8 Passengers: No beds, no food, but mom loves motherhood! | Part 18
Re: 8 Passengers: No beds, no food, but mom loves motherhood! | Part 18
Looks like chad has a smaller room than he used to have. Looks to be 1/2 of the size of the other one.

I think it's the same room he always had in this house, he just now has a bed and some furniture so we really get to see just how small it is. It looked alright when it was totally empty, no surprise that he has the smallest room in the house though. He also has the window blocked which I think makes it look smaller. I am glad he has a nice bed now but yeah, that is not a christmas present, he just knows he has to be excessively grateful and walk on eggshells or his mother's wrath will be unleashed.
And of course Ruby has to mention that a lot of the viewers "don't get it" in regards to Chad and his situation over the past year. She and Kevin hold so much resentment towards so many of their viewers, it's hilarious how they can't keep their contempt out of the vlogs. It's incredibly immature.

BYU dorms have full kitchens. They're built like 2-4 bedroom apartments, all sharing a full kitchen and living room. You can choose to have a roommate in your bedroom or not.ba1006 wrote:First of all, when you live on campus they close down for Christmas break. Is she not going to be able to live at their house during that time? They also close for spring break and various other reasons. Is she expected to live in her car? When I was in college and also when my older kids were there, we were not allowed to have anything electrical in our dorms for safety reasons. The only exception was a mini-fridge and that had to be approved. I suppose she could be living off campus but I doubt it.rulatows000 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 31, 2020 3:29 pm Jesus, you'd think Shari was moving to Antarctica with the dramatic 'break-up letter' and the "This is my last Christmas with my family" Instagram post. Even if Ruby does lock her out of the house when she turns 18, she's going to BYU, lol, not another country. I'm a mixture of annoyed at her for being dramatic and a bit concerned that she seems to think she'll never, ever see her family again because she's going to a college right next to home that her dad works at.
I wonder if they'll let the kid's show off what they got for Christmas in a separate video. Could barely see anything the way they filmed it. The only thing that stood out was how Chad got Love Crunch for Christmas because it's too good of food for him to have the rest of the year, apparently. I don't understand what Ruby's obsession with Love Crunch is anyway. Lol, you can get it at Wal-mart for like 3 bucks, it's literally just granola, chocolate, and berries. Like what's the deal that the kids aren't allowed to have it besides as a Christmas gift?

Well, if we "don't get it", why don't they explain it? Because he's been back from Anasazi for a good long while, and it looks like he's still being punished.imoverit wrote:I think it's the same room he always had in this house, he just now has a bed and some furniture so we really get to see just how small it is. ^ They want to respect Chad and protect his privacy. That's why they don't explain it. Didn't you know? This family is all about keeping personal matters private. They would never want to embarrass or shame their children in public. How dare you even ask such questions! You're just another awful viewer.

Well ruby filmed the puberty talk with either Abby or Julie and that is definitely something I wouldn't want publicly filmed.natalka81 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 02, 2021 1:50 am ^ They want to respect Chad and protect his privacy. Pretty sure that was sarcasm. They say they want me protect Chad's privacy, but they constantly film things that are embedded to their children and put them all over the internet.boychik0830 wrote:Well ruby filmed the puberty talk with either Abby or Julie and that is definitely something I wouldn't want publicly filmed.natalka81 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 02, 2021 1:50 am ^ They want to respect Chad and protect his privacy. Chad's room with blocked window sounds like prison to me, just in line of Ruby's (pretty sadistic) punishment regime. I believe children will never truly heal from this, but I sincerely hope I'm wrong and he will feel good about himself and live a happy life. It's really sad for the kids, the negligence is real.

The first bit about the mopeds and the local neighbour kids is just so cringe. - one Eve and Russell are playing with friends so don't film them its embarrassing for them and saying she doesn't recognise her own daughter and filming eve whilst talking to the camera feels so weird and wrong. Plus does she know those kids and therefore does she have permission to film them?
I wonder how long they will have those mopeds before they get stolen like the bikes cause they didn't put them away or just get taken away cause they wont play along too ruby doo Schooling for teddies or some other vague reason like they didn't take responsibilty for something

Also why do Chad and Russell need mini fridges. It would make more sense if they had one in the school room rather than gifting them to the kids. What will a 9 yr old do with a fridge? i guess now he and Chad can hide food from ruby before she freeze dries it all. Secondly why are so many of the gifts for school, microscope, science gifts galore and reading books. I bet that even if they love the science gifts they wont be allowed to do them out of school time- and they will probably be filmed too as a vlog ( xmas gift epic science lesson!) its sad cause i had science gifts growing up, cause I love science, and the fun was doing them in my own time- they wont acually be able to truly enjoy them

They are so dispicable. How long have they been in that house and Chad is just now getting a proper bed? I wonder where they've been storing it all these months so they could finally present it to him as a Christmas gift. This is so sad. To teach your child he has to be grateful and on best behavior in order to get a piece of comfort for sleeping. They truly treat him like a dog and how is that ok? I guess it's better than nothing, knowing Shari is leaving within the year, they could have held out to pass her bed on to him, if he was a good boy.

I bet if ruby thinks he is not grateful for his bed he will be forced to live outside before he turns 18 so learns to be grateful for what he has. I know this doesn't seem like something that would happen but consider how evil ruby is this could easily happen.Happy+Charlie wrote: ↑Sat Jan 02, 2021 9:09 am They are so dispicable. and Ruby always says how she spent summers and holidays with her cousins and how important it is to her that her kids are good friends with her sisters' kids and yet we NEVER see any aunts, uncles or cousins of Ruby and her siblings, it just doesn't add up. You'd think that if they were such good friends they would hang out or at least visit each other from time to timelmmomSD wrote: ↑Thu Dec 24, 2020 11:05 pm What I don't understand is why, if Kevin comes from a large family, and Chad supposedly had a ton of siblings, and Jenn had at least a few, why none of these aunts and uncles and cousins the kids must have are ever even mentioned. I understand if they don't want to be on camera, but it's like they don't exist, with the exception of Aunt Linda.
I too don't get their obsession with bodily functions. They seem to be permanently trapped at the age where pee, poop and farts are funny. Ellie shits her pants on the regular (laxative abuse in her attempts to stay skinny)? Bonnie shared that awful story about pooping her pants in Hawaii, and Ruby had Chad pee in a bottle in the car with his sister sitting right next to him, then had the temerity to send him off to Anasazi for some sin--maybe he got accused of being a porn addict as well, since that's this "therapist's" MO. These are all things I wish I didn't know, especially the bit about Chad. They're not only fascinated with their bowels and bladders, they seem to believe everyone else is interested too. And I'm betting that if one commented that maybe it was an overshare, people would come to their defense saying what a funny story it was.

on another note, why on earth would they give knives to kids under 18??? there's no way I'd trust Eve and Russel (and honestly other kids as well) with knives, they are just kids and kids have crazy ideas! is it a mormon thing? I never understood how these youtube families would give their kids knives and guns like it's a normal gift every child would love

It's clear to me that Ruby buys the kids christmas presents that she wants them to have, rather than what they want to have. I think the mini fridge thing is her wanting to spend money and not knowing the boys on a very personal level so she just got those. Their christmas presents always seem to be unnecessarily expensive versions of ordinary things, nothing that's ever fun.Wonderfreedom123 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 02, 2021 7:07 am Also why do Chad and Russell need mini fridges. In the vlog she asked something like, have you ever gotten a christmas present and all the neighborhood kids got the same thing?? No I've never lived in a neighborhood where all the little under-8 kids rode mopeds. That is so weird. Didn't Shari say she wanted to get a scooter for BYU? Is this what she means? Maybe that's where Ruby got the idea.

Mopeds.... no helmets.
Mini fridges....filled with individually bottled waters.
The sheer irresponsibility of these people is amazing.

I agree with you. The thing that disgusts me so much is this is a family filled with waste. I know not everyone can afford a proper bed, but dang it when you can afford to buy prepared food just to freeze dry it because it's the current obsession you have (and that is all it is for Ruby, an obsession, homeschooling was her last obsession), your children should be equipped with necessities of life, and those necessities should not be treated as rewards or gifts. Ruby and Kevin, you suck as parents, no matter what you think and want to say.boychik0830 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 02, 2021 9:18 amI bet if ruby thinks he is not grateful for his bed he will be forced to live outside before he turns 18 so learns to be grateful for what he has. I hope Chad is just towing the line at home and he will escape them and their religion if this is what it is teaching him. You are only worthy of comforts and love if you do as we say. Such brain-washing going on there for a typical teenager.

Re: 8 Passengers: No beds, no food, but mom loves motherhood! | Part 18
She clearly doesn't know her children, and I think Shari's expression and comment about her gifts of drawing supplies verifies it. I could see getting a girl Eve's age or Julie maybe Abby something like that without asking for it because you want to open them up to trying new things and seeing what they like and may be good at. Typically not Shari's age. Shows you Ruby has never had the thought to buy Shari drawing stuff until she is almost 18 years old. That's the sort of stuff I began getting my daughter as soon as she knew how to hold a crayon and continued excelling at each year getting her age appropriate materials.imoverit wrote: ↑Sat Jan 02, 2021 10:48 amIt's clear to me that Ruby buys the kids christmas presents that she wants them to have, rather than what they want to have. At least her grandkids' gifts will be easy, she will just copy what Jennifer and Chad have gotten for each of the grandkids. (Boys all get a bank at certain age, girls get a jewelry box, etc.---by the way not knocking their ideas cause I do think they are great ideas....just pointing out why I think Ruby's work is already done for her)

Re: 8 Passengers: No beds, no food, but mom loves motherhood! | Part 18
They will give their children basic necessities as a reward for being grateful for what they have. Things like a bed, clothes and food should not be a reward for being good as those are basic human rights. When the children complain about the few basic rights they have and are ungrateful for them they lose everything they have. I don't know any privileged parent that would take away basic rights and make a bed a gift. Only poor families should be giving their children a bed as a gift not families who have lots of money. Why does Chad have the least privileges out of all the kids unless ruby regrets having him.Happy+Charlie wrote: ↑Sat Jan 02, 2021 12:49 pmI agree with you. Re: 8 Passengers: No beds, no food, but mom loves motherhood! | Part 18
So we all know that Ruby jumps from fixation to fixation, and they are all incredibly random. She acts like each is the most important thing to her, then she quickly drops it and jumps to the next. Does anyone want to take a stab at what you think her next one will be? Most recently we've had the clothing line, life coaching, homeschooling, and freeze drying. She seems to be unpredictable with these so it might be fun to try to guess what it'll be next
