Re: 2011TeenageSelfEsteem360 Part 21
I don't thinks she should be slammed for not doing the typical "high school college career marriage family" path.
A lot of people don't go to college, and if she doesn't feel suited for it then good for her. She shouldn't waste money on school to never finish and half ass it and not even be into what she's doing. Why not go into the world and try new things first? That's why people have gap years, to expand horizons. I don't have a damn clue if I want to go to college or not. I'd rather work for a year or for life than go to college, spend thousands of dollars and have a degree I'm not happy with and will never use.
As long as her family and her are taken care of and happy I don't think it matters if she's miss college or if she's getting a job.

Of course all those things are draining so why purposely add to it when you know you're driving a long journey? It isn't sensible, that's just fact.Yue195 wrote:If your sister is tipsy after 1 beer either that beer is heavy or your sister doesn't drink very often and is a lightweight. The beer she had was 4.2% alcohol, which is pretty low. I estimate she's 120 pounds, had food ( full stomachs make you tired) and chugged water, by the time she got back into the car and drove, the alcohol would of been flushed out or finished. I don't know what the American rules are, but for me I can't drive with Alcohol in my system for another 3 years, After three years and theoretically say I do drink and plan to drive home, my BAC would have to be below 0.5 as that's the limit, aka one or two drinks. No, I'm not saying it's totally cool to drink and drive. But being in the sun, a big lunch, hanging out with other people or walking around is energy draining as well.HelloHolaHallo wrote:I've said this about all YT moms and all other YT'ers in general I absolutely hate vlogging and driving! even worse is drinking and driving. I get that it was a few hours later but if you know you're driving why drink? 1 beer for my sister is all it takes for her to get tipsy. Some people can drink more than others I just think it's pointless to drink and drive. I lost 1 friend to drinking and driving so maybe my opinion is bias I just don't see the point. They even have alcohol free beers out there.
If it's a crime to be in the phone and driving it should also be a crime to vlog while driving. Its so unnecessary. Sorry random thoughts building up.

I don't know about the drinking and driving. That really rubbed me the wrong way. How do we know she only had one? Also, it made me feel very uneasy when she said she was so sleepy and her eyes just wanted to rest. Driving tired/sleepy is just as bad as drunk driving. That, IMO, is very irresponsible especially with your child in the car. I've heard of numerous people having accidents because of that. My cousin's friend died because he fell asleep on the wheel.

I don't know how much my sister weighs but I'd say she has V's body frame and yeah it is that bad, 1 Smirnoff and she's giggly. I just honestly don't see the point in drinking when you know you are driving but that's just me. Again I may be bias I lost a dear friend in an accident and she was a passenger. When I'm out and know I'm driving I'll just take alcohol free beer, not even a radler even though my tolerance is pretty high.Yue195 wrote:If your sister is tipsy after 1 beer either that beer is heavy or your sister doesn't drink very often and is a lightweight. 1 Smirnoff?! No wonder your sister is giggly, that's almost 7% alcohol content, way higher then a beer.HelloHolaHallo wrote:I don't know how much my sister weighs but I'd say she has V's body frame and yeah it is that bad, 1 Smirnoff and she's giggly. Maybe it's just my culture here, but my version of drink driving isn't one or two beers then getting behind the wheel, almost everyone I know does it, even my dads best friend who's a cop. Drink driving is someone who's obviously not clear to drive after having 7 drinks.
In the name of the moon, I shall gossip about you.

Sorry to jump in, but your BAC doesn't just depend on how strong the drink is, or how many drinks you've had.

I didn't slam her for school. I've been changing my tune about college lately. I spent the last two months backpacking Central America and I really applaud the kids that I met who went traveling after high school. If you are motivated enough, you can learn a lot about yourself and the world through means other than university. It's actually kind of brave (coming from an American perspective. I know that traveling at a young age is super common in other countries). I think that Vanessa should maybe hold off on school. She doesn't like it and I'm not sure that she knows what it is that she wants to do. As long as she's moving forward and growing as a person, which it seems like she's trying to do, she can always go back to school at a later point. However, I don't agree with people who don't go to college and then just get some shitty dead end job and basically live a stagnant life. I think it's really important to cultivate yourself as a person in your twenties. It's kind of make or break. Vanessa has her YouTube thing which is kind of a unique experience, and now she finally has a job which at the very least is something new. And on top of it, she has a daughter to raise. I just think that for a while, it looked like she had no aspirations in life other than being a stay at home mom who would venture out of the house twice a week to shop at target. Hopefully now, whether she goes to school or not, she will attempt to learn and grow and figure out what it is that makes her happy or what she wants to do. On the flip side, at the end of the day, she and David have a daughter to raise. That is a real life responsibility that they chose to take on. So sometimes in life, you just have to bite the bullet and do whatever it takes to make sure that you take care of your responsibilities. Vanessa and David may not be afforded the luxury to spend time figuring out their true passion in life. They need to make sure that they are financially and emotionally able to take care of Lily. I really really really value education but if college isn't for her, which is fine, she should at least be taking steps forward to ensure a good life for Lily. I think she's trying so there's that.

That live video was too funny. I was torn between cringing at some of the stuff which I found to be a little TMI and feeling happy that she was at least attempting to be honest. I think she's just not very good at expressing herself through spoken language and it's like you know what she's TRYING to say but it comes out sounding way worse. Like when she said, "we put on a good front in front of the camera." There were a few things that made it sound like they have this relationship where they are constantly fighting and at each others throats when the camera is turned off. Maybe that's true, but I think she just didn't word it well and it came off sounding worse than it is. Or that it's crossed her mind that Lily might be gay because she makes her barbies kiss. Haha. I doubt kissing barbies are a sign of 3 yr old Lily's burgeoning sexuality but at least V was revealing certain thoughts that most parents wouldn't admit to having. At least she's being upfront and honest but that's too funny. I found her to be sort of likeable in this video because she was so unfiltered.

"But yeah no. Yeah no." Omg stop.
And she mentioned the trail. They can't go to the same trail because she moved like 40 minutes from Charlotte? but she made it seem like it's the same one.
"We're trying to get back out on the trail."
Confused.

Sorry, I can't sit and watch like 45 plus minutes of Vanessa talking about herself.
