Most kids go the opposite and grow to resent it because they're being forced to sit on it and being asked 184859272 times a day if they need to go potty irritates them. Forcing toilet training before they're ready makes kids refuse the potty and makes it harder to train them when they are ready (generally speaking there's probably some that don't do this)ja14 wrote:I don't have children, but it seems if she pushes him on the potty now, when he isn't ready, so it's "fun" won't he just get used to it essentially being a toy? Will he really want to poop on his toy...

I really like Cassie, she's so good with Ollie and karma and even seems to be sassy towards brian sometimes which is hilarious. And I totally agree on the potty training, I'm still young and don't even have kids yet but anyone with common sense can fucking see that you should teach your kid how to talk before potty training them, and only at a year and a half old too!

Re: BumsAlongtheWaytoScamming Part 15
Agreed 100%! But seriously, how sad is it that what they need is a teenager? Cassie will be a better mom then Missy ever will be.Kryptonite wrote:I love Cassie too, she has something about her that is both nurturing and also a little sassy. She is exactly what they need over there.
Honestly, I obviously do not spend time with Oliver so I can't completely determine whether or not he's ready BUT, in my opinion, I don't think he is. They need to work on a lot with him, including verbalizing what he needs. Potty training is going to be a struggle while Oliver cannot speak properly/clearly.

Been lurking for a while, decided to join the fun I can't stand these two but ollie is a cutie. Missy reminds me of a child and Bryan is just so irritating... Think I'm in the right place lol

Re: BumsAlongtheWaytoScamming Part 15
I feel bad for Oliver honestly. He rarely speaks,I think I've heard him say mama once. It's not for lack of trying, he was pointing at things and these two morons didn't engaged him..they laughed it off, called him cute and ruffled his hair. He tends to scream a lot when he wants something, and rather then try to teach him to use his words and not his voice, they just do whatever it is he wants.
They really need to consider starting to teach him to use his words and not just scream and throw a fit for whatever it is he wants, and give in. Not saying Oliver is a brat, as my 9 month old throws fits very similar to his, but I'm also doing my best in teaching him to use his words, and patience.
I really think it's silly of them to be so focused on having another baby, when they kind of half ass the one they have now. They must want a new car or something.
I find it kind of funny Missy insists Oliver had told her all day he needed to use the toilet. How come we never ever see on the vlogs, him doing any of the sign language she seems to be teaching him? I've seen him do the eat sign once, only after they had just did it multiple times.

He has said "mama" once, in the one vlog where he got stuck in the tiny dog kennel and all Bryan did was film it and laugh.

Re: BumsAlongtheWaytoScamming Part 15
that's right, i do remember hearing him say mama once. poor kid. you can tell he wants to communicate verbally, he just doesn't know how. very sad. if they have a new baby, let's say oliver will get 50% less attention from his parents than what he gets now... heartbreaking.
it seems they're using babies as fuck trophies now. you'd think they'd be a bit more hands on knowing how hard it was for them to have a healthy baby like oliver. my husband and i have been trying since early 2012 and no babies yet... so to see them ignore oliver for the most part is disgusting.

They want another child, but can't handle the one they have now. It's crazy because they wanted Oliver so badly and now that they have him, they half ass ! What the hell. Poor Oliver, you really see him trying to speak , but he doesn't know the words. Possible speech therapy in the future?

Re: BumsAlongtheWaytoScamming Part 15
'i watched it, so you don't have to!' featuring the dailybumps vlog "WHO YA GONNA CALL!?!?" day 712:
bryan is in the car off to a lunch meeting with christy. just before i was about to say "who?" apparently aunt christy is the person he's going to cambodia with.
now they're at the lunch date. christy is asked to explain what they're going to do in cambodia. "eating at really good restaurants" she says. bryan says "going to nightclubs". she says they're going to go to katherine's home, because she runs a ___? for 26 kids. they're going to do touristy things like visit the place where the 70s genocide happened. and right away bryan says "and we'll be going to temples, right?" he's all about the temples and da man, jesus, now he's bfflz with jared and shay. and lots more stuff.
bryan says they need to be respectful when filming in places and they'll seek permission beforehand. in the words of miranda sings "yeah, right!"
now bryan is back at home with a weird toy whistle thing. all the photoshopping possibilities. so i guess this means it's time for today's edition of 'FU, INTERNETS! I'M AN INVOLVED DAD!"...
ollie is carting around some toy animals, babbling again. bryan sits his fat ass down on the carpet and goes through all of the animals and says their names and their noises. it's a start.
bryan and ollie take turns of putting the animals back in their container, until ollie tips them out.
awkward skype call time where missy is actually around for something. they're talking about accents and the british girl says the little kids have cool accents. bryan says ollie has an accent and pans the laptop towards him. this is hilarious because i thought someone actually had to talk to have an accent?
it is actually 6:43 into the video before we actually hear missy's voice and we haven't seen her in at all apart from the little skype thumbnail.
missy is finally vlogging at 9:20 into the vlog and ollie is pretending to talk on missy's phone. missy says he's never done this before.... he's never pretended to talk on the phone before? seriously?
missy explains why she only just started vlogging. she woke up and got ready and then they started doing skype calls.... (that was after lunch)
missy says they're tired. she doesn't know why but they're tired today. i guess socialising with people other than her mom, dad and cassie is exhausting.
ollie's playroom is a mess, "but he loves it".
it's ollie's dinner time. he's having breakfast for dinner. pancakes, scrambled eggs with cheese and blueberries. was it really important to add cheese? :/
missy says they're cooking up a frozen lasanga for them because they've ran out of everything. i wonder if missy put it in the oven. probably not, it's not a cake or cookies.
she calls ollie over for his dinner, who is carrying his straw broom.
grumpy cat calendar time. he talks to poop emoji. takes a polaroid of the vlog camera. talks about his new video. viewers end the vlog.

Re: BumsAlongtheWaytoScamming Part 15
I just don't get how Ollie is not saying anything more than "mama" and "dada" at this age. I know that all kids are different, but when they're still this nonverbal at this age, isn't it time to, not worry, but at least have it checked out?
I mean, this is my daughter at 11-12 months:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U30EwwQlQUM
And this is my son. He's 19 months in the first clip, and 22 months in the second clip (video quality sucks because it was taken with a VERY old cellphone):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FQVGaVJRGKs
My youngest will be one in three weeks, and she already says mama, dada, "wassat" (what's that), "ny-ny" (night night), hi, bye bye, and ah-dun (all done), as well as consistently signing eat, more, milk, poop and no.
Every kid I've ever known has had AT LEAST 2 words by their first birthday, and is using 2-3 work sentences by 18 months.
I don't want to imply that there's something wrong with Ollie at all, but I can honestly say that if it were my kid, I would have them assessed. I love my kids, and I would want to know sooner rather than later if there was something wrong, to start fixing it as soon as possible.

Re: BumsAlongtheWaytoScamming Part 15
Catching up on their vlogs and I have to say how annoying it is when Missy says how Ollie sounds like a monkey. I cringe whenever she compares Ollie to a monkey, if she really wanted a monkey, she should of gotten one instead of trying for a baby.
Re: BumsAlongtheWaytoScamming Part 15
If they are bringing him to his regular check ups and I'm sure the doctor would look into it by now if they think it's any sort of hearing issue. I know mine always asks how many words she says and can tell just by watching my daughter jabbering that she is hitting her vocal milestones so seeing a toddler that isn't talking would definitely stand out to them. If he really was talking as much as they say he is it would have gotten captured on video by now.Kryptonite wrote:Theirmom wrote:I just don't get how Ollie is not saying anything more than "mama" and "dada" at this age. First of all, your children are absolutely adorable! Your little boy seems like a sweetheart.
As for Oliver, I always go back and forth on pointing these things out because of the whole "children develop at their own rate" thing... But it's now becoming more obvious that Ollie is a little behind from what we can see on camera. Missy and Bryan insist that he is learning a "ton" of new words, including "towel" in today's vlog but we rarely see that captured on camera. I think Oliver's main problem are his parents. I believe that he wants to talk and if he had two parents who were willing to work with him, he'd be talking away now. Yes, they are working on potty-training but I believe they're doing that because it's inconvenient for them to change a diaper. SMH.
You would think that if they were concerned, they would at the very least have his ears checked?
As far as potty training goes, I wish I could get my daughter (almost 20 months) to start potty training but if they can't even recognize when they've gone in their diaper they won't be able to know when to go to the toilet. Sometimes she'll go "mama, eeeewwww" when she poops but it's very rare. My husband and I have talked about starting potty training but don't think our daughter is ready for it (plus #2 is due in two weeks so I don't think its the right time to start anyway). It seems B&M are forcing it on him so they can be all, "HEY GUIZ LOOK HOW ADVANCED OLLIE IS!"

And I can't even believe that they're going to attempt potty training right now. My kids didn't have much success with potty training until 2.5-3 years old. From what I've read, that's very typical. They're just going to end up getting frustrated, and so will Ollie, if they push it too soon. Hopefully they really did just get it to get him accustomed early.
I just can't believe they haven't gotten him assessed for speech delays. I would never risk my kids falling behind to preserve my own vanity.

In today's vlog when ollie was on the phone it sounded like he said "turn it down" and pointed to the tv, then walked over the the towel and said "towel" missy completely ignored it of course. Maybe he didn't I was watching it while half asleep...

That's exactly right! Engaging him there would improve his talking, but instead she goes "yeahhh" and laughs... He shows the ability and will to talk (my son didn't until 2.5 year old he was in speech too, though) so if they engaged him he would go leaps and bounds!Kryptonite wrote:No, I noticed towel as well... They only ever seem to respond when he's only babbling and they have the chance to ask the camera to "translate in the comments". Ugh.

My 21 month old says "eww. poo. stinky" when she has pooped but she's not even close to being ready to toilet train, but she's aware when she has pooped which is more than her brother was doing at that age. He toilet trained at 2.5yo and I'll probably toilet train my youngest at around the same age if she's ready.Theirmom wrote:Thank you!
