Re: YTMD Pet Peeves
Ollie is actually getting better. Who knows why, but he is. I was really concerned a few months ago. We'll see how it goes. But it does seem that every kid, except Macey Gaines who is way advanced, is being called "delayed". Most of them are boys too, who do tend to talk later.

Re: YTMD Pet Peeves
Just because many of the kids aren't actually delayed, it doesn't change the fact that some are. Or, at best, that they aren't reaching their full potential.lmmomSD wrote:Ollie is actually getting better. Who knows why, but he is. I was really concerned a few months ago. We'll see how it goes. If many of the daily discussions are going to be criticisms of a vloggers daily parenting decisions, then I do think it's natural to point out and mention the possible consequences of those poor decisions.
For example, if a child isn't being mentally stimulated and seems a bit behind the curve despite having two stay at home parents, then I do think that's worth mentioning. Sure development is a spectrum, but I don't think there's any reason why a child with two parents at home should be at the low end of normal when any issues could be noticed far earlier than a busy, working parent might.

Re: YTMD Pet Peeves
That's true. I'm not saying that all of the kids that are suggested as being delayed aren't. Some of them definitely are. Ollie is getting better, for whatever reason, but he's definitely still delayed in my eyes. Jackson, I don't pay enough attention to (like his parents) to notice. Except that they don't correct him when he does that "ee-yo" for "yes". But you're absolutely right that a child with two stay at home parents should have every advantage as far as stimulation and help goes. There's just no excuse. They have the money and the time to invest in their child, and they're just not doing it.

People that will criticize a YTer for moving to a larger/fancier house, but then also criticize a smaller YT for having a house that's too small or not fancy enough

People that defend a YTer when there is no need to, because no one is attacking them, just stating their opinion.

Some babies, children, and adults are ugly. You're not a better person than the rest of us because you think all babies have precious angel souls and are always pure and beautiful.

But what's the point of bringing it up here? How is saying "I think so-and-so is ugly" or "this baby is not cute" contributing to the conversation?RootBeerFloatie wrote:Some babies, children, and adults are ugly. The notification, yes! It bothers me so much that I limit my posts here, because when a new reply came in, the notification stucks no matter how much I refreshed them.PostyMcPosterston wrote:Not about the people, but the app... Anyone else have like 90+ notifications but nothing has loaded since June 5th?
Also, when you click on your own profile (bottom right usually. Not clicking on own name in forum)does it show you as a guest? Or is it just my user error?

The profile, though, I haven't had a problem.

Lol I actually deleted my post because right after this I realized that somehow I wasn't properly logged into tapatalk?! I don't know how it let me post for 2 weeks with this weird issue. I was able to clear all my notifications and see my profile. It wasn't letting me post pics before, too. Now I can.Gre wrote:The notification, yes! Re: YTMD Pet Peeves
I'm sure in a 25 page long thread, this may have already been discussed, but in case it hasn't, here's my pet peeve: People that seriously cannot figure out the quote feature. I moderated another board and we had a minimal use of the quote feature rule. Instead of quoting someone to reply to them if they are directly above you, you simply say "@username: true, but I think...".
There are 4 facets to this pet peeve:
There are 4 facets to this pet peeve:
- 5+ post quote trees. At this point, it's just wasting the website's bandwidth which makes it slower and more susceptible to crashing.
- Quoting long rants to say something like: ":)", "I totally agree" or "thanks!". It doesn't add anything to the discussion and again, wastes the sites bandwidth.
- -Broken quote trees. It happens to everyone at some point by accident where one of the quotes breaks (you accidentally delete a bracket or something). But there are people who, every time without fail, have a broken quote tree of several different posters quotes.
- AND the worst is... a combination of all 3! A super long, broken quote tree where it is indistinguishable who has said what and much of the added information is irrelevant.

Re: YTMD Pet Peeves
^^^ exactly. I screw up sometimes, everyone does. But these horrendous long quote trees, especially if there's a photo included, get nuts.

Re: YTMD Pet Peeves
There's no real reason to quote someone anyway, @username is just as easy. Or, if you're having a conversation the user your talking to can probably assume the reply was meant for them.
I don't know if it's because this site attracts a mommy crowd but there are a lot of tech illiterate people around here.
Don't even get me started on people who type like facebook grandmothers. I skip over so many posts because people don't know basic grammar.

Re: YTMD Pet Peeves
Not necessarily moms but generally the older you are the less you're able to navigate beyond facebook and email. Obviously that's not the case for everyone, but so many people can't seem to figure out a quote tree or how to post pictures. I just wonder if it's because of the kind of users that would typically be attracted to this site.
I'm in my early twenties so I've been on forums for a long time. Like a poster before me said, I've never seen so many people struggle with something so basic.
