So apparently today’s Instagram story of freeze drying has been replaced by... big expensive pasta making machine! Seriously, how many large kitchen electronics can she have? At first I thought she was gonna freeze dry the pasta but apparently she did feed it to her kids. I wonder if this will be her new obsession and she’s gonna track down her ancestors to Italy and Kevin’s gonna get all snobby about it and buy Italian designer clothes and they’re gonna go to Italy without face masks, and convert their newly discovered dead (probably catholic) Italian ancestors to Mormonism... we’ll see I guess. But at least with this pasta thing the kids are eating something.

The Griffith's have such a strange relationship with food. Ruby posted on her story some dinner she made that would maybe be enough for a family of 4. The portion she showed her having looked so tiny as well. I feel so bad for these kids, I wonder if they've ever had a normal sized serving of food
Abby once had breakfast at an aunt's house and she couldn't stop talking about, because it was delicious and she was allowed to eat as much as she wanted (I assume it was an aunt on Kevin's side). Then on Eve's last birthday, Ruby let her order her own meal off of the kid's menu at a restaurant, and Eve was talking about how it was "a lot of food for a little girl", which was heartbreaking. Chad gained weight hiking 12 miles a day eating only rations of rice and lentils, so I think it is safe to say he hasn't experienced a plate with an appropriate portion of food.

I am convinced that Ruby intentionally doesn't get the kids gifts that they want, whether it is something she learned from her own mother, or it is a purely narcissistic thing. My narc mother still only get us things she wants us to have, and we would never get something we asked for. Either way, it is not an accident. I could do a better job shopping for them just by watching vlogs. Julie does love her Ripstick, but I am not sure if that equates to a love of skateboards. That seemed to be part of Kevin's gift and he doesn't know his kids very well, so....

Just when I thought her beauty got her taken off the scapegoat list, Ruby blames Julie for Russell taking a chunk out of the wall with her new skateboard. Julie should have acted more excited over the presents. Now she'll probably have to repaint the house and sleep in the dog house until high school. By the way, is it normal for parents not to give their kids Christmas gifts? This is the first time I have heard of a family doing that.
Yknow now that I think about it, I do recall hearing Saint Jennifer say a while back in some video (I don’t remember specifically which one or I’d link it) something along the lines of “well to me a gift isn’t exactly something you WANT, but instead it’s something that I want you to have” so no wonder all the little kids get the weirdest for birthdays and holidays and never anything they wanted or needed, because people in that family seem like they couldn’t be bothered to care about the wants and needs of anyone besides themselves- if it’s a gift being given by this person then it only seems to matter what this person wants to give you and not if you’d get use or even enjoy it. And while I do agree that sure it’s fine to give someone something that they might not have asked for but if you thought they would appreciate it, it’s downright selfish of the gift giver to say that a gift shouldn’t be something you actually want or need but rather what I think you should have. Like those porcelain birds she gave all the granddaughters a couple of years ago, I get they might’ve been thinking of it as a “you can pass this down when you’re older” type of gift, but how many of those fragile birds are even still in tact because kids probably played with them as that was the only toy grandma thought was suitable for a child. And no, it is not normal in the slightest for people that do celebrate to just not participate in sharing gifts, even if it’s something from the dollar store it would still show some thought was there instead of just nothing at all. Did they not give their kids anything for Christmas? I can’t be bothered to watch a second of them anymore.
I remember a couple years ago when they were doing a photoshop for the cookbook, the one where all the kids messed up the kitchen. It was Abby’s birthday and her presents where probably expired marigold seeds (the Ruby of flowers), one of those outdated embroidery pattern kit, and like some irrelevant dollar store puzzle. I mean how hard is it to get her a damn $20 gift card or a generic pink hoodie from target? It’s like they put effort into thinking what would be boring and make clutter in her room, but it also has to be old fashioned. Like someone above said, I could buy better presents for those kids just from watching a couple blogs...

If my twelve year old daughter was asking for bean dip and potato soup, I would be so happy to buy that for her whenever she asked, considering all the processed crap that kids that age are usually asking for. And granola? If your teenage son wants granola buy him some dam granola. Making your kids wait till birthdays and Christmas to get food they like is just retarded.
I was glad to see Julie got some nice gifts, like the Nike clothes and the skateboard. Is Julie even really into skateboarding, though? She didn't seem to react much to it. I agree that Ruby and Kevin just don't know their kids at all. They just seem to throw in one random expensive gift into every birthday or Christmas gift exchange to make themselves look good, even if its not something the kid is remotely interested in. Also, for Christ's sake Kevin, you're a grown ass man with money, a car, a computer - you can surely buy your kids something besides 75% off candy from the BYU candy store. Again - how is that a birthday gift?! If I worked at a place right next to a candy shop where I get an employee discount, I'd probably brings my kids treats home every week. Not twice a year for my one birthday and Christmas gift from me to them.

I think the gifting food idea came from that time where Chad would hang out with some other youtubers kid’s (during the whole crush on Kressly era) Every time someone had a birthday party their friends would give them gift bags filled with their favorite snacks plus a gift card, which I think it’s a good idea cause the snacks give you something to wrap, and then the gift card is the actual gift. But of course the Griffith’s missed the point and only give the snacks and forget about the gift card.

I don’t particularly think food itself is a bad gift to give someone, some of the things I look forward to most at holidays are homemade cookies and yummies from family etc especially if it’s tradition like sugar cookies for my family. But the fact that they make it a big deal to gift their kids healthy food that they enjoy and should be feeding them on the regular is what is a red flag in my eyes. I feel like kids that are fed properly wouldn’t typically want things like “bean dip” or soup as a gift, they’d ask for something they aren’t normally given like a treat like a big family size bag of skittles or something that really isn’t a typical thing for them to have so it’d be fun as a gift. So seeing a kid ask for something like that for a birthday gift is crazy to me when that should be something that’s just in their kitchen for when they’re hungry. They have the means to have a full pantry and then some, so why do they have such constricting views of food and act like they’re living off of their last $20 for the month with the types of portions they have regularly. It’d also be a different story if she was saying that was what she wanted for her special birthday dinner, but that doesn’t seem to be the case from everything I’ve seen on here and that it was asked as a gift, please do correct me if I’m wrong.

Thank God for Landon, Julie grew up with the same restrictions with food, I'm sure, but seems Landon brought to the marriage a healthy relationship with food. Therefore, Julie and Landon's kids get 3 square meals plus snacks each day (recent vlog) "because they are growing kids and need the energy." It's a shame Bonnie, Ellie and Ruby can't be bothered to do the same for their kids.

Omg the accuracy

Between having too much money and having too much time (Ruby hardly has a job at all and grown kids), I guess expensive unnecessary appliances is where you end up.

I just have to take a second and point out a comment Ruby said in this last vlog. She talks about why she loves sharing her birthday with Martin Luther King Jr. because she has “always had that day off” (meaning because MLK birthday is celebrated as a holiday and there is no school). The only problem with that statement is that MLK day is celebrated the 3rd Monday of January and not a specific day 😂😂 So no, she doesn’t always have the day off, and no, they don’t even have the same birthday!

Jesus, Kevin what were you thinking giving her a noodle maker?! You saw her manic psycho freeze drying phase, taking all of your children's food from right out of their hands to throw it in the freeze dryer, ruining perfectly good food with freeze drying fails, stacking freeze dried foods to the ceiling. And now you get her a noodle maker??? I can already see it, the kids hiding and sharing a single cookie between themselves, the house a disaster, no food to be found besides a mountain of holy, sanctified pasta that the kids are forbidden to touch, Ruby in crazed trance creating thousands and thousands of batches of noodles to feed herself when the apocalypse comes.

Omg  someone needs to cut off her spending. If she wants to throw money away on gadgets, she should get her own damn job that doesn't include exploiting her children.

Ruby is the only one who looks happy in that picture.
Does she even know when MLK Jr's birthday is?

She doesn't seem to know when MLK's birthday is, or even her own. Unless Utah has a state holiday to celebrate Ruby's birthday, she is lying about having it off every year.

Did you watch the vlog? Clearly they all hate her. There was no party planned, she had everyone go to an escape room at the last minute which was her second choice after he zoo was at capacity. None of the kids even tried to make her a gift, much less buy one. Kevin just ordered her the pasta maker, not even wrapping it. It seems the kids were ordered to make her a cake, which they did. A sad grey one with white frosting, only decorated with the words "it is your birthday.", and 36 candles (she is 39). It was 100x sadder than Julie's birthday. It feels like this family is falling apart at the seams, and Ruby is the only one left trying to put on a happy face.

ETA: I find it extra hilarious that the kids are supposed to be learning more than they ever have before, yet failed to capitalize the sentence, and made the saddest birthday cake in the history of cakes, despite being their homeschool focus.

Didn't see any of Ruby's siblings wishing her a happy birthday via IG story or IG comment last week. Jennifer did a birthday post on IG, but didn't tag Ruby (@8passengers). She also didn't tag Ruby in Julie's birthday post either, but tags every family member, even Bonnie's dog Lady. Do they not want to be associated with Ruby on social media?

To be fly on the wall... Remember how eager Jennifer was to stand up for them when they faced the social media Armageddon. Now it is all silent. Even watching their vlogs and interactions with the kids, it is clear that household isn't happy one.

To be fair, the "it is your birthday" is from The Office, which the family has been obsessed with for years. But yes, overall the birthdays in the family are so sad and generic. There's nothing personal about them. Birthdays don't need to cost a lot of money to be good, but this family can more than afford decorations and gifts the kids would enjoy. It's pathetic how they put in no effort to make their kids feel special for a day. It's so painfully obvious the parents don't know their kids.

I don't recall watching any videos from Kevin's birthdays. Are they any better?

'The Office' capitalized "it", and the sentiment was from a character with no social skills, common sense, or empathy for others. I don't think it was a mistake they chose it specifically for Ruby. I'll do a side-by-side of Kevin and Ruby's cakes.....it speaks for itself....

If the effort put into the cake isn't a telltale sign of happiness/unhappiness with their mom, I don't know what is. It is almost sad, and makes me think for a moment it is a set-up by Ruby so she can garner some sympathy, but then I think why would she do that? Sad to say, also, but I've been the recipient of a similar cake with no decoration/wording on it, and it spoke volumes to me about the relationship (I didn't matter).

Sometimes I can't even believe that they are a family of social media influencers considering the significant lack of social skills. Besides Chad, they are all so painfully awkward. I mean it's so hard to watch. I am not surprised they find The Office to be such a hilarious show, clearly they haven't been exposed to any sort of actual humor in their mormon bubble.
