Due to a bunch of things I got about 5 days behind on C&K vlogs and started catching up tonight, so I'm posting this before getting fully caught up on the vlogs. I just finished the "exciting phone call" vlog from the 19th and had to come comment that I'm so tired of them doing the "where's Gaines?" joke. It was funny the first couple times, but now it's every vlog, and they run it out too long. They stand there and wonder where she is 3 or 4 times and in the background you can hear Gaines getting more frustrated and crying that she's "right here". Kid is going to get a complex that mom and dad can't find her and it'll make her feel ignored. Ask it once or twice and then find her. If they don't notice her dislike of this "game" when it's happening, how can Cullen not hear the terror in her voice when he's editing?

Ok wait. Just started the vlog uploaded on the 20th. And Cullen asked once "where's Gaines?" and right away she sounded very distressed and panicked saying "right here". And he keeps on going, looking in the oven and microwave and she's screaming and crying about where she is. I'm honestly surprised the vlog didn't get more thumbs down for that bit, though there also don't seem to be as many thumbs up's as usual.

This is the vlog with the "it was HER idea" comment, which I wonder if they intended to sound as rude as it did.

Is this is the face of someone who is enjoying this "where are you?" game?

I'm sure of it. Or they plan on it soon by the way Katie said "now we gotta hurry and get the house stuff done"

The black countertops seem random to me. I think they should have kept them light, especially since white kitchens are very popular right now. It might have appealed to more potential buyers.

I think the kitchen will either look greater or awful depending on the backsplash they have chosen. I'm not sure if they have said, but I think white would look nice. But then that suits my style.
I like how Cullen reduced the shout outs but still is doing them, its a good way to thank people. But its also smart on his behalf --> more retweets = more views.

I think the black counter tops are weird only because the rest of the house is so bright! And are they getting the backsplash shown in a recent vlog where they were really excited that it had "CK swag" colors? I don't think that will work for potential buyers at all, so hopefully they were joking? Also I'm wondering if they are going to paint the rest of the house or leave all the different colored rooms!

I don't understand, if there's a conversation going on that doesn't interest you, just don't engage in it? I don't see why every poster needs to "move on" or stop talking about something to appease you. In my opinion a lot of people give Cullen a huge pass on things that other YouTube stage parents are reamed for- if any other channel was repeatedly doing something that made their kid cry on camera, they would be rightfully questioned for it.

I can sorta see why Cullen keeps doing the 'where's Gaines' thing. On camera most of the time she seems upset, but today when he said for her to hide and he would find her she was happy. Maybe it depends on the length of time Cullen 'looks' for Gaines?

I can't edit my above post but maybe there have been times where we haven't seen her face and it sounded like she was upset but she was enjoying it? In today's vlog when she was having fun doing it, if you weren't watching it easily could have been mistaken for her being upset.

I think its just a case of a toddler being a toddler. She likes the game and initiated it herself in the vlog today. I think sometimes she likes it and sometimes she doesn't, and sometimes mid game she dislikes it and then goes right back to liking it again, Toddlers are weird and i don't think he needs to stop doing it, bc as it was shown today, she really does like it and thinks its funny.

Question about the twitter discussion Cullen and Jared had yesterday about ads... I thought ads were generated by the content that you watch, depending on what videos you watched on YT, you got different ads catered towards different things. Like if you watch more kids videos you got more kid friendly ads, adult content gets you adult ads. I guess what i mean is that the user is more in control of the ads they see than the creator or YT themselves? I do understand the frustration of all the new rules about content and revenue though, if creators can get revenue taken away for certain content, then YT shouldn't be able to use ads that do not abide by those same rules.

There's a big difference to me between playing hide-and-go-seek where your toddler is purposefully hiding, versus ignoring a toddler by pretending you don't see them when they cry out. It was pretty clear to me that she was getting upset again in today's video and he just cut as soon as she sounded distressed. Katie is trying to set it up as hide-and-go-seek and explain the game to her ("Shhh He thinks you're in your bed.") but their child clearly doesn't get it or doesn't want to play if she's yelling out "No! Right here!" Every single time she gets upset, so I don't understand why he keeps doing it. I don't see any ambiguity there. It's not fun for her, he's just started editing it out as soon as she starts to get upset and then cutting back once she's been calmed down. But you can still hear her get upset and you can still see the look on her face once they've consoled her and it's pretty obvious she's not having it.

Gaines' imagination is amazing. With the imaginary bouncy ball to fix the lights at the park, she's too precious,
Just the opinion of an internet stranger. Don't take anything personally, for your own sake as well as mine.

This morning, she said she wanted to hide again. I am thinking it is related to how long he says he can't see her.
But how freaking cute was she with the new clothes? Holding the outfit up for Brooks, and being so excited about the new dress. I had to go make some phone calls, and I couldn't leave the living room. The cuteness was too powerful, lol.

They are being called out in the comments because the first scene in the kitchen is definitely old because there are old counter tops.

I'm not bothered by the "where's Gaines?" game. I believe she generally likes the game and often initiates it. One day when Cullen went to get her from her crib after a nap, she said "I hear Mommy Daddy voices" and meant it the same way C&K say "I hear Gaines' voice, where is she?" She is interested in this game and I believe her bright little mind is trying to make sense of it, which is why she still wants to play. Yes, sometimes she gets frustrated, but they always "find" her and comfort her. This is not my idea of a traumatic childhood.

And I agree with those who have pointed out here and in C&K's YouTube comments that toddlers are completely crazy. At the age of three, my stepgirl would beg for "chickie nuggets" then have a meltdown when I served her homemade bite-size fried chicken nuggets instead of the frozen dinosaur-shaped nuggets she ate at her mom's house. They were basically clones of the Chik Fil A chicken chunks, which she loved, but toddlers are literally crazy. There were plenty of times that giving her what she wanted resulted in a freak-out. I can only say it's a good thing we weren't vloggers... Because no, we certainly didn't take these incidents seriously and cater to her in order to prevent them. Sometimes kids get upset. The world does not stop turning for them when it happens.

They might have filmed the beginning a while ago because it was a sponsored video. They probably had the date for the sponsorship pre-set, and didn't want to wait until the last minute to film that clip.

I don't think it's a trauma or anything, I just don't understand why Cullen can't identify the line between what constitutes a fun game that his child enjoys and taking it too far to the point where he's upsetting her. To me, the child is making it pretty obvious where the line is- don't pretend you don't hear me or see me when I'm trying to end the game and get your attention. It's uncomfortable to watch her melt down on camera over and over again. Yes, toddlers are finicky. But it looks like he's provoking her by pushing beyond the limit she's established for how she wants to engage in the game. I think Katie gets it, she scolded him for teasing her when he went on his tangent about how to make friends at pre-school because Gaines is too young to understand. He's a class clown, which is funny at times, but he doesn't always know when he's crossing the line and Katie seems to step in a lot to rein him in by being the parent.
