Please don't assume everyone is the same. I was in a very abusive relationship where I was almost murdered and luckily got away. Every day I have to live with the memories and certain things trigger memories. As much as I would love to move on and not dwell on it doesn't make it not true.

Notice I said MOST PEOPLE. Notice I also didn't say "forget it altogether"...I said "move on."

Many of us have stories here, but we've had children, gotten married and have tried to put the past behind us. Living with memories and writing songs about it or constant FB posts (we all know THAT person) is very different. Do you start a new job and make sure everyone at work knows your past from 10 years ago? That's what I'm talking about. Again though, that's just been my experience within the community and support groups I belong to.

That makes sense. Sorry that just kind of struck a chord and I overreacted. Thanks for explaining.

I liked the music video but I don't think it matched the song well.

With the piano, after reading here I get the sentimental value now, but I still think she would have reacted the way she did when she saw the flagpole. I'm thinking either she knew about it, or because it was coming from Bryan she wasn't as emotional.

Thinking about it now, unless it wasn't filmed, but wouldn't you hear in the background some evidence of people carrying a piano in?

"So basically " it was 10 seconds of footage in extreme SLOW MO ? Is that Music videos nowadays? Why does it all have to be in slow mo?

Just saying, my dad is an alcoholic and I still love my dad when he is not drunk. I used to be upset when my dad gets drunk, but now as 22 years old, i don't get upset when my dad drinks because my dad choose to be drunk and i don't want follow in his footsteps. My dad and i are not close, but he is my dad and i can't change his habits and im just thankful to have a dad in my life, i do regret not having an father and daughter relationship, but its not my fault and i can't do anything to get it. I stay strong and just learn from my dad poor habits

I actually liked the music video but I felt like the kids part and the teenagers part didn't flow well together. I did like the concept and I see what they were trying to do but don't think they completely pulled it off. The song is okay, very generic, very vanilla. Easy to sing which makes it worse when you hear Bryan struggle in it, it's very repetitive and I think a different octave would have worked better for him.

Did Bryan then live with the Hollisters? Did they really go from Missy is not allowed to wear pants to her teenage boyfriend could move in?
I have gone back to the video to check, and Bryan went to live with a friend for a couple of months, then went to his grandmother until he and Missy moved in together.

Thanks! They moved in right after high school. They really haven't experienced independence at all. It's pretty sad.

Well Bryan, your song's music video is such a hit, less views than the daily vlog, and less view than 1/10th of your 'human' subscribers. Great job man.

I can't believe I wasted minutes of my life watching that music video. At least I have adblock. The song is stupid..the tune sounds like something rich people would pay an agency to write for you, a la "Friday" by Rebecca Black.

The lyrics are so cringy as well; vague-speak is the WORST, ugh. To me it feels like the truth is that Bryan's experience growing up wasn't THAT bad, but he is trying to imply it was *so horrible* and he is *so deep*, without actually lying about anything, through selective information and now this vague video.

There isn't even 200k views on the Idaho video yet. Where are your millions of fans to watch your videos Bryan? It must crush his ego that his channel isn't with Vevo yet.

On another note, I found this channel. Their nine year-old fans are so obsessed :?

When missy said she was making a Betty Crocker recipe I cracked up... that's not a recipe, that's a box haha.
Also, I wonder what Bryan's mom thinks of his video. I wouldn't ever put stuff out there that makes my mom look bad.

But you don't bring it up whenever you can and do music videos about it, right? I think the point HS is making is that he loves to "share" that story, and not in any kind of way to help and empower others. And all we have is his side of the story.
BTW-- props to you for getting out. I know how much courage that takes after your self esteem has been undermined to the point you think you don't deserve better.

I really hate to stick up for Missy, but there _is_ a Betty Crocker cookbook, so conceivably she could have been making it from a Betty Crocker recipe, but you never know with Missy. Did she show the box?

If she does use a recipe, I'm surprised she isn't calling it "her famous chocolate cake" by now like she does her cookies Image
