My kids love steak too but not that rare....I like a rare steak but for kids I wouldnt think it was the best way to cook it for the kid medium well would have been better.
Re: xxxJoelPolexxx (Lucy Eades) Part 5
I have never really thought about it, as I automatically always cook my kids steak to med - med/well. But thinking about it, I don't think I would want their steaks at the lower temperature that a rare-med/rare steak is cooked at. There's a higher risk of bacteria not having been killed off properly. I guess it doesn't help my situation that I used to be a cook, so think about those things. And that its almost always really hot here, and my son takes sooooo long to eat his dinner. It would be a breeding ground! Give me dirt or fluff any day.soitslikethat12 wrote:My kids love steak too but not that rare....I like a rare steak but for kids I wouldnt think it was the best way to cook it for the kid medium well would have been better.

Not trying to restart the debate or anything, but you wanted to know a few things.Chatabox wrote:If your trying to be environmentally friendly, why do you need a dryer? Wouldn't line drying be more beneficial, and use less power?Knockout wrote: Cloth diapering is really simple, I recommend it if you own a washer and dryer. Plus it's better for baby's bum and their health in the long run
Also, can you explain the health benefits to cloth? I never realised that using a re-usable product had health benefits.
(1) Why do I need a dryer? Isn't line drying more beneficial? YES! Absolutely it is. However, I also live in Canada, and it gets so cold in the winter that I am not able to line dry them outside. That leaves 2 options for inside: hanging them on a rack to dry, or using the dryer. Depending on how busy we are for that day, sometimes we hang our diapers to dry and other times we chuck them in the dryer. Come spring and summer, I will be hanging them outside to dry!
(2) Health benefits to cloth? Of course there are health benefits. Health benefit #1: Disposable diaper manufacturers are in a constant battle to "keep your little ones dry for longer". But your baby is still urinating the same amount as a cloth diapered baby. Why is the disposable staying drier for hours longer then? Not for good reasons. Disposables contain some pretty vicious chemicals - especially ones designed to gel up and absorb urine. So your baby is sitting there in ammonia...for hours...This is one of the biggest causes of diaper rash.
Babies who are cloth diapered rarely ever experience diaper rash. I never have (our daughter is 3 months).
In addition, these are some of the common chemicals found in plastic diapers (another thing - your baby is being clothed in their most delicate areas 24/7 for up to 2-3 years in plastic? Yuck.):
(a) Dioxins: highly toxic and have been linked to reproductive and developmental issues
(b) Tri-butyl Tin (TBT): one of the most toxic chemicals ever created; easily absorbed by human skin and linked to immune and hormone problems
(c) Sodium polyacrylate: This is the absorption element of the diaper - it gels up and absorbs the pee. However, it absorbs so much liquid it dries the skin, causes irritation and diaper rash, and is toxic if the child rips their diaper apart and consumes the granules
(d) Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs): VOCs are released by the diapers, they includetoluene, ethylbenzene, xylene and dipentene. Long term exposure to these compounds have been linked to cancer
(e) Dyes, fragrances, plastics and petrolatum: elements of the diaper such as adding fragrance, soft touch, etc.
In addition, to combat the diaper rash, or other bum issues you are having because you use disposables, you use more chemicals on their sensitive areas (ie: Desitin, diaper rash creams, etc). None of these are good for baby's private areas either!
So, do I feel there are health benefits to using cloth diapers? Yes. Definitely.

About the cloth diapering/line drying vs dryers...i don't know about every where else, but we rent a apartment here in Texas, and i have also rented in california. Some rental homes or apts absolutely don't want people trying to line dry on their porches or yards. Landlords/managers that we have come across think it is unsightly.
Re: xxxJoelPolexxx (Lucy Eades) Part 5
Some babies are more prone to diaper rash no matter what.We haven't gotten any rashes. My 5 month old uses the toilet already
LOL
Are we in need of a new thread about this???

So I see she is trying to get extra views by posting old videos again...Dont forget this is your work at home Lucy, you're falling down on the job. Blah
Re: xxxJoelPolexxx (Lucy Eades) Part 5
Lucy now has an Instigram: http://instagram.com/theeadesfamily
It's linked under her most recent vlogs and on her YT channel page. She's already posted photos of her new nails (at least they are shorter) and matchy-matchy mustache shirts of Jace and Kacen. She also has a belly shot; pretty veiny and definitely looking pregnant.

I don't see how Kasie and Lucy are complete opposites as she claims. As others have said, Lucy formula fed, hospital birthed, and disposable diapered Jace, and still uses disposable diapers on all her kids. She hasn't had a c-section like Kasie, but that rarely has anything to do with parenting philosophies and isn't really in the same political ballpark as circumcision since c-sections are not always planned or elective (and who's to say Kasie's were, so what does it matter in this case?). Lucy's just lucky she hasn't had complicated deliveries. She may not always be so lucky.
Lucy tries to make it seem like she must be non-judgmental with everyone because she has ONE close friend who isn't exactly like her. Just because she accepts her friend Kasie in spit of, or maybe because of, those differences, it doesn't mean Lucy isn't discriminatory. She has insinuated numerous times that formula feeding is inferior and speaks so negatively of hospital nurses and her OB yet so highly of her midwife.
I have friends who don't share my religious, political, socio-economical and parenting philosophies, but I don't emphasize those differences when talking about a particular friend. Her repeatedly doing so seems forced and unnatural, and a bit... discriminatory (for lack of a better word). KWIM?

Oh man, I missed the CD discussion. How can Lucy's minions believe she still cloth diapers when she has admitted, and shown, Peyson wearing disposables for months. She may cloth diaper the next baby for a bit, but I'd be surprised if Peyson ever wears cloth again.
I'm a little surprised they don't use cloth trainers on their kids. Kacen and Jacelyn still wear disposable trainers or diapers at night. She has said they use disposables on Peyson so she can pull off her diaper for potty training (so why not get cloth trainers?), which I highly doubt since she has also said Peyson asks for a new diaper after peeing in her disposable. She also said Pace hates diaper changes now. I don't believe Pace is really potty training. Lazy Lucy.
