On the private vs public note. I was under the impression that public preschools are for lower income kiddos...like headstart? When I was getting my degree I was a preschool teacher and it was public but only low income students qualified. I wonder if that's how it is in her state also which is why she's in private Christian school

Sorry, but your understanding of private vs public is wrong. I went to both private and public schools growing up. Our income never changed. While in private, my parents did pay $500 a month where as public school is free. As far as financials go, that's the only difference. My daughter went to head start and we payed. There are both lower income, middle class, as well as upper class in public schools. It's based on parents preference.

I'm WELL aware of the public school system lol I'm a teacher. I'm not completely familiar with preschools which are completely different. Head start is for lower income families I'm absolutely sure of that. And headstart is considered public. I was wondering if there are public preschools that are open to everyone not just lower income students because we don't have those in my area.

I'm sure our pediatrician would love to hear she's "lower income" lol it could very well be different from state to state though

Man, I must have been way behind. I've seen home videos of me picking my nose and scooting around on stage during my preschool performances.
She did fine. It can be really intimidating being on stage for the first time.

Haha, I never had confidence issues on stage. I think it was my classes Thanksgiving performance I was doing the "Loser" sign on stage at my Grandpa. It was all caught on family video.

Ah, those early performances are the best and I hope more of the YT families I follow share theirs.

I walked off stage in the middle of a Christmas production. Went straight to mum and asked if we could go home now. Aria was fine, she looked abit uncomfortable/overwhelmed by the amount of people , but she did alright for a first.

In every area that I have ever lived in the US, most preschools are religious. They are typically half-day programs. So it doesn't surprise me that B selected one for Aria. There are a few secular schools; some are offered by the local public school system and some are private (like Montessori or Reggio Emilia) Now our public school system only offers spots for preschoolers for very low income families as well as children who are lagging developmentally. But I understand that every school system is different in terms of what it offers preschoolers and who qualifies.

I thought Aria did fine. Remember Aria entered this preschool very, very late relative to the other children because of the move. The other children very likely started learning the songs and hand motions weeks earlier. I know my children took the entire fall to learn "Away in a manger"!

I'm not a huge Britney fan but she has always worked hard with Aria. Aria is NOT behind her classmates! She is only 3!! She looked very shy - she JUST started at that school. Give the little girl a break!

Priority goes to low income, and then once those slots are filled, slots are open to the rest of the population (I just took a public policy class). So while you don't HAVE to be low-income, many areas do primarily fill their slots with low-income. I live in NM and we have a pretty high poverty rate so if you are not in poverty, it is very challenging to get into Head Start. It definitely depends on the area, though.

Central Texas here. Pre-k is just as big as kinder in public school. There is a tuition fee, unless you qualify as low income or military then there is no tuition. The pre-k and kinder are in the same school, both go all day (7:40 to 3:05). I assume because it is not required by law to attend pre-k that is why there is tuition.

Aria is her first child in her first performance. B was proud of her and she should be! I thought Aria did great. She should have found a babysitter for Nolan due to the croup but other than that I enjoyed the video

I'm not an idiot I know the difference between public and private schools. They didn't understand my question so I admit I got snarky. Their response was just as "know it all" but whatever

Ihateleaf, I'm also from Central Texas, Austin to be exact. What a small world! My kid is currently in pre-k and we also have to pay tuition because we don't qualify for low-income or Spanish speaking.

I can't believe she brought Nolan, as croup is contagious. I'm sorry but that upsets me as she put those kids at risk of catching it right before Christmas.

This is comical. She just posted a room tour of Nolans room. I was expecting it to be a master bedroom tour cause the kid still sleeps in there....

Such a waste of $$ to spend all that $$ to makeup the room for basically show

Small world indeed, I am more towards Elgin in the country. Luckily my husband is active duty national guard so we don't have to pay tuition. But the pre-k is pretty awesome. I'd probably figure out a way to pay even if we were not military!

That whole room is ridiculous. Completely for show. Let's put basically all of Nolans toys in the closet and then put a childproof grip on the door knob so that he can not get to the toys. -.-

Why would she waste so much money on a room that the kid will never use? She should have spent the money on Aria's room because she actually uses her room, but she said Aria's room won't be finished any time soon.

I don't get it either. I guess it's the perfect Pinterest room, not to be touched.
