She also seems to have parenting traits similar to the Queen character profile for Borderline/Narcissistic Personality disorder.

Re: 8 Passengers: Part One
I don't like how she speaks to her kids when she's asking them to do something.
In yesterday's vlog with Russell's eye (poor guy it looked so painful) she said to Chad "I want you to take Russell outside and calm him down" not "can you please take Russell outside and try calm him down while I call the doctor" and in today's vlog when the laundry flooded she said to shari "take this and make sure it's dry" (about the vacuum) not "can you please take this and try make sure it's dry"
I think she's quite rude when she speaks to her kids.
Also, I think it's interesting how different she is compared to her sisters. She is only like 5 years older than Bonnie but dresses like she is 40 years older than them and she is so much more conservative and old school than them, it's hard to believe sometimes that they're sisters. Not just how she dresses, but how she dresses her children, her mannerisms, her parenting style. I know who I would rather hang out with that's for sure.

Re: 8 Passengers: Part One
I forget that Ruby isn't late 40s. She seems way older than she actually is. It seems like the Griffith girls strive to be exactly like their mother.
The way she scared Russell about his eyes made me upset. What kind of message does it send to your child when you, as a mom, panic?

Wow I said "major" a lot in my post. Lol sorry, I'm sleep deprived today. Teething baby all nightactuallydear wrote:Without a doubt.gymchick43 wrote:I get major narcissistic mother vibes from ruby. Also I get those vibes from Ellie. She doesn't let Jackson have his own independent personality, she chooses what he likes and she doesn't let him express any emotions and tells him to "just put a smile on".

Jennifer is NPD, too, IMO. The thing with children of narcissists they mimic a lot of their NP behaviours without being true narcissists themselves (which is obvious when you watch the Griffiths collectively) but I definitely think Ruby and Ellie are indeed narcissists, Ruby more so.gymchick43 wrote:Wow I said "major" a lot in my post. The whole "you don't give s gift the person wants but what you want to give the person" bull shit that Jennifer and Ellie preach is 100% narc behaviour. I have a narc dad- currently no contact. But they are the worst gift givers and it's all about them and manipulation and control. I could give personal examples but I won't vlog the thread.

Good for you going NC! I hope that you have support because it's hard to deal with.
For years I thought my FIL was just an asshole and it was just him and how he dealt with things (everybody in the families defend him and everybody else is the problem, not FIL) and then I started doing a lot of research and had the biggest "ah ha!" moment. My husband was so relieved to know that there are unfortunately others out there just like him. He has gone NC with his father and his paternal family, and also has very limited contact with the rest of the family including his mother and maternal grandmother because every time he does speak with them all he gets is "your father has done nothing wrong. You'll regret it when he's no longer around".
That's why it sticks out like dog balls when I see Missy, Ellie, Ruby and Jennifer that they're all self-serving assholes commonly known as narcissists.
I really feel for their kids. You can only hope to God that they make it out and see that their parents behaviours are only harming them. But the reality is most won't. Especially not the LDS kids.

I agree with you. I don't think Ruby knows what joy is. You ever see the old home movies with Ruby, Jennifer and Chad? Ugh, so depressing.

Re: 8 Passengers: Part One
I honestly think ruby has great intentions, but she's burned out. 6 kids by 32 years old is a lot to handle. Her kids are still better off than a lot of kids I know. But ruby just seems to be an overwhelmed mom in the thick of things. Not necessarily a narcissist.

Re: 8 Passengers: Part One
somewhat unrelated but does anyone watch JessFam? She's 23 (I think) and pregnant with her 5th. She also has 2 step-kids. Does anyone else see similar traits of being burned out?ohmygoshyouguys wrote:I honestly think ruby has great intentions, but she's burned out. 6 kids by 32 years old is a lot to handle. Re: 8 Passengers: Part One
Evie. Oh lord that child. Any thoughts on why this kid is so out of control? I'm thinking she acts wilder than Ruby is used to. So even though she had 5 kids before this kid is throwing her for a loop. Kid is a violent and destructive brat in the videos. I don't blame her as she APPEARS to get no real guidance and Ruby always ends up laughing. Talk about mixed messeges.

Re: 8 Passengers: Part One
OK so I can totally see the control freak thing in today's vlog. First Ruby has to draw the marks for the piercings herself. Then the girls have to pick the friendship necklace SHE approves of, and tells them the one they like isn't cute. Let go of the reigns a bit Ruby!
Re: 8 Passengers: Part One
Yup totally controlling and narcissistic. Another thing she controls is their sleeping arrangement, didn't the girls want two beds yet she made them share one big bed? Like what the hell.ohmygoshyouguys wrote:OK so I can totally see the control freak thing in today's vlog. First Ruby has to draw the marks for the piercings herself. Re: 8 Passengers: Part One
I agree the sleeping arrangements are very strange. Like how long are they going to keep this up? Are they going to be 15 and 17 and still sharing a bed? Kevin's seemingly unused office should be turned into a bedroom for Shari. I'm not against kids sharing a room by any means, but sharing a bed is weird. This isn't Little House on the Prairie.
Re: 8 Passengers: Part One
I'm a new subscriber to 8 Passengers, what are their sleeping arrangements? I think Ruby seems nice but very overwhelmed!

Re: 8 Passengers: Part One
Julie and Abby share a room and a bed, as do Shari and Evie. While sharing a room is common, sharing a bed with a sibling is unusual. Also, Ruby asked Julie and Abby if they wanted to share a bed or would prefer twin beds. They opted for twin beds but Ruby selected a bed for them to share since it took up less space.

Re: 8 Passengers: Part One
I don't know why she went with a single bed for the girls to save space when their rooms are so bare. They easily could of fit two single beds or a bunk bed in that room and the girls could of had their own beds. It makes no sense to me to make two little girls share a bed when they don't want to. And you'll need to buy new beds in a few years anyway because 2 teenage girls won't want to share.

Re: 8 Passengers: Part One
Wtf. So she's not against bunk beds...
I wonder how Bonnie views how Ruby raises her kids in terms of extremely tight budgeting, bedsheets for birthday gifts... I feel like Bonnie is so different in terms of allowing herself to splurge on the kids and herself. It really could be that they can't afford anything but Oreos as a splurge ? But it'd be beneficial for her to treat herself.
