Grand Doc has that name because he's a doctor. I think someone said his first name is Jim. You're right about it being the Grandmothers' names though. It's definitely not a Southern thing. I've never heard anything like it but I think it's adorable!

I think it's really cute how they call the grandparents Grandberry, Granddoc and Granddolly. I've only been watching them for a few months- Is there a story on how they got/came up with these names?

I think it's a southern thing! My kids call their grandmothers a variation of their first names with "Grand" in front of the name. Their grandfather's names are nicknames my oldest gave them when he was a toddler that stuck - my poor dad is PeePaw, hahaha

I doubt it's a southern thing. Maybe they didn't want to be called grandma and grandpa. My mom didn't want to be grandma or mawmaw do my daughter calls her Jojo.

We don't do that hear (I'm in the south). It's paw-paw "name" and maw-maw "name." that's how we distinguish.

I'm so disappointed in Cullen. Does anyone give a rat's ass if he has the new iPhone? Anyone except Bryan, Jeff, and Jared anyway? It doesn't make you a better person. It doesn't mean anything in the grand scheme of things.

I cannot stand that Cullen & Katie feel they need to order the latest iPhone when their current one's work just fine. It's such a waste of money. How not to be a DB. Step 1: Don't buy things just to be part of the in-crowd. There's not even anything new that's worth buying the new one.

I was 100% on board with the throwing shade and side-eyeing DB and E&J with some of the stuff C&K have been saying in the vlogs, but now I don't know. Cullen Skyping with Bryan, Jared and Jeff at 2am just to pre-order the new iPhone. Ugh. Would you really throw shade at people in vlogs and then video chat with them while pre-ordering a phone? Why the heck does Apple make people pre-order a phone at 2am anyway?

I either muted or skip through the first 2 1/2 minutes of the vlog so I didn't have to hear/see Bryan or Jared. Or Jeff the puppet.

Okay, so I'm nosey. But I'm sure I could come up with a reason why Kelly and Jay's last home is related to C&K's new home search. Lol, what can you tell me about their last home? I only recall seeing everyone in the family room and they once showed the basement media area. Do tell!

Kelley & Jay's old house sold for $436,900 on July 15th. 4 bedrooms and 4 full and 1 half bathrooms. 3,000 square foot house on .51 acres of land. They bought the house in 2007 for $355,750 and it was built in 1993.

There's another vlog where they are in the kitchen. No idea when it was or what the vlog title was. I'm so helpful on that, aren't I? lol Sorry.
I'm dying to find their new house and see how different it is (# of bedrooms, square footage, etc).

The grandparents I know go by "Granny Dolly" or "Papa Jim." We hear a lot of Nana, Mimi, and Paw Paw too. I've even heard of a "Butter" because the kid couldn't say Grandmother. It came out "Grand Butter." Lol!

Cullen is easily influenced by Bryan, but I think Cullen's family keeps him more grounded. I imagine Grandberry would smack the hell out of Cullen if he were a giant douche like Bryan.

being a southern myself I have noticed that if you don't tell the person that you have a problem with to thier face.

I don't remember if they upgraded their phones last year, so I wouldn't call it a waste. With each update, the older phones get slower. Also, all of the competition has driven down the rates for phone plans. They usually go over that type of thing when you go in to get a new phone. Personally, my rates were cut in half and I have unlimited everything now. I had to give up tethering, but It wasn't a big deal. I hope C&K are making sure they're getting the best rates. They should be trading their old phones in for credit anyway.

I don't get the hate on wanting the latest technology...why would Grandberry care if her adult son, who is clearly financially supporting his family, spent his money on new iPhones? If I could afford a new phone, you bet I'd have preordered it, even though I have an iPhone 6 in good working condition. There are really cool new features on the 7 and the camera looks to be significantly better. I just don't get why anyone cares whether they spend several hundred dollars on phones or not!

Gaines is the cutest thing ever calling for "Big Owl." Cullen and Katie really make parenting look so effortless. They are just amazing parents and have such a good family.


The whole iPhone thing is so dumb. It's a phone. It isn't like they are spending uncontrollably. Their last phones were purchased just before Gaines was born so almost 2 years ago? That is pretty average.

I don't understand the big deal about the iPhone either. Did I miss where Cullen said he's a better person for having it or that it's some huge meaningful thing? He's a good dad and devoted husband, I can't fault him for being excited about a new gadget.

I guess I saw it as being excited to get a new gadget, not thinking he was going to impress people with his tech. Bryan is a different story...he and Cullen are about as like as oil and water, though IMO!
