Yeah, that happens a lot. You'd think Emilia would turn her head when she hears her parents' voices but she hardly ever does. I guess there's always too much overall noise with the TV on, the dogs growling, and Jofus "singing".Gin0915 wrote:In the WIAW vid, title courtesy of Joblob, E doesn't even acknowledge Anna when she talks to her at the beginning. Hmm. I don't usually cook porridge oats, I just add hot water from the kettle and/or cold soy milk. Is that weird or wrong? I think it tastes fine.Nadezhda wrote:I just boil water, add it to the oatmeal & stir. Mine doesn't get hard or taste bad.. Lol. If I had to eat it with something it would be vanilla essence, but generally I'd never add anything to it because I like the plain, inoffensive taste of the oats.IceIce wrote:Oatmeal without anything doesn't taste too good, I think. That's why I add either a spoonfull of butter, berries, fruit etc to it. You probably had too little milk/water in it if it was too thick. Oatmeal does turn into solid rock after a while. It is not a very portable food. I have to rinse off my plate as soon as I finished my porridge, and the pot if I made it on the stove. Otherwise it is pain in the butt to wash.geekinthepink wrote:I don't own a microwave, so I had to make it on my stove. it turned out way too thick and it tasted awful. I put a bit of sugar in it and took it to work where I also added fruit and cinnamon. by the time I wanted to eat it, it was rock solid.

Re: TheStyleDiet/LeFloorTV - Part 21
I find this very interesting. It could possibly be a case of Emilia not being attached to Anna since she isn't very warm, loving, and maternal towards her child. The EFCNI states that "Securely attached babies cry when their mother leaves them. Crying is an expression of fear they experience during the moment of separation. Since they do not know whether their mother will come back, they feel alone, helpless, powerless and get even more scared." I've never noticed E crying when Anna leaves the room, in fact she seems rather indifferent to it. This sounded like Emilia to me: "Insecure-avoidant babies seem not to notice their mother's departure. They show little emotion when their mother returns. These babies avoid proximity and contact, for example ignoring their mother or turning the body away. They pay more attention to their game rather than to their mother. These children have learned not to show their feelings, because their mother most probably doesn't like it. These mothers show little sensitivity towards their child." This reminds me so much of A&E's relationship.Dandelion wrote:Yeah, that happens a lot. You'd think Emilia would turn her head when she hears her parents' voices but she hardly ever does. TMI why would anyone feel the need to share that information with the world? Alert the press, a breastfeeding mom has a clogged duct! She must be the first mom EVER to experience that. Let's give Princess Poo special treatment. She always makes a big deal out of stupid things like that....sheesh. What a drama queen.geekinthepink wrote:tmi. why would you tweet something like that. Because it gives her yet another excuse to be avoidant with Dofungus, be lazy and moody. Can't you just hear the minions screaming, "Leave her alone, she's in pain. She has a right to be in a bad mood, you'd be too, etc., etc., etc.,", lol.proudmama wrote:TMI why would anyone feel the need to share that information with the world? So that's normal behaviour for her? I wasn't sure if it's normal in general not having baby experience.Dandelion wrote:Yeah, that happens a lot. It's not normal at all for a baby to ignore his/her parents and not turn to the sound of their voice. A secure baby would cry when their parent leaves the room (especially mom) and be excited when he/she returns. A secure baby would also respond and perk up when hearing his/her mom's voice. Anna doesn't have one maternal bone in her body. Considering how much time E spends alone in her swing or on the sofa or being ignored when she cries, it's not surprising she'd ignore Anna. I'd ignore a person too if they always ignored me.Gin0915 wrote:So that's normal behaviour for her? Did you see that vid? Anna goes to talk to E and E just makes this very odd sound, like a very low crying sound, but she isn't crying, just staring straight ahead while slightly twitching her hands and feet. Anna and Jofatty talk all the time while blogging but they are not necessarily talking to a person in the room. Emilia may have learned that her mother's talk is mostly directed at her youtube audience, not her daughter, and resigned to that. I don't know if Emilia recognizes her own name yet but since the dogs are talked to in the exact same manner that she is talked to, she has no way of telling when someone is actually talking to her.proudmama wrote: It's not normal at all for a baby to ignore his/her parents and not turn to the sound of their voice. Having said that, there are situations where Emilia reacts to her parents, looks at them, and smiles, so all is not lost I guess.

I don't know, I watched it but couldn't tell what kind of sound E was making. It sounded a little like the sound my son makes when he wants something. E might have been hoping A would pick her up when she heard Anna's voice. I thought it was odd though that E didn't even turn to look at Anna when she spoke to her.Gin0915 wrote:Did you see that vid? They're ruining that poor kid with TV. How can she say E is "watching" peppa pig? Babies can't watch television as they have no clue what they're looking at! E is going to be addicted to TV if they keep using it as a babysitter and it WILL backfire on them. Of course once again, E was propped up on the sofa. When are they going to learn that even if they're in the room, E could fall onto the floor in a split second?! Their ignorance and stupidity baffles me.
Re: TheStyleDiet/LeFloorTV - Part 21
That's very true. Anna's voice for the dogs and E are one in the same. It weirds me out how a mother could talk to her baby the same way she talks to dogs. I suppose E may not know if Anna's voice is directed at her or the dogs if it sounds the same all the time. However, even when I'm not talking to my baby, he still turns to look at me when I talk. I think with all the sounds going on at once (the troll grunting and babbling, Anna whining, the dogs barking, the TV going) E may have learned to tune out her environment. I did a post yesterday about how babies who respond little to their environment do so because they are often ignored so they become indifferent and are often mistaken for an "easy" or "quiet" baby. These babies have learned communicating with their parents through crying is ineffective so they become rather unresponsive.Dandelion wrote:Anna and Jofatty talk all the time while blogging but they are not necessarily talking to a person in the room. Re: TheStyleDiet/LeFloorTV - Part 21
Did anyone else notice in her What I Ate video, around 1:13 when she is talking about how she didn't get to do her hair, when she says she was sooo busy, she rolls her eyes when she says "looking after Emilia"..... just her tone of voice when she talks about taking care of her daughter is so disturbing.
I think E didn't respond to Anna on the sofa because she is so used to being dumped & left there for hours on end in front of the TV while her parents are off talking and babbling on in the background....and she is just getting used to being left on her own. She probably tries to block out everything that's going on around her. Poor baby. The dogs probably jump and crawl over her all the time while she's left on the sofa too.

I really hope Emilia is not one of those children you described in your post. She has two parents around almost 24/7, this should not be happening to her.proudmama wrote:

Re: TheStyleDiet/LeFloorTV - Part 21
i think Anna is suffering from post natal depression she has lots of the symptoms- no longer being interested in doing anything, low self-confidence, poor appetite, being sleepy during the day and her wanting another baby shows that she doesn't feel like she has enough in her life. Shes always been a cold person and seems to hide her feelings so you wouldn't really know if she was sad. But the way she can just ignore Es crying and treating her like a play toy for the dogs to attack its really weird.
