Why is it so hard to put it in the garage or at least closer to the door. California has laws regarding landscaping because they live in a drought zone. Real grass landscaping isn’t allowed in her area. I think a lot of people in California opt for artificial turf over real grass because of water conservation. Even if it looks fake on camera, the stuff they use these days usually looks pretty decent in person. I am surprised Jess didn't test out how bad it looks on camera though, that seems like something she totally would have done. Honestly though, I think they made the right choice there. They kept ruining their grass with the bounce houses in their last yard, and for that small of an area I probably would have done the same and I don't live in a drought-prone area.
My issue with this is, acting like the world is ending over the something like an outage that’s seemingly not going to take more than a few hours at most to fix, it’s basically her showing her kids that in inconveniencing situations the way to behave is to panic and overreact instead of being smart and teaching them how to actually deal with it calmly and safely. I don’t know how long the power was out for, but if there was that type of a reaction to the point of including news clips etc for something like that - fully knowing that they have a safe space to stay warm and fed and that everyone accounted for is completely fine - then I’d really hate to hear how they need to get through an actual crisis. Any loving parents job in that moment is to comfort their kid and even maybe explain why they’ll be fine and what’s going on, not reach for the camera and film the entire thing and everyone’s reactions to then post online. A few years back there was a MAJOR outage affecting millions of people where I live that lasted over a week in the dead of winter, so no heat or hot water when it was -20°C before wind chill. Not trying to make it into a “this was way worse!”, trying to just think how the hell she’d ever actually help her family when they’re desperately in need in a situation like that and not just slam her foot on the gas and go to 100 so to speak.
