People are really fucking stupid these days. The 5 year old who was pregnant in the 40's, everyone was wondering who the sick bastard was that had sex with her, not this whole " she should be playing with barbies, not dick" argument. Like an 11 year old really has a fucking clue what is going on and it's child rape.
In the name of the moon, I shall gossip about you.

In all fairness, these days kids are doing it younger and younger. Unless we know for a fact that it was non-consensual, the possibility remains that she chose to have sex with him.

I don't blame her though. She probably had no clue about pregnancy or STD's or anything. Poor thing.

If it were America, the guy would be in jail regardless of it be consensual or not. What laws does Italy have reguarding that? I agree, she could've consented but she probably didn't realize it'd lead to all of that. The guy should've though and should've used protection.

An 11 year old is not smart enough to make choices like that. That is why we have laws to protect them. Even if she didn't say no. That is rape. Maybe not forceful but just like a molestation. And children that young having sex usually have family problems or have been sexually abused.

I think there is such a thing as: too young to give consent. It's easy to manipulate or coerce an 11 yr old to do something. She is a child.
I'm not saying that she must be completely oblivious about sex or anything sexual, but at 11 you don't realize that you can say "no", let's face it.
Once I read a quote, i don't know who said it, but pretty much was: "you can teach an innocent virginal girl the most extreme sexual practice, those same things will be refused by the most experienced porn star". I don't know if this makes any sense..

The girl is way too young to be in any legal grey area... the age of consent for italian law is 14 .
(HOW ODD! Any birth control provider is scandalized if you're not OF age and are sexually active. But freakkin' 14?? Yikes. So, this is how they reason here, they don't want to acknowledge that teens are having sex, they just want to deny them protection. Yippie.)

There is a close-in-age exception for 13 yr olds when the other partner is NO MORE than 3 yrs older.
"the accused may not invoke ignorance of the victim's age, except it was unavoidable ignorance" and "under the age of 10, the crime can be punished even without a complaint and the punishment is aggravated".
If I understood right the Penal Code, it should be 6-12 yrs of jail.

In the states, the age of consent varies. Like where I am, it's 18.
Some places as young as 16.

This terrifies me. Especially because my sister in law is 11.
She's a baby and I cannot even imagine her having a child of her own.
I do think it's wrong to say that "usually children from broken homes or victims of sexual abuse have sex very young."

Guess what. I'm both of those things and I lost my virginity at age 18 to the man I was engaged to.

Stereotypes are horribly wrong and I'm sad that some of you women actually generalize the younger generation.
Most girls make the choice to have sex.
Not all of them, but most.
The ones that don't get that choice are the ones who are reprimanded. This is the culture we live in, rape culture.

That little girl is not at fault here.

In Italy slut-shaming and victim blaming are the roots of the general way of thinking. When I mean "general" I mean what you face in the law, institutions, human rights, gay rights, a woman's right to choose, contraceptives, PATRIARCHY. Domestic violence, violence against women, feminicide, gender discrimination are a big thing here.
Especially in the South (this happened in the south). Rape as a crime is (like pretty much everywhere else in the world) not too often reported, rarely rapists get an exemplary punishment... it just PISSES me off to no end. Obviously I don't mean *everyone*, and I don't mean that there are no loud people to fight for equality and discuss it on forums, etc. I'm making it sound like a very scary place. :D

To be honest I can't believe that the age of consent is SO LOW here. I don't understand how can it be. This is MAJOR hypocrisy.

They are admitting that they are AWARE than 14yr olds can be sexually active. !!! They LEGALLY ADMIT IT. :?

BUT you can only get condoms at that age, forget about getting the morning after pill if you need it. They will never give it to you when you're that young
( they deny you that at ANY AGE actually, I read loads of first-hand testimonies of that, from women between 25 yrs and 35 yrs of age!!! )

Highly unlikely that at that age the girl would get on the birth control pill, maybe some doctors would even refuse it.
At any age you need a prescription from the hospital ( to get the PLAN B) when an average of 90% are conscientious objectors for abortion, RU, morning after pill. It's ridiculous.

They place such a huge stigma and shame on sex..but the age of consent is the third lowest in the frikkin' WORLD?!

This is a reply to whatsername. By family problems, I mean children that are not monitered correctly by good parents. What kind of parent does not know what there 11 yr old is doing at all times? By sexual abuse, I mean just that. Some, some children of sexual abuse can be more sexual at a younger age. Not all. We don't know the facts on this case. But it doesn't matter. It is wrong. That boy was was to blame.

Oh and I don't want to shake the hive... but more creepy details are: the mother if the girl had her/or got pregnant at 13. So she will be a grandmother at 24-25 apparently.
Before anyone drops the jaw anywhere...NO this is not normal. This is not common here, this is very shocking.

In my state, the age of consent is 16. But we also have a law stating that if a female at any age is drunk it is illegal to sleep with her even if she asks you too because she is not in the right state to make choices. So even if you didn't rape her and she begged you, you could legally go to jail if she chose to press charges. I wish it was more common knowledge (I only recently found out in a college assembly) because guys need to know what they're getting into and what they're at risk for. But the other thing is, that wasn't the case. You're right sleep, she wouldn't have been able to go on the pill, not unless she had heavy periods and it was seriously affecting her life. BUT the guy should've used a condom. Unless she didn't tell them she was on her period, so he thought a girl that age wouldn't have to worry...argh.

Babies should not be having sex, period. But the older partner need to take responsibility. I hope this guy gets some sort of punishment or people start blaming him for this too.

This always makes me laugh and see if goose said something. I'm sorry Taylor, not trying to be mean. That is honestly always my first thought. You can spell it "geez" or "jeez". Spelling it "geez" gets the point across. Spelling it "jeez" is referring to saying "Jesus!". Your choice.
