I guess ruby only cares about homeschooling when she can make a video and make money off of it. It more about the money then anything else.

Sorry for not being more clear. If she worked at Chick Fil-A or a mall store or something like that, Shari would get all of her earnings. But YouTube does not pay minors. The only way for a minor to have a monetized channel is to connect it with an adult's approved Adsense account, and the money goes to the adult. And I am reasonably sure that sponsored posts on IG work the same way, because minors can't enter into a contract in the US.Kataja wrote:Is that truly how it works there? You are even allowed to open bank account legally on your own (typically legal agreements need to be made by parents) for your own earnings non dependent on your parents accounts and they have no access to it.boychik0830 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 17, 2020 6:25 pmProbably at least 95% goes to ruby and shari may get some money but she has to do chores to get it. I didn't realize the money went straight to Ruby. In that case I agree, she totally stole most of it. That being said, does that mean Shari lied about having enough money to get her through college?lmmomSD wrote: ↑Fri Dec 18, 2020 5:48 amSorry for not being more clear. I feel bad for Shari being the pseudo mother. And I really do feel bad for Shari, she should get her money back. Her PARENTS should be dealing with it though, not her. She is 17. She is not an adult even though her parents make her think she is. Her parents have been profiting of the kids for years, I would hope THEY would have set aside money for college because there is no way those children will be able to get financial assistance. From the way Shari speaks I don't think that is going to happen though. What a toxic family culture.

Definitely something sketchy going on there with Shari and her money being taken. I'm also curious if something is going on with Ruby and Kevin since they both unlinked each other on their instagrams. I also saw a comment on one of Kevin's posts calling him a "bald a** pervert." That's now deleted. Not sure if the person was trolling or if their is something behind that.

Complete and utter speculation with no evidence to back it up: maybe Kevin took Shari's money to spend on some chippie?

I've been speculating myself about where the money is. I'd bet Ruby took it. She seems to be the biggest spender of the family. Perhaps to pay off debt from her failed Ruby-Do clothing line since that fell apart in the first month. She had to have gone into debt from it.

That’s why she’s not kicking out Shari right away as well. She has been raising “the kids” for years, looking after household chores,... We all know she doesn’t want to lose her as she’s basically doing everything.Happy+Charlie wrote: ↑Wed Dec 16, 2020 10:13 amShe may rethink it by the time Eve and Russell are old enough, who will do the housecleaning once the kids are gone. She must not be thinking about that.imoverit wrote: ↑Wed Dec 16, 2020 9:53 am Are people thinking the kids will be made to move out at 18 even if they’re still in high school? To me, “not welcome to live here after 18” means after high school. So Shari would have to move out for the summer before college and not come back. You’d think she’d at least let her stay for the summer, I guess we’ll see! Ruby will be so over having her kids around by the time Russel and Eve get to this point they might get the boot even sooner!
Considering views have been better before, she also needs to milk all the college footage.
Re: 8 Passengers: No beds, no food, but mom loves motherhood! | Part 18
What if Shari fell for a scam and is too embarrassed to admit how it happened? I nearly did once and felt so stupid when I realized but it is relatively common. You get a text saying it’s from your bank wanting you to click on a link that looks like your bank’s website, you enter your password and security questions - all of which is being captured by the scammers and they use it to go into your account and change your contact details. I realized straight away (but still only after I had given the info, so too late really) and called my bank’s fraud desk and the scammers had already set up wiring details to another country. The bank was able to shut it down by blocking my account and giving me new account details but my heart was pounding for 15 minutes while I was on the phone as they fixed it. I had just set up a new automatic payment from my account for my gym that day so the text message from “the bank” didn’t come out of the blue - i assumed the text was prompting me to verify the new payments.
If Ruby and Kevin think Shari was stupid or reckless in handling something similar I could see why they wouldn’t support her in getting it back. Maybe Shari also can’t say much because it is the subject of police investigation.

I don't think ruby help shari at all no matter what happened as she treats all of her kids like adults which means she expects them to be completely independent like a adult as well.nylady wrote: ↑Sat Dec 19, 2020 5:50 am What if Shari fell for a scam and is too embarrassed to admit how it happened? Watching that dumbass freeze drying video she put up - I hope someone steals that ridiculously expensive machine right out of their garage now that she's shown the world where it stays.
Re: 8 Passengers: No beds, no food, but mom loves motherhood! | Part 18
Personally I think both Kevin and Ruby were involved and this is why Shari didn't report the missing money to the police.destroyedbythesun wrote: ↑Fri Dec 18, 2020 11:53 pmI've been speculating myself about where the money is. Apparently these is affinity fraud which is very common among the LDS church , I wonder if she fell for some church based, invest with us and we will make you rich schemes and now wont report it to the police because the church knows it will make them look bad and told her it would be acting against the church or some nonsense like that.nylady wrote: ↑Sat Dec 19, 2020 5:50 am What if Shari fell for a scam and is too embarrassed to admit how it happened? Also I tried to find Ruby's address to see how easy it was, since she showing her home on the outside, inside and is now showing her expensive freeze drier in her garage. I personally cannot find the address.
https://rqn.com/blog/utahsecuritiesfrau ... at%20trust.
also she's still harping on about freeze drying- I watched Kevin's instagram stories last night and they had smoked 3 turkey breasts and like 5 streaks. The streaks looked raw in the middle and they aid they would eat some and freeze the rest and Abby booed, I wonder how much they eat vs how much was stored for the next 30 yrs.
The home-schooling is still going it seems, At least they have obeyed the rules and stopped the covid super spreading field trips for now. Someone else commented on the reddit about the book choices, they seem far too advanced for Eve and Russel, and Julie and Abby should be able to read alone without needing mums help. The Maths seems to be Ruby's new favourite, she even wants them to keep schooling through the summer- claims they will be caught up by end of year and ahead by a grade by end of summer. That's great if that is the case but what about other classes, English, geography, Languages, history, science? they haven't mentioned those in ages and are Julie and Abby still doing extra classes with the professor? They mentioned a drama show they are doing which is fun but isn't a part of actual school Ruby- they should be doing that on top of normal classes- I fell they will be significantly behind in all bar maths with Ruby doo school, but hey they know how to freeze dry, read the bible and count so that all that matters right! sadly.

Please don't post their actual address. It's against the rules of the site. You don't know who might be creeping here.

Re: 8 Passengers: No beds, no food, but mom loves motherhood! | Part 18
I watched Shari’s video on her college applications and it is so painfully obvious how little guidance she received about where to apply. She seems so naive and uninformed about how much money she could actually receive in a merit scholarship and that she is unlikely to receive any federal aid because of how much money her parents have, even if they don’t help her pay because they have the means to do so but are choosing not to. Based on her grades and extracurricular activities she might get into some of the schools but she is probably not going to see much in terms of scholarships. I grew up near BU and it is not a school that is known for giving out large amounts of financial aid.

Re: 8 Passengers: No beds, no food, but mom loves motherhood! | Part 18
Looks like Shari made the same overconfident mistake I made when I applied to college! The types of schools she applied to are actually remarkably similar to what I did, except none are exactly the same - one local, one ivy, one in DC and another random difficult school. I got lucky and got into two of my four, but it's definitely a risk applying to only four schools that are all very good and difficult and if I had to redo it I'd probably add one safer school. I could see her possibly getting into George Washington, I do think Boston and UPenn are stretches but hey you gotta go for some reach schools just to see (she can certainly afford the app fees!). She's very much banking on getting into BYU which she even says. I just wish she had a desire to do something different with herself... oh well.
I wonder if she talked about youtube anywhere on her applications, like in an essay. It would definitely cause them to look at her channels and I don't know if that would be a good thing!! It could be, it's a mixed bag and another risk. I find it a little funny she's trying to give tips on applying and she hasn't even been successful yet. If she's already got her freshman roommates planned out, it would be really devastating for her to not get into BYU. I think she's been told how "smart" she is one too many times and is very confident with this.

Oh don’t kid yourself. She’s going to BYU even if all the other colleges accept her and give her 100% scholarships, which won’t happen.imoverit wrote: ↑Mon Dec 21, 2020 7:04 pm Looks like Shari made the same overconfident mistake I made when I applied to college! She is a Mormon living in a Mormon bubble and probably looking to get married and start having kids. Just like her momma.
And she won’t be accepted into any Ivy League school. She didn’t take enough AP classes and she doesn’t have a lot of extra curricular activities, she should’ve gone for more variety IMO.

Go check out 8 passengers Instagrams story. They got a sponsorship with hasbro for a monopoly card game. I can't believe that anyone would want to sponsor someone who starves their kids, makes their teenage sleep on a beanbag and banning election for the summer. I thought after the video posted in April no one would want to do a sponsorship with them.
