My thoughts exactly. I remember Alex saying something to the effect of, "Dr. Hatch, there's no one else we'd rather be on this journey with than you." It just struck me as so odd. Your doctor is there to offer medical advice and perform procedures, not to be your BFF. I'm not saying bedside manner doesn't have its place, but at the end of the day, I'd rather have a doctor who is medically competent than a doctor who holds my hand and sings kumbaya.PinkMoscato wrote: ↑Sat Oct 09, 2021 9:00 amSomething definitely seemed off about that story. I don’t know if it was to get out of having surgery or to place the burden of infertility treatments on Alex or what, but it seemed bizarre.goshiper wrote:
I’m confused why they like Dr. Hatch so much. Maybe they should try something new…..
Also, I was laughing when Alex was saying she would make a video of their TIPS AND TRICKS for how to get sperm moving. Like, y’all had 0 motility. You have no tips and tricks.
And does anybody else feel like Phil told a white lie to get out of having that surgery years ago? ‘Cuz that’s what I’m sensing.
And yeah- their attachment to Dr. Hatch is weird. She isn’t any sort of a world renowned fertility specialist. She hasn’t done anything groundbreaking. From the sounds of what their new doctors said, she skipped a bunch of tests and procedures. And, from watching their previous videos, she really just kept doing the same thing over and over again until finally one of them stuck. Such a waste of time and money. I think the only reason they like her is because she panders to them, lets them film her/all of their appointments, and gives into all of Alex’s whims. She even seems to go along with the lies about implanted embryos on “life support” and “twins”.

What does everyone think about Phil's possible surgery? Who agrees that losing weight could help? He is quite overweight.

I’m really interested in seeing if it would help. But honestly his results are so bad I sort of doubt it would truly fix it. I also wonder why insurance is potentially willing to cover this but not the other aspects of infertility treatment.Lauratheaussie wrote:What does everyone think about Phil's possible surgery? I’ve thought for a long time that his weight is probably a contributing factor. There are tons of studies showing that weight and infertility are linked. He sugar-coated it by saying he was advised to exercise more an “drink more vegetables” but I think that means his doctor definitely brought it up.
Also I noticed in this video that when he talked about future family plans he mentioned just one embryo left, and how they were going to implant that one, but then they hoped to conceive naturally from there if the surgery worked, instead of doing another round of IVF. I saw a comment on their YouTube video about that too- that they only mentioned 1 embryo.
I wonder if they just threw away all the low-grade and abnormal ones when they transferred them out here, and are just sweeping it under the rug because it doesn’t fit with their pro-life Christian image. It wouldn’t be the first time they changed their moral views on IVF for their own convenience.

Honestly, how are you going to make a vlog on male factor infertility and be too afraid to say the word "testicles"? It's not a dirty word, Phil, it's a scientific term. Grow up.
Anyone else notice that as soon as Phil started talking about how 3 kids may be all they have and how they'd have to be happy with that, Alex interrupts and starts marveling once again at his sperm count? She's unhinged. Her eye is on the prize and she won't be happy until they naturally conceive. They've moved the goal post once again.

I doubt that anything can help him. He was thinner when they were first married and still they had problems. I think he tried his hardest to avoid that surgery and I don’t think he has the willpower to lose weight. Even with their garden… I think he just isn’t making healthy choices.Lauratheaussie wrote: ↑Tue Oct 12, 2021 11:34 pm What does everyone think about Phil's possible surgery? I think Phil would be perfectly fine with the 3 that they have. I was really surprised when Alex was talking about how she thought it would be easy to conceive now because she’s been pregnant once. Did she think all of their fertility issues would just disappear?

They’re also completely babying him- titling a vlog “the one test no man wants done”. It’s an ultrasound of his balls. It’s not even going to be painful. What a joke.ChickyChickyParmParm wrote:Honestly, how are you going to make a vlog on male factor infertility and be too afraid to say the word "testicles"? I watched both of their most recent videos and they really just keep talking about the one genetically normal embryo. I am so so curious about all those other ones they made. I really want them to discuss the plans they have for them, because originally they were super pro-life and talked about implanting them no matter what. But in the most recent vlog, Alex used the term “incompatible with life” and I wonder if they threw them away.

Latest video screeching, finger pointing, clinic visit. Apparently Philip would like to be "knee deep in farming". What a joke. I watch the Hollars, Ben has lost weight and works tiresly on their previously uncultivated land, has stripped back and transformed a battered mobile home into a beautiful place for his family. Meg despite having a baby and other children works hard prepping food for storage. They are a role model for farming from scratch.
It will be interesting to see what happens with the Congelliere's latest IVF. I actually thought their remaining embryo was not used because it was unsuitable. I get a little lost in all their babbling.

I watched that too! He made really good points about family vloggers. After that video came out, it looks like Phil and Alex did damage control by deleting the videos.

I’m killing myself laughing at the sponcon on their latest video
Alex: ‘The adult educational boxes are so fun, great for date night!’
Phil (off screen) *sadly puts away massage oil, flavored lube and champagne*
(I’m still fairly convinced Phil’s smooth down there, like a Ken doll, and has been trying to get Alex pregnant by doing a motivational speech from another room)

Halloween came and went a not a single mention of it from either of them. I guess it's only worth it when you can bum free oversized costumes off friends. What a disappointment for the girls.

Good lord. I couldn’t get through Alex’s newest video. It seems to me like they really are not listening to what the geneticist was telling them.

I think she was being truthful in saying that Phil has a genetic marker that has an unknown link to heart defects. I also think she was being truthful in saying that the genetic counselor said they don’t need to test Cassidy (I probably would though anyway, out of my own curiosity). And I do think it’s true that they are going to put his file to be flagged for when more is found out about that gene.goshiper wrote:Good lord. I couldn’t get through Alex’s newest video. Where I’m uncertain is that I can’t tell if she wanted Phil to have a genetic disorder or not. She almost sounded disappointed that it wasn’t a big fat YES. It’s like she wanted to blame it on him and have an excuse to use a sperm donor or something for their next round of babies. She didn’t sound relieved at all that it might not be genetic. And that’s really weird to me.
Also weird to me is that IF the gene is cardiac linked, it would have up to a 50/50 chance of causing a cardiac defect in a baby. She said the only way they wouldn’t continue to grow their family through IVF is if this next embryo also had the same defect… but going off of basic stats, 1 out of 2 would still be that 50/50. Why would she need it to be both babies to deter her? Just strange all around.
And I do agree: MLMs are predatory and I wish she’d just gotten a real sponsor.

Yup. The geneticist says "Is it genetic? Yes. Can we quantify that risk? No." That's all Alex needed to move forward. For years they've ignored facts, science and statistics, so why should this be any different? They'll just continue to make embryos and hope for the best. She's already convinced they can pray away infertility. Now you can add heart defects to that list.

Here we go, plans to enlarge the "homestead" by getting a cow. "We wanted to do this ten years ago" says Alex, or words to that effect, "from curiosity" - really? You don't live that lifestyle from curiosity, but from a desire to do so. They jump on so many bandwagons, the RV was a prime example, they chirped that they had always wanted to do this lifestyle also. Make you minds up, and stop copying other people, many of whom work a lot harder than these idiots. Not to mention further IVF plans.
Oh and the long ramble about Alex's breast milk - yes Alex we know you had loads, and it looks as if you are still breast feeding, though I may have misunderstood the latter.
I can only hazard a guess at what will happen if Phil takes ill, he is looking more and more overweight, and if a new baby is thrown into the mix, and needs medical attention, my mind boggles. Perhaps they will take a leaf out of "Homestead Living", whose older children all muck in with chores.
We shall see!

I finally got around to watching that video and it is crazy to watch them list all the insane uses for her breast milk (bathing the girls in it, making soap and lotion, etc) and then at the very very end saying she might donate some except that actually it’s expired. But then listing that expiration would be 12 months in the deep freezer- which would mean it isn’t expired?Angelsong01 wrote:Here we go, plans to enlarge the "homestead" by getting a cow. I just remember how entitled she felt to donated breast milk when she had the first two girls- how badly she wanted it- and it really just shows how selfish she is that she didn’t start donating her excess when she noticed she had so much. She so strongly believes that breast is best, but won’t give it to another baby.

Well, you can add "bathed in breast milk" to the neverending list of reasons these girls will all need therapy one day.

LOL the latest video. Garden doesn't have to be beautiful on the outside Phil says. He also thinks that green grass will just appear out of no where without doing anything.
You actually have to put in work to have green grass etc... It just doesn't happen.
No garden edging they just planted in the middle of the grass. They have a huge dirt patch! Put in some effort and put in some edging and proper garden beds. Where are the flowers? There is no colour at all.
Not sure they have any idea what they are doing and its funny to watch. Any bets they will still have a dirt patch in a year?

There they are handing advice out left right and centre, without any real experience at all. We are not interested Alex, in your muddled lives.
