And sorry for the double post, but people saying they won't get sponsored or they don't watch for this, this was just something he was excited about, and opening anything from new is always the best past (in my opinion) so I didn't see it as being money hungry or showing off.

No, honestly, I would feel the same with any phone he showed off. It's a phone. Maybe it's just me because I think of a phone as something you need to have, not a toy. Even a fancy one with lots of bells and whistles.

I thought I changed my wording before I posted but obviously didn't and can't edit...

When I said another phone that wasn't so hyped up, I meant gadget not phone, but even extending that now, any new item in particular. No one was getting fussy about them getting new couches even though their old one was comfortable, it was just aesthetically displeasing, similar to upgrading up on model on a phone when the other works perfectly fine.

Ok--I can definitely see that point. Maybe it's the connection with Bryan, and the way he lets Bryan and Jared goad him into things.
And they may not have needed a new couch, but that red recliner was very much the worse for wear.

I think y'all are being a bit ridiculous about the phone thing. If you haven't gotten a new iPhone in 2 years, it's a big deal! He even said he loved gadgets, so no wonder he was excited. He didn't tweet Verizon when his order got messed up delaying the delivery of his phone like someone else did when UPS didn't deliver their phone. I laughed so hard when he tried to get Katie with the fake wireless ear buds and she gave him hell for cutting up a perfectly good pair of ear buds. That right there shows you that they aren't materialistic like their "friends". Cut him some slack for being super excited about his new phone.

I loved the vlog today. Cullen is such a great dad. I loved that he took MG to the university and played with her to give Katie a break. And the clip at the end with the toilet paper seriously made me laugh out loud.

Today's video, minus the first few minutes, was all iPhone, iPhone, iPhone. I felt like I was watching Daily Bumps. I couldn't even finish the whole vlog because it just really annoyed me. They really could have made an entirely separate video just for the unboxing.

They went on longer than Bryan did about the phone. What annoyed me is if you're going to show off your new phone, show off some of the new features. If you've unboxed one iPhone, you've unboxed them all. There's nothing new there. Tell me what it does.

There really wasn't even anything "new" about the new iPhone from what I had read. They're the same size/weight as the 6/6plus, I think the camera is supposed to be slightly better, and the no headphone jack thing. All the other changes were internal.

I guess the other hope is that people detaching to iPhone unboxing would end up being extra views and/or new subscribers. Personally, I only enjoy unboxings when I'm doing it in the privacy of my home after rushing home from work to wait on the FedEx man lol

In other news, gains is such a beautiful girl and Cullen just thrives as a loving daddy. It is so sweet

I should have added in my last reply that even as an Android person, if they were unboxing the new S7 I still think it should have been a separate vlog. I think it's a tax write off even if they don't feature the unboxing in the vlogs since they use the phones for "work" by posting to IG, tweeting, etc. I think I'm so not into them doing the unboxing because I watch their vlogs for their daily lives and not unboxings. Just like they made separate videos for their PO Box hauls. I don't mind watching those, but would rather they not take over the entire vlog.

There are software updates that he could have shown off. I know they aren't exclusive to the iphone 7, but if you're going to devote most of the video to it, at least make it interesting. Throw in a picture taken with it or maybe vlog for a couple of seconds with it.

They mentioned in the iPhone vlog that they got a lot of viewers form their unboxing video two years ago. I'm sure Cullen was hoping to drum up some more followers. I'm not even annoyed, which may not be fair, but the fact that he mentioned the popularity of the last one made it clear that he wasn't trying to hide that he pays attention to what bring people to their channel. At least he's not buying any subscribers.

I can't speak for everyone when I say this (I only joined after Brooks was born) but the reason I watch them regularly now is they see be fairly positive people who try to teach their kids how to be good people. Compared to other channels *cough* dailybumps *cough* I think they are refreshing

I can see why kids find them boring but as an adult with 2 kids they are resfreshing to see. I love watching them teach gaines to be a good person!

Cullen is such a good dad. He lives for football but Gaines wasn't herself so he took her back to the condo while Katie stayed at the game. Who else would do that?

I can see why it may be boring, but most days of the week they have some activity that they go to. I think when youtubers start to do things just for the vlog content is when they become fake.
