Aloha you’re spot on. Kendal is just rude. Then further down in those ‘ask me anything’ she said that the hardest thing about being a YouTuber is coming up with content because (sob sob) they’re not the type of family that can put out absolutely anything and receive loads of views. Does she not understand that people don’t watch because she has pissed off so many people. She is rude, sarcastic and a bully. Way back when comments were banned on YouTube the only place people could interact with her was on Instagram or Tiktok and if, god forbid, a viewer questioned or criticized, they were blocked. Maybe these subscribers didn’t unsubscribe from YT but for sure they chose not to watch. I am blocked from tiktok, IG and from commenting on YT. Yes I do still watch the videos but that’s because of this tiny community. The vast majority of past viewers and subscribers have just moved on. They didn’t necessarily stop watching because the content was boring (which is it), but most likely because Kendal has lambasted them on another platform. She has dug her own grave and now she needs to go lie in it.

Yes! Your elaborations to what I had wrote are spot on as well! I suspect, as you mentioned, that the channel has a lot of “ghost followers”, a lot of followers who followed at some point but never really watched or stop watching and didn’t bother unsubscribing. I very rarely unsubscribe from a channel even if I don’t watch anymore; I don’t know why but eh. The only time I unsubscribe is if the person did something really terrible and I want to revoke my support lol. I was asking myself the other day why I still watch their channel because I’m not a fan but I still have this small hope that the kids could maybe turn out okay so I keep waiting and hoping for a positive change even though it’s unlikely to happen. As you said, I think their situation wouldn’t be as dire if they hadn’t gotten their comments back and if Kendal hadn’t been on Instagram and tiktok while they didn’t have comments being rude to people. She really shows her true colours on tiktok and it’s scary, it’s YouTube Ken turned up by 1000%. It’s like when someone’s drunk and they just spill the beans on all their opinions that usually they would keep quiet about, that’s what tiktok does to Kendal. She definitely dug her own grave with how she treats others especially since she’s always preaching kindness and forgiveness and grace. Why doesn’t she try giving some of these commenters some of that grace she’s always talking about?

I really want to know what the other Flip City parents think about Kenny and Daniel. I would be so annoyed if I was another parent but it’s hard to tell what the vibe is from their videos. I also wonder if any of the parents of the girls who are in their videos give their consent. I personally would not want my young daughter on YouTube, especially in their cheer uniform or practice ware. I’m sure Kenny and Danny Boy don’t ask for permission because they think they can do whatever they want but I’d be mad as hell.

On a side note- it’s my birthday tomorrow and I just want to say I really love that I found this sub and am so so happy I can snark on this family with you all!

Second of all, I would love to know the thoughts of the other flip parents. I remember someone commenting here that is local to the Riches and said that the gym owner Lori told the other parents to be on their best behavior when it comes to the Riches. They don’t want to lose the free advertising they get from their channel perhaps. I wouldn’t be surprised if they are a big gossip topic for them. Also, like you, I wouldn’t like my child being filmed at cheer practice in a sports bra and spandex shorts and then being posted all over the internet without my permission. There’s no way they got everyone at flip to sign a release form so I’m sure they don’t have the consent of most parents. It’s just like how they won’t show even a few seconds of their girls routines yet show big chunks of other gyms routines. They only care about themselves.

No wonder EV has moldy dishes and food in her room… she takes after her mom in so many ways, why not her uncleanliness too? *eye roll* I have never ever found moldy or old food in my purse or room. I could maybe understand finding a small snack but a whole sandwich?? How do you forget about a sandwich in a big Starbucks bag?? Anyway, being messy is one thing, I don’t like mess but I can handle messy, but dirty is a whole other story!!!

We’ve three teenage girls and they do spend a reasonable amount of time in their own rooms but we (husband and I) rarely see our bedroom from the time we wake up til we go to sleep again. I’d be seriously peed off if I found my bed messed up and kids in it. And we only have one TV and it’s in the family room. If we are all watching a movie then we all sit in the living room together. The Rich family dynamic is so weird.

You would think they would want some privacy in their own rooms considering they spend every second of every day together. Then you have Daniel barging in their rooms with a camera to “check on them” which must be super annoying especially when they have friends over. There is absolutely zero privacy in that house.

Here’s your Christmas gift… some gossip!

So at Brin & EV’s competition, Kendal made a big deal about the fact that Brin’s team won jackets and how their coach was shocked they never won jackets and that they would this season. They kind of dissed Fire saying that when Flip says they have won jackets and rings, they mean they have recently/regularly, not ages ago like Fire (they never said they were talking about Fire but it was pretty clear in my opinion that they were). Anyway, I went on Fire’s Instagram and guess who won jackets at the exact same competition? Fire did! Kudos to them! Getting wins under your belt when you’re an extremely small program is difficult because they don’t have a bunch of athletes to choose from, they just need to make so with what they have so I’m happy to see them getting a big-ish win especially in a division with 5 teams!! (This isn’t to minimize Brun’s win because I’m happy for her too!) I know in another video, Kendal and EV were saying how they are looking forward to actually winning this year, not losing everything like they did at Fire but maybe if they would’ve stuck with them, they could’ve won jackets without having to switch gyms.

Now that we know Fire was at that competition, it makes sense that Kendal said there was drama both days of the competition. I’m sure things were super awkward between the Riches and the coaches and athletes from Fire. I highly doubt they left on good terms, they have implied many times that it wasn’t on good terms, so I’m sure things were tense and that was likely the drama. They would’ve been competitive at different times since Flip is D1 and Fire is D2 but I’m sure they probably ran into them more than once.

Oh how I would love to have been a fly on the wall when the Riches vs Fire debacle that lead them to leave altogether happened.

Any idea why a family would change orthodontists, Chiroprators and Physiotherapists all around the same time. In various videos over the past few months they have mentioned having changed to new ‘offices’, as in, they no longer attend any of the same doctors/dentists they used to attend. Would this be because of an insurance issue? Or is it just coincidental that they would change all their practitioners despite seeming very happy with them up to that point?

I found it interesting that Kendal was venting on Instagram (I think) about how other channels can upload positive videos to YouTube and get tons of views, but when they upload a positive video nobody watches. She says that’s why she doesn’t upload happy or positive vlogs.

I guess she hasn’t considered that she and Daniel have cultivated a fan base who enjoy the negativity and click-bait titles. Other channels get tons of views for positive videos because they have worked hard to attract that type of audience over years.

You have a fan base who are drawn to negativity because that’s practically all you post. The people who watch positive vlogs tuned out a long time ago or decided not to follow you in the first place.

I just found it weird how she seemed to think this was something that happened to her, instead of something that she and Daniel made happen. It was their conscious decision to use click-bait and negativity. If you flat out say that you are not going to post positive videos, of course people who like that content aren’t going to watch you.

So I did some digging and this is what I’ve found. The Fire team is young, it’s their youth level 1 which is the one of the teams Kapri was going to be on (other was junior L2). I know it was Brin who got the jacket this time, if they would’ve stayed at fire, Kap would’ve got one so I know it’s different people but at least 1 Rich would’ve won a jacket whether they stayed at Fire or switched to Flip. Clearly they aren’t as bad as they’re made out to be since they won against 4 more teams. Since it was a youth, it didn’t have Raf, Mia, Gabby, Lyani (who I think you’re right and is at Fire), etc. because they’d be too old for it now. Going through the results from that competition and the Fire Instagram, it appears only their youth L1 competed at this specific competition, not sure why. It’s good EV’s friends weren’t there because I’m sure there would’ve been even more drama. I have a feeling the drama that caused the Riches to leave was two-fold, something that started with the kids and led to drama with the coaches or vice versa because they’ve talked down about the coach AND the athletes at Fire. I’m sure it’s awkward for them to see Coach D because of all the remarks they’ve made about him on YouTube since leaving; I’m sure someone has been filling him in about that stuff or he’s seeing it himself. D seemed to be really good to EV when she was at Fire like letting her help coach the mini team and he seemed to really encourage and support her through what we saw on the vlogs. I think he’s probably hurt by what happened as are the Riches which I’m sure caused tension that was palpable if they saw each other.

Why would you change medical practitioners when you have a whole treatment plan like for Brin’s teeth as you mentioned, her treatment is ongoing until she’s 18-19 years old and can get a surgery she needs. You’d think you’d want the same doctor following you especially in that case where it’s such a long term thing.

Switching things constantly seems to be a very normal occurrence in their life. Not only have they been constantly switching medical offices/physiotherapists/ortho/etc., they switch friends constantly, they’ve switched cheer gyms (3 gyms in Florida, 3 different gyms and this is only their 3rd season), getting rid of their 2 springer spaniels only to get Clover like a week later, Kendal being obsessed with and possessive over Clover until they got the cats and now she doesn’t have the time of day for Clover, not bothering to get a family doctor or pediatrician for the kids and instead just bringing them to walk in clinics, and so and so on and so forth. I don’t know why they can’t keep relationships of any sort. For the medical things, it could be an insurance issue, but it’s just interesting when you step back and look at the big picture of there being such inconsistencies in their whole life. I could see them maybe being the type to burn bridges with everyone in their lives; some people are just like that, they can’t stay with one thing too long because they always end up ruining it somehow.

Inconsistency seems to be the only consistent thing in their life.

Very interesting! Thanks for that. To the untrained eye (I literally know nothing about cheer), they looked ok. Some obvious mistakes and definitely out of sync at times but overall not bad. I wish I could see which one is Evie but it’s just too small

Thanks for pointing out where EV was! It’s so hard finding people in a routine. I admittedly hadn’t watched it yet when I posted the link since I had just found it but it made it easier following EV with your help

Anyway, I will share my thoughts keeping in mind that I’m definitely no more than an armchair expert when it comes to cheer and I don’t want to be too harsh since it was their first competition and all. I will be honest though and say I was a little underwhelmed with the routine; the way they’ve been talking up Flip, I expected more. Timing seemed to be a big issue with their team. The tumbling and flying especially towards the beginning of the routine were both quite out of sync. Then in the elite (middle of routine where flyers are flying), again the stunt groups’ timing was off and some were lacking flexibility in the last part of it where only one pulled a needle and the rest, scorpions. I don’t know enough about tumbling to critique that section (you’re qualified though so would be interested in your take!) other than the clear error when the girl stopped in the middle of her pass and then fell forward at the end; that was one of the tumble touches. I thought their jumps would’ve been higher but that was just my expectations, the section looked good. Their dance was good too, could’ve been a bit sharper in certain parts but was well choreographed and high energy. Overall, other than the tumbling mistake, there was no “fatal flaws” causing deductions like dropping a flyer or other big issues, the critiques I had are all minor things that are fixable as they practice. My being underwhelmed I think comes from how much Ken talks up their gym but it wasn’t a bad routine whatsoever, they were good. I look forward to seeing how things grow over the season and step up their difficulty. If the team puts in the work, I think they could go from good to great. Sorry this was long, I can’t write anything short apparently.

I have to say, if you’re right that it was EV who fumbled her tuck in the beginning which I’m pretty sure you are, I’m proud of her for not melting down after the routine. Last season, she was a sore loser and would just walk out after the routine, her and Kendal both admitted this in one of the cheer vlogs. For her to make a mistake like that and not have a meltdown shows a lot of growth so kudos to her! I think growth should always be encouraged.

Without music it’s difficult to establish if they are on beat or not but definitely agree with you that their synchronization is off at times. As for the tumbling, it’s pretty boring. We are in the midst of trying to book our next (2022) summer holidays to Florida. Not going to lie, we love it there. We asked our girls if they wanted to go somewhere else like Las Vegas, or cape cod or the OBX but they unanimously agreed on Florida….but a week in two different locations. And the eldest can only come for a week because it’s in the middle of competition season and she shouldn’t take two weeks off training. And the youngest wants to go for three weeks. Booking holidays used to be so simple when they were small .

Without music it’s difficult to establish if they are on beat or not but definitely agree with you that their synchronization is off at times. As for the tumbling, it’s pretty boring. Thanks for sharing your thoughts! The routine may have been better with the music; it’s too bad we couldn’t hear it. We definitely couldn’t see if they were on beat but their timing in terms of synchronization was quite off. Tumbling for level 3 really isn’t very interesting. Back tucks are essentially the hardest skill they can perform; no twisting skills, no layouts, etc. Plus they can only do a back tuck at the end of the pass which makes it hard to make a cool pass, it makes it boring seeing the same round off tuck or round off hand tuck etc. I’ll attach the level 3 tumbling rules from the US all star federation. There’s not one governing body for US cheer, there is several, but I think the rules are pretty much the same across the board. What I think is funny is that, when they show snippets of other teams, it’s usually level 5 and showing them doing fulls and other challenging tumbling passes; I think they want people who don’t understand cheer to think that’s what the Rich girls are doing too.

Just for your knowledge, the part you’re referring to at the beginning where they toss the flyers and they arched in the air is called “baskets” which is another required part of a cheer routine like tumbling, the elite stunt, dance section, etc. It was visually interesting and fun to watch but fairly easy for their level. I can see them changing their baskets to get higher difficulty points.

Their next competition is indeed in Daytona! From looking at the varsity tv schedule, it appears as though it’s “ The STATE Daytona Beach Nationals” on January 15 & 16. I’m hoping varsity will have the performances posted for free again; I’m too cheap to take out a subscription LOL.

Side note while we’re on the cheer topic; it’s really a shame that Kapri is so stiff/inflexible because she would make a fantastic flyer otherwise. Kap is personality plus and can do the whole sassy confident thing so well! Flyers need to be performers since there’s so much focus on them; when they’re flying, you really only see their faces, not the bases, so they need to really have good facials and really perform. I think Kap is made to be a performer of some sort and would excel as a flyer if only she had the flexibility needed to pull the various body positions.

Congrats on booking a holiday! That sounds fun In my childhood, we cruised a lot and all of them except 1 left from Florida so we got lots of opportunities to visit Florida and we always enjoyed it. Although I think Bermuda beats Florida as my favourite destination but Florida is certainly high on the list . We love Disney and universal but did venture outside the Orlando/theme park area. It’s a beautiful place so I don’t blame your girls on wanting to go! Have you ever swam with manatees while you’ve been in Florida? It’s one of the coolest experiences I ever had. If you’re interested, I can DM you more info on the tour we did because it was excellent, so much better than the other manatee tours!
