DailyUnnecessaryPurchases- Part 35
Re: DailyUnnecessaryPurchases- Part 35
Oh my good gracious. They have endangered Ollie's life on several occasions in the pool.
-Encouraging Ollie to ride on Karma around the pool. Dogs are not horses and it is not easy for karma to have extra weight on him while he's swimming (which could make him anxious, nervous, angry). I get it was funny, but the speed at which karma was swimming could easily pull Ollie under. Were there lots of people there to catch? Absolutely. But it's not super helpful to catch and pull him up if he gets the wind knocked out of him by karma and inhales water.
-Encouraging Ollie to jump off of the hot tub into the pool. It's one thing to practice swimming with a toddler - that's wonderful. It's great to teach them how to kick, how to float on their backs, how to stay afloat, etc. Not doing diving tricks with a two year old.
-Encouraging Ollie to jump into the hot tub. This is even more dangerous. The raised seats in the hot tub could have broken Ollies leg or arm, he could have bonked his head, etc. It is NOT safe to encourage jumping into the hot tub. This becomes more dangerous the bigger he gets, so it's scary to be encouraging it now.
-Leaving Ollie unattended in the pool with no adults nearby. I don't care if it was a test, a child can drown in an inch of water. No, that doesn't mean you don't let your child near water, but you should be close by and watching, within arms reach.
Seeing people defend it has been unbelievable. They are endangering his life.

I'm already making popcorn and hoping to hear my name dropped in the video.cats-or-die wrote:We're gonna get a huge lecture tomorrow. Bry Bry will be huffy and claim we upset Missy. He'll get defensive and act as if it was a totally safe and normal activity. He'll go on to remind us that we aren't Oliver's parents and we didn't see the entire test. He'll end it with people get offended way too easily and that we should step away from the computer for a bit.
side eyeing so hard at them.

I guess if floaties are a false sense of security, we should just stop using seat belts too, guize.

Re: DailyUnnecessaryPurchases- Part 35
The Lannings are awful, holy crap. Bryan's reply was total b.s. They wanted to see if Oliver would actually go in the pool alone? What's next, standing at the end of the block and let Ollie roam free, seeing if he'd cross the street alone? Sitting him in front of knives and seeing if he would play with one? I mean, it's just a test, you guize. Obvvvi he knows not to do it cause he's just so stinkin' smart!
You know what's surprising? That Bryan didn't title the vlog "TODDLER'S SOLO POOL ADVENTURE" or "TODDLER SNEAKS INTO POOL". Either Missy was pushy on using a scary and misleading clickbait, or Bryan knew the pool idea was shitty and didn't want to draw in negative attention.

And the point is, he DID go in. And instead of saying "wow, I was wrong. He did go in!No Ollie! Get out now!" They laughed and filmed it, so he thinks it's OK. And guizze, he's been taking swim lessons since he was a baby! Go back and look at the vlogs! He's a great swimmer! Michael Phelps had better watch out! They don't fucking get it, and instead of maybe taking what we said under consideration, they sicced the minions on us and encouraged that one to climb even further up their asses.

Oh, and glowing rooms, accusing _you_ of going for shock value, when the title of this vlog is "Counting Contractions", and how many of their videos start with "Toddler Trapped"? Pot, meet kettle.

Didn't one of them leave Ollie in the tub when he was under 1? Can't remember the vlog, but there was a lot of controversy

This! They consistently reinforce negative behaviour with, "haha, oh Ollie! So goofy! Look at you! What are you doing? This kid, you guizeee!" Ollie is going to become such a huge brat (more than he is already) if they don't nip this in the bud.lmmomSD wrote:And the point is, he DID go in. And instead of saying "wow, I was wrong. Perfectly said! That's exactly what they're not seeing.lmmomSD wrote:And the point is, he DID go in. And instead of saying "wow, I was wrong. He did go in!No Ollie! Get out now!" They laughed and filmed it, so he thinks it's OK.

Re: DailyUnnecessaryPurchases- Part 35
I get nervous enough when they turn their back for a second in the pool when Ollie is in there but are you telling me they LEFT HIM ALONE BY THE POOL? I refuse to watch that
Re: DailyUnnecessaryPurchases- Part 35
Wow. I commented something that was deleted within five minutes. Less than that possibly.
When I was about three or four years old, my mom took me to a community pool, we stayed there for quite a bit until I was becoming a brat. She decided it was time to go home. I was pissed right off, and decided to run around the pool and I thought it was a good idea to jump IN the pool. I started drowning immediately even though I knew how to swim. (swim lessons since I was 9 months old). I swallowed water and my mom had to jump in after me and get me out and the life guard at the pool literally had to perform CPR to get the water out. We ended up at the hospital just to make sure I was okay, and I was.
Kids can drown, even if they know how to swim. Luckily my mom was right behind me because she was running after me, but in Missy and Bryan's case, if they had to fiddle around with the fence, Oliver could have died. Anything could have happened. You need to be 100% cautious. You can't just take chances.
I expressed my near death experience, and they deleted it. Fast.

Wow. I should post about my brain dead patient. What really blows me away is all the comments saying "he's not your kid, so shut up". Well, gee. Hope nothing bad ever happens to anyone around them. " it's not my kid. Why should I call 911? It's not _my_ friend being stabbed in the street. So I shouldn't care"

I just read the replies of that funeral comment, and ugh Bryan you shouldn't defend your idiotic actions. He said 'dry drowning can happen to anyone'. Yes it can happen to anyone, but you have to protect your son because he is more vulnerable. They are IDIOTS!

Re: DailyUnnecessaryPurchases- Part 35
Man, there have been a few times Missy has been bathing Ollie and she's turned away to vlog or talk to Bryan and it's made me SO anxious for him. Babies can drown so fast when when their moms are way more attentative than she's been. This is something else. A toddler should be encouraged to explore, to adventure and play but a pool, alone? No way. I'm disgusted enough to come out of lurkdom and agree with you all.

They should consider themselves lucky that strangers on the internet are concerned because clearly they're not. What they're being told could save their damn child's life.lmmomSD wrote:Wow. I feel like other youtubers do this too. Ellie leaves Calvin alone on a bed and it makes me angry. How do they not know any better???beyoncepadthai wrote:Man, there have been a few times Missy has been bathing Ollie and she's turned away to vlog or talk to Bryan and it's made me SO anxious for him.
