside 15% of all earnings in a trust account that the actor can access once they're an adult (aka Coogan Account). The bill also protects them from exploitation and abuse and codifies issues such as schooling, work hours and time off.staceymj wrote: ↑Sat Dec 12, 2020 6:26 pm As much as I have watched family vloggers over the years (I really don’t anymore I just peruse the forums here to see what’s up) as a parent, I am so against these vloggers exploiting their children online for income. The bill is named after actor Jackie Coogan who as a child earned an estimated $3-$4 million. When he turned 21 he thought his fortune was intact because it was being managed by his father (He passed away 5 months before JC turned 21), but instead found out that his mother & stepfather, his family's former financial advisor had spent all but $250,000. He sued them, but after legal expenses he only had $126,000 left of his earnings.

What you’ve written is excellent and probably what most people who peruse these forums think. Most of the family vloggers call people like us ‘haters’ but we are anything but that! What I do hate is the exploitation of the children, especially the daughters...the weiss life, 8 passengers, it’s R life,....all these families use their kids puberty experiences to sell a video. Not in a billion years could I imagine taking my daughters bra shopping with a video camera in my hand.staceymj wrote: ↑Sat Dec 12, 2020 6:26 pm As much as I have watched family vloggers over the years (I really don’t anymore I just peruse the forums here to see what’s up) as a parent, I am so against these vloggers exploiting their children online for income. I don't care to watch ruby talk about freeze drying her food which is super disgusting and I don't want to hear shari talk about how she lost her money because she wasn't being responsible with it. It's all her fault and I guess she will be living outside when she turns 18 because nobody is allowed to live in the house when they turn 18 but an exception might be made for her as she is the favorite child.

Re: 8 Passengers: No beds, no food, but mom loves motherhood! | Part 18
Of course while Ruby and Kevin are off doing god knows what, the kids have to clean the entire house. Do we think Kevin has ever cleaned an inch of that house? I doubt Ruby even does. And Russel was at choir practice!! Because covid doesn’t exist in Utah I guess! Shari was actually less overbearing in this vlog despite being in charge of everyone getting their work done.
Shari says the money was taken out of her bank account little by little through wire transfers, with some money being put back in every once in a while to look legitimate so the bank won’t label it fraud or refund her. How long would she have had to ignore that bank account to not notice any of those transactions? Maybe this is why a high schooler isn’t actually old enough or mature enough to independently handle their own finances, Ruby. High schoolers have very busy lives so I kind of understand why she wasn’t very attentive to it, I don’t think I would’ve been at that age, and also you just think your money is safe in the bank. So I kind of think a lot of fault lies with Ruby and Kevin for taking no part in their kids’ lives and making them be responsible for too much. Of course Shari has been brainwashed to think it isn’t her parents’ responsibility to help with any part of her life.
What Shari is solely responsible for, though, are her retainers which Dwight has now chewed twice. Just put your retainers away in a drawer and stop blaming the dog.

Re: 8 Passengers: No beds, no food, but mom loves motherhood! | Part 18
Can someone please explain to me the connection between Mormonism and freeze drying. She is going so overboard with this and for what? I read an interesting article about the brand of her freeze dryer machine and it says it might not be worth the nearly $3,000 investment because it only has a one year warranty, a sign the company doesn’t trust its durability after a year. It also mentioned it’s technology is new and it as of now has no other competition, so might be shitty, and they’re unsure if it’s entirely safe to freeze dry meat (ahem, aka brisket).boychik0830 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 14, 2020 5:21 am I don't care to watch ruby talk about freeze drying her food which is super disgusting and I don't want to hear shari talk about how she lost her money because she wasn't being responsible with it. I’m concerned that the lack of control in the settings combined with my user error may create food that isn’t safe for my family. That would be the worst possible scenario, but even if that doesn’t happen, I’m not sure the shelf life would be as long or the nutrient level as high.
In fact, Harvest Right themselves sell a “scientific” freeze dryer (affiliate) that allows you to control the temperature and pressure per product. How can the two machines deliver the same quality in product? The quality of the “home” dehydrator has to be different.
Here’s the link in question, I did find it after googling “freeze drying+Mormon” or variation of that, as I was trying to figure out the significance. So it might have sort of religious affiliation, but I didn’t see anything at a glance. [url]https://simplefamilypreparedness.com/ha ... age-1/[url]
So fucking weird how obsessed Ruby is with astronaut food. I don’t buy she’s stocking up to share with her family if the world ends or some shit. Because, as we know, Ruby doesn’t share shit- unless it’s her shitty attitude or her problematic life views. I think she does this as she seems to have a strange relationship with food, and she reflects this on her kids, who are probably hungry as fuck as their mom keeps freeze drying LEFTOVERS.

i haven't posted in a while due to university but watching todays upload .. have i missed something? whats with the need/want to freeze dry food? is it part of the whole mormon 'prepare for the worst' teaching? i guess i'm just confused because ruby never cooks her family proper meals anyways but is now choosing to freeze dry, in her words, "full meals" ..

Well, in 20 years all the kids will have escaped, and per the Griffiths mantra, adults deserve real delicious/nutritious meals like brisket with sautéed vegetables, unlike children.ponyos wrote: ↑Mon Dec 14, 2020 7:35 am i haven't posted in a while due to university but watching todays upload .. have i missed something? whats with the need/want to freeze dry food? is it part of the whole mormon 'prepare for the worst' teaching? i guess i'm just confused because ruby never cooks her family proper meals anyways but is now choosing to freeze dry, in her words, "full meals" ..
Did any of you watch Grandma Griff just duplicate Ruby's insurance scam for a home renovation? This family is unbelievable.
Re: 8 Passengers: No beds, no food, but mom loves motherhood! | Part 18
I think it’s Ruby who took Sharis money...to somehow teach her a lesson on “being responsible”. Ruby’s favorite catch phrase. She’s an insane control freak and I wouldn’t put it past her.

I can't believe that ruby would expect a 7 year old to be completely independent and take on adult responsibilities. She is not ready to be independent yet. Give the kids less things to worry about. Let kids be kids and not have to worry about adult things.

Re: 8 Passengers: No beds, no food, but mom loves motherhood! | Part 18
I just watched Shari's vlog and something just isn't right about the whole situation. If someone steals $200,000, 1) you notice 2) you file a police report. This "aw shucks, things will work out on their own" attitude isn't normal, especially for self-righteous Shari who thinks she can do no wrong and everyone else can do no right.
It makes me wonder as if mentioned above, Ruby was taking money from her account, perhaps to secretly fund her shopping addiction maybe? Or her father to pay for steroids and an affair? This family seems to be particularly prone to these types of issues, with Bonnie and her opioids, Ruby and her shopping, all of them with food. It is even possible that Shari has something going on herself, or someone else she trusted with her information took the money. Her being directly tied to the thief is the one and only way this makes any sense.
I hope it was Chad and he now has a large nest egg to escape to a top tier college at 18. I was so happy to see he was sleeping in a bed with a frame, in a decorated bedroom. I hope his year long punishment is finally over. Shari doesn't even have a bed yet.

Re: 8 Passengers: No beds, no food, but mom loves motherhood! | Part 18
Lots of why's from Shari's vlog today.....1) why, oh, why, are siblings responsible for Eve's laundry when she is too little to do it herself. Ruby and Kevin, you CHOSE to have children, and many of them of them at that! If Eve is too young, this is your responsibility. Once in a while, siblings could help, but why is a chore that you don't want to bother with added to their load? 2) Why, are they bothering to get a bed frame for Shari's room. By the time it arrives, she will be 18 and per Ruby, not welcome to live there any longer. I can't imagine she will be allowed to take her furniture with her either. I know in our family, if we bought a nice bedroom suite for our children's room, that is their furniture to take with them when they move out, if they want. I can see from Jennifer's house, the kids aren't given that option, so maybe Ruby is being stingy like her own mother and kids only get to take what they paid for themselves. 3) Why was Shari's bank account not monitored better? We should all live so carefree and be as forgiving when it comes to hard earned money (not). I would be sick and go to every length to get to the bottom of where it went to. I agree with someone else, Ruby sees it as punishment so she won't bother to put any effort into helping. 4) Why do they allow those birds free rein of the house? I hope they wash their floors, table and counters more than each week, cause those birds are pooping and peeing all over the place, how gross!
Happy to see Chad has a bed and some personal flare in his bedroom (I assume that's his). I wonder what happened to his lights, and guess they were damaged from the water. As expensive as they are, I would have expected insurance to replace them. Not Ruby's idea to get them, so not her worry.

Re: 8 Passengers: No beds, no food, but mom loves motherhood! | Part 18
Here’s another thought.. if the stolen money isn’t complete bullshit made up for views, I think Shari didn’t report it right because she knows it’s a family member and they could go to jail over it. That’s why she’s being so lacks a daisy over it.
Re: 8 Passengers: No beds, no food, but mom loves motherhood! | Part 18
Pretty damned rich of Chad to call the daycare driver a "Nobody and a jackass" for chewing Jennifer out because she parked in the wrong lot. I realize he's her husband, but the fact that the driver blocked Jennifer in means it's probably an ongoing problem at the daycare center as it's unlikely they have as many parking spaces as the hospital.

I don't think for a second that Chad is involved in Shari's missing money, but I sure in hell think her parents are and that's why she hasn't filed a police report. Mom or dad, maybe both, "borrowed" some of it.
All this freeze drying and she won't allow the kids to eat barely any of it and I highly doubt she'll share any of it with her kids when they "leave" home.
And while I'm glad Chad has a bed complete with frame, I'm wondering if Ruby & Kevin bought it or did Chad, because it wouldn't surprise me if they expected him to replace his window-well damaged mattress.
Re: 8 Passengers: No beds, no food, but mom loves motherhood! | Part 18
Was just over on Bonnie's page and another member was speculating that Jennifer might have parked her truck in a handicap parking space. If that's true it would explain why the daycare van driver was so angry and wouldn't accept Jennifer's apologies. Of course she's not going to tell her viewers about that because it would put her in an even worse light than she already is.Josette wrote: ↑Mon Dec 14, 2020 11:14 amPretty damned rich of Chad to call the daycare driver a "Nobody and a jackass" for chewing Jennifer out because she parked in the wrong lot. The scandal probably put a wrench in their plans as far as payments on the McMansion.

Re: 8 Passengers: No beds, no food, but mom loves motherhood! | Part 18
I'm curious how the kids' homeschooling is going. We all know Ruby has a one track mind. Since she started on this manic freeze drying phase I haven't heard any mention of homeschooling. I'm assuming they are just left to fend for themselves while Ruby spends all day freeze drying for no reason. It is completely ridiculous that she's making very expensive dishes for freeze drying instead of to feed her family. I'm sure a lot of that stuff is probably going to be ruined, since I doubt Ruby knows what she's doing and she's trying to do all these complex meals. I get that Mormons prepare for the end times or whatever, but this is just ridiculous. There's no way they'll ever eat all of that food. Why not donate it to someone who needs it instead of greedily hoarding an inordinate amount of food in your cellar? People have been mentioning how she removed the link to Kevin from her Instagram bio and I am kind of thinking there is something going on and that's why Ruby is acting so manic.
The whole situation with Shari's money is just plain weird. I'm thinking that there is a chance it's all just a ploy for attention and views. Maybe a small sum was stolen from her and she's dramatizing it. If she was saving since she was five and it was stolen in very small increments, how does that work???? That had to have been going on for years and how do you just not notice money slowly disappearing from your account? She acted like she just woke up and saw it was all gone one day. If it is true, I agree that it might be a family member who is involved in it. I think Ruby, Kevin, or Ruby's parents or siblings would be my prime suspects. Maybe Shari did notice the money being taken out but knew it was a family member so she didn't say anything and then they took it a step further and took everything and that's why she's just bringing it up now. Maybe it's a combination of knowing it's a family member, but realizing she can get views from the story so that's why she's making all these videos. It's just interesting that neither of her parents have made any mention of the issue. If my daughter lost her life savings, I would be freaking out, lol. Awful suspicious that her parents don't seem to care whatsoever. It is also suspicious how Ruby was crying about how they were poor and couldn't afford uncrustables not too long ago, but she hasn't mentioned any of that lately, even now that they've lost views and stopped posting frequently. Maybe she just happened to find a large sum of money that happened to belong to Shari to fund her luxury lifestyle because she convinced herself that she was poor and Shari owes her that money anyways because Ruby birthed her and she needs to pay for that.
