Finally, My interest is thoroughly piqued now that the whole family got together for a Christmas vacation, except black sheep Ruby (and Beau who everyone suspects is in porn rehab). Ruby is doing nothing but freeze drying crap at home though. I wonder what she did to her family!?!? Blaming her for destroying Beau's marriage via her scam therapy MLM is still a top theory for me.

If you are talking about Julie and Bonnie's vlogs, that get together was just for Grandpa Griffith's birthday. It will be interesting to see if they get together for Christmas. Even if the others get together, I don't look for Ellie and Jared to be there. I have found it interesting too that they weren't there for his birthday. Ruby hasn't mentioned the health scare with her mother like the other sisters. It does seem like there has been a falling out in the family.
There has been clips and pics on IG with Emily and Beau so if he was in a rehab, he's not there now. They seem okay now too, but the scam deal definitely could be behind the rift. The family could blame Ruby for getting them involved with the lady.

Re: 8 Passengers: No beds, no food, but mom loves motherhood! | Part 18
I didn't know it was for Chad's birthday. I just assumed that this was a Christmas celebration of sorts because Christmastime is an odd/stressful/expensive time to plan a vacation otherwise. Chad and Jen seemed to imply they were on their own Christmas day though, which is silly when they all constantly vacation/visit together all pandemic long....just covering a family rift perhaps? Julie implied this was originally her trip and then the whole family wanted to come. She said she cancelled her hotel and they rented that big house in St. George for all the sisters (except Ruby) and Grandma/Grandpa. It is hilarious because Ellie lured them all there with her constant declaration of warmth and sunshine year round, but it was frigid (pun intended). Who "sneaks in" to a water park when it is too cold to even touch your feet to the concrete?
By the way, why do all the Griffiths' favorite memories involve soiling their pants on Christmas? Jen's incontinence at the age of 5 didn't even have anything to do with the story. Unless her siblings told her she didn't get to see Santa with the rest of the family because she wet the bed? What a sad memory regardless. And of course Chad agrees it's a great memory because she learned to cook for the men in her family that Christmas. Yikes.
I put quotes around "rehab", because I have no idea what happens in Mormon homes when a man is labeled "a porn addict" and the wife runs off with the kids to Florida. I assume they expected him to rehabilitate himself somehow, but my only reference is those "customer reviews" where Ruby's boss just extorts them for more money, or ruins their life if they refuse. I didn't realize Emily was even back with the kids in Utah. Her Instagram was all beach pics with her sister for quite some time. Interesting that they seem okay now that Ruby appears to be a pariah. Did Emily and Beau post videos together on Emily's Instagram?

I'm positive that she will just state she got accepted. Without showing evidence. Then just go to BYU.imoverit wrote: ↑Thu Dec 24, 2020 11:28 amI totally agree about Shari's motivations for bothering to apply to very good schools that aren't BYU. She wants to be able to say she got into them, even though she'll choose BYU anyway. I will be extraordinarily surprised if she got into UPenn or Boston though. She has really built up this "I don't even try in school anymore" spiel to have an excuse for low AP scores and potential college rejections.ICantEven wrote: ↑Wed Dec 23, 2020 7:19 pm It seems like Shari is just trying to show off by applying to some of those schools, acting as if there's a chance she'll get in. When she was younger she seemed to genuinely work hard and excel in academics. But now she just thinks she's so smart that she doesn't have to try. If by some miracle she got in to one of the more competitive schools, she'd have a rude awakening. Students are not only intelligent, but ridiculously driven and competitive.
I'm pretty sure she already knows she's going to BYU since she's said she knows who she's living with. The application stuff is all a show (maybe her mom thought it would be good content)
Even with going to BYU, I would be shocked if she graduates wth a degree

Re: 8 Passengers: No beds, no food, but mom loves motherhood! | Part 18
What I don't understand is why, if Kevin comes from a large family, and Chad supposedly had a ton of siblings, and Jenn had at least a few, why none of these aunts and uncles and cousins the kids must have are ever even mentioned. I understand if they don't want to be on camera, but it's like they don't exist, with the exception of Aunt Linda.
I too don't get their obsession with bodily functions. They seem to be permanently trapped at the age where pee, poop and farts are funny. Ellie shits her pants on the regular (laxative abuse in her attempts to stay skinny)? Bonnie shared that awful story about pooping her pants in Hawaii, and Ruby had Chad pee in a bottle in the car with his sister sitting right next to him, then had the temerity to send him off to Anasazi for some sin--maybe he got accused of being a porn addict as well, since that's this "therapist's" MO. These are all things I wish I didn't know, especially the bit about Chad. They're not only fascinated with their bowels and bladders, they seem to believe everyone else is interested too. And I'm betting that if one commented that maybe it was an overshare, people would come to their defense saying what a funny story it was.

Among other things, Shari mentioned in her latest Instagram post that she has finally begun developing empathy at 17 years old. Huzzah!

Re: 8 Passengers: No beds, no food, but mom loves motherhood! | Part 18
Shari's Instagram post about everything she was a victim of and learned this year is just appalling to read. Regardless if you believe in cancel culture or not, how the heck does one argue that the Franke's are victims of it? Lmao, it's not like they got cancelled for harmlessly expressing their beliefs or exercising their freedom of speech. They got cancelled because they abused their children! And really? Shari's crying about their "cancellation" when they still have over 2 million subscribers, hundreds of thousands of followers on Instagram each, and are completely loaded from exploiting their children. Shari is just so ignorant, you can't cry 'cancel culture' anytime someone tries to make you take responsibility for your actions. She really thinks that pointing out someone's abusive actions makes the abuser the victim? With that logic I guess Shari would say that DaddyOFive was a victim of cancel culture and how dare his channel get shut down when he has a right to show himself abusing his kids on the internet. Don't even get me started on the, "I'm so proud of myself for starting to develop empathy for the first time in my life." Does she mean she developed empathy for abusers and narcissists? That's the only 'empathy' I see in her.

Re: 8 Passengers: No beds, no food, but mom loves motherhood! | Part 18
There were probably some people calling for 8Passengers to be "canceled", as in no one should watch or support them anymore, when Ruby talked about taking Chad's bed away. It's a popular thing on the internet nowadays to try to "cancel" people when they do something controversial, and it's often overdone, so the term "cancel culture" has been formed to described this situation. But they were in NO way canceled, when in this case they really should have been (they should have been for a long time!). The channel hardly took a hit and they've fully recovered from it in views, likes, and sponsorships. But Shari is one of those white christians who is always looking to be the victim I guess. She's writing about cancel culture for her senior """thesis""" (high school paper) so of course she thinks she is really intelligent on the subject and superior to all the people who have called out her parents' abuse, who she views as ignorant tweens. I'm not even going to read her post because I know it'll make me angry lol, this whole family needs to shut up and get offline because they just keep embarrassing themselves beyond belief.
Re: 8 Passengers: No beds, no food, but mom loves motherhood! | Part 18
Thanks for the info. I have never heard of cancel culture. I think their vlogs have still not recovered. Some of their vlogs have lots of views, but for the most part, they are dismal. Maybe I'm wrong, and I don't look at their stats...just their every day views.imoverit wrote: ↑Sun Dec 27, 2020 6:14 pmThere were probably some people calling for 8Passengers to be "canceled", as in no one should watch or support them anymore, when Ruby talked about taking Chad's bed away. Re: 8 Passengers: No beds, no food, but mom loves motherhood! | Part 18
It seems that so many times the people that cry cancel culture have not actually been “canceled”, they are just mad that people decided to call them out for their bad behavior. It’s annoying how the Franke’s constantly preach accountability to their children but Ruby and Kevin never take accountability for anything!

Re: 8 Passengers: No beds, no food, but mom loves motherhood! | Part 18
The homemade presents in the sibling gift exchange were nice, many of them are so artistically talented. Ruby called Abby a "selfish little twit" when recounting the time she threw her present of shoes during the christmas in hawaii... way to ruin the nice gift exchange. She seriously ruins the videos by being in them, but at the same time I don't want the videos to be entirely the kids because she's just exploiting them. And of course Ruby's gifts to the kids were pocket knives, because for some reason those are very highly valued in that weird family.
Re: 8 Passengers: No beds, no food, but mom loves motherhood! | Part 18
Today's video with the gift exchange among the kids was very nice, and the first vlog in many months that I actually watched the whole way through (helped in part by Ruby mostly staying out of it). Abby clearly has a talent for drawing, and I hope she keeps it up! Julie's gift was sweet with the framed drawings of Eve's favorite Disney characters.

Re: 8 Passengers: No beds, no food, but mom loves motherhood! | Part 18
Did Shari really just say in her "what I got for christmas" video that it's a good thing her grandma Franke had a heart attack AFTER sending out the grandkids' gifts so that it got done...........
Some of the expensive useless items she got were a hunting knife that she says she doesn't plan to use unless she needs to eat in an emergency, a J Crew coat that will only be for extra special occasions, a pearl necklace that will be for her wedding (???), and some books that she seems more interested in collecting than reading. This family loves to spend money, especially on things they don't plan to use.

I actually felt a bit sorry for Shari - some of the gifts didn’t seem at all targeted to her interests, like the water color materials, which seems very specific and something she didn’t seem to have expressed any interest in. Also, Kevin giving each kid a packet of Harry Potter jelly beans just seems to reinforce how much of an afterthought the kids all are to him that they get the same (gross) thing.

I was so impressed with the homemade gifts, Julie's was so sweet and I thought even Eve did a great job. I was waiting for Shari to make a sarcastic comment on her siblings gifts but I'm glad she didn't.

Comical about Kevin getting each kid the Harry Potter beans. Buying one of the yucky flavors is bad enough as you know nobody is truly going to eat and enjoy them....but to buy 7 of them? He is such a disconnected weirdo. So glad he could put the thought into a gift for each child.nylady wrote: ↑Mon Dec 28, 2020 4:53 pm I actually felt a bit sorry for Shari - some of the gifts didn’t seem at all targeted to her interests, like the water color materials, which seems very specific and something she didn’t seem to have expressed any interest in. The knives are such a strange choice for kids, lol. It's been noted in the past that Ruby doesn't know her children, this is pretty good evidence, maybe next year they'll all get guns.Happy+Charlie wrote: ↑Mon Dec 28, 2020 9:57 pmComical about Kevin getting each kid the Harry Potter beans.
