8 Passengers | Part One
Re: 8 Passengers: Part One
Just watched the throwback video of when they brought Ellie home from the hospital. Jennifer kinda snapped at ruby for accidentally calling Ellie "it" and ruby kinda backed off and said sorry that's what she was used to. Afterwards she seemed sullen and tried to get some approval from her mother by pointing out that she cleaned the kitchen. Jennifer was giving most of the attention to Julie

Re: 8 Passengers: Part One
Did anyone watch their live stream on Facebook Sunday? I watched the first part of it and ALLLLL I could focus on was Abbey and Julie fighting for their faces to be seen in the background. Julie seemed WAY forceful, and they seem way fed up with each other. I definitely get siblings get that way, but those poor girls have to share nearly everything!! Maybe they'll still be super close when they get older and laugh back on their sharing days, but it could easily be the opposite. There are so many things I dislike about Ruby's way of doing things, but maybe she'll get some things right. I mean, look at Shari! Although, I do see Shari basically being exactly like Ruby. So much to talk about with the Frankes!
Why does their family love the name Julie so much??... 3 in the family that they've mentioned. Surely it gets confusing!! Then there's 2 Chads, 2 Calvins... So odd!

How weird is that Ruby used (again) these tags (Power of Motherhood Mothers are essential) on today's vlog about Ellie's bday? It's a video of your sister when she was 4, what does it have to do with "mothers are essential"?
^^^ Sorry if there are any mistakes guys, english is not my first language

I looked for that video on Ruby's channel, where can I watch? Btw, Ruby is at 95k subs. Might that have somethingto do with the "power of motherhood"?

It's on beau's channel, he posted a video of when Ellie was newborn.Whatshesaid_2015 wrote:gymchick43 wrote:Just watched the throwback video of when they brought Ellie home from the hospital. Jennifer was really short with ruby wasn't she? And what was with the weird nod thing ruby was doing continuously? Like a weird twitch or an involuntary movement. So strange. I think ruby should talk about it in a vlog, I'm interested in why she did it and how she stopped doing it.

Re: 8 Passengers: Part One
Whoa, Ruby's twitching looked like tourettes to me. Especially because it manifested immediately after her mom snapped at her. Tourettes tics usually show under stress. It does make me wonder if Ruby possibly still has it and doesn't vlog it. My SIL is 35 and just got diagnosed. She has several small tics that everyone just thought were funny quirky things she did. That is so interesting to me.

I was thinking the same thing, but ya know, don't want to diagnose. It definitely looked like a coping mechanism type of thing because, as you said, she started doing it after Jennifer snapped at her. It's very intriguing.ohmygoshyouguys wrote:Whoa, Ruby's twitching looked like tourettes to me. Especially because it manifested immediately after her mom snapped at her. Oops. I wasn't trying to diagnose, promise. That was just really interesting and definitely NOT typical behavior for a what, 10 year old? Can't help but wonder.
Re: 8 Passengers: Part One
I didn't even notice the first time I watched but just rewatched it. I wonder what was up with that. Jennifer asked if she was okay and told her to stop doing it. Ruby said it kind of made a noise like Bonnie's knee when she did it. So maybe it was an out of the ordinary thing she was doing to get some attention from Jennifer? It must have been hard being the oldest of five especially when a new baby came along.ohmygoshyouguys wrote:Oops. I wasn't trying to diagnose, promise. And unrelated to Ruby but I'm guessing whatever noise Bonnie's knee made had something to do with her leg surgery.
Ruby has said she was an ugly duckling as a child but from what I've seen, she's always been pretty... in my opinion anyway. And this is coming from someone with a strong dislike of Ruby, haha.

Re: 8 Passengers: Part One
I don't watch Ruby very often, only when I'm really bored, but I did check out the video Beau posted and felt bad for her. Everyone was calling Ellie "it" and she only jumped on Ruby. When you hear your dad say it, of course you think you can say it too.

I felt bad for her too. She was only like 10 years old too, that's still very young.RootBeerFloatie wrote:I don't watch Ruby very often, only when I'm really bored, but I did check out the video Beau posted and felt bad for her. It would be interesting to hear more about their childhoods, ruby in particular as the oldest. I have a feeling Jennifer was snippy with her often, the way she shut down and then tried to get her mothers approval. It was sad to watch.

Ugh. I rarely comment anywhere anymore but their newest video. I am not a feminist by any means, but I was so glad when I heard them saying to Shari "you would be a great teacher, or lawyer, or engineer" etc etc. but THEN Ruby goes on and says, but MOST importantly, a good mother. Ughhhh. I realize being a mother is important in their culture/religion, and even would have been fine to include that in the list. But "most importantly"???? I feel so bad for any Mormon women who struggle with infertility. Heaven forbid you can't/don't have children. They place their entire worth on that title of "mommy".

Random but I have to say that I HATE that red flower smock dress that Eve wears every other day. It doesn't fit properly at all and the shape and fabric is just so funky looking. So many cute options for her age and she gets that....

Re: 8 Passengers: Part One
I agree with you. And, of course you're expected to be married with children. So, what are you without a man, incomplete? I came of age in the 70's and had the very first issue of Ms. magazine. I wonder if the young women today realize that prior to the Women's Movement of the 70's, an unmarried woman was not allowed to have credit in her name. Many women were excluded from having a career outside of nursing and teaching. Their husbands were allowed to beat them without the interference of law enforcement. Women in general were raised to be wives and mothers. I recall being asked during a job interview what I'd do when I had a baby. Needless to say, the job went to a man though we were both equally qualified. I've no idea what the connotation is of the word "feminist". But without some women being aware and pushing for equal rights, we'd all be in a very different place now.Zoiks wrote:Ugh. I rarely comment anywhere anymore but their newest video. Re: 8 Passengers: Part One
I've watched more of Rubys vids recently... There's something I like about how she edits her vlogs. And I like her mundane life updates. Like about her water heater, sewage, etc flooding. I also like how she edits a silent cleaning clip like with the polishing the silver. I also like when she throws in a clip of her cooking a meal. I really like seeing domestic things. I still find her tacky in certain ways and constantly seeming like she's on the brink of a major meltdown... Her youngest son... chad? Russell? Kevin? Lol (I seriously can only remember Shari and Eve's names with their face) he is SOOOO cute and precious. I find him to be so sweet and innocent and seems overshadowed by Evie's personality.

You should check out She's In Her Apron if you haven't yet. She does lots of domestic stuff but isn't annoying.
Re: 8 Passengers: Part One
I don't like rubys controlling personality and clear favouritism but I will say I do like the editing as well. It is more focused on the everyday tasks of being a mom and I like those types of videos too. She doesn't set up scenes, she embarrassingly over shares at times but it's better than Ellie and Jared
Re: 8 Passengers: Part One
Ruby is truly the most annoying mommy vlogger. Fancy putting her kids through the humiliation of a camera in their face when she is disciplining them. She has no idea .. she would never admit she is wrong about anything.

I knew it! He seems a little sensitive and maybe a tad immature for his age. Ruby seems to know that, so I'm not surprised at all.
