I don't think that it's an individual family choice is being denied. And I don't think there was any judgement-- just asking if quitting a well paying job with benefits would ever be considered a good _financial_ move. That's taking the emotions out of it-- jobs with benefits aren't always that easy to come by. So even if someone decides that it's the best choice for their family,it still might not be the best _financial_ move for them.

I've been offline for a few days - sorry for the late response! In my original post, I meant to quote a poster who said that Katie staying at home wasn't a good financial move for them (or something to that regard - I can't find the post right now) and I was just asking if quitting a job to be a SAHM could ever be considered a good FINANCIAL move.

Basically exactly what ImmomSD said :) Choosing to quit a well paying job with benefits can't ever really be considered a good financial move, even if it might be the best choice for the family. I say this as a SAHM who recently quit a well paying job with benefits...it was the right choice for our family, but it certainly wasn't the best choice for our finances! It's taken quite a bit of budgeting and cutting the extras to make it work - which is worth it - but still difficult.

They also say you can't monetize videos with copyrighted content, so I wonder why Cullen is editing in all those clips from TV shows and commercials? Presumably those are copyrighted. It seems like views and subscribers matter for getting sponsorship contracts, but I'm not sure YouTube pays anything based on views alone. I think once you have Google Adsense set up, you get a commission based on viewer engagement with the ad. I think the bulk of revenue is coming from affiliate marketing and product placement.
Very short clips of copyrighted content can be used, something like 10 or 15 seconds. I'm not sure if it gets any more nuanced than that, but the short clips are great for Cullen's purposes.

Am I the only one who hates the clips he throws in? So annoying!

Also, making your toddler cuss is beyond trashy. That is all.

Oddly enough, there are no precise clip lengths dictated under fair use doctrine when it comes to determining how much of a copyrighted video or song one can use. It's just so ambiguous I think you're opening yourself up to a takedown notice because it's just not clear what's fair use and what's infringing on a copyright. It's too much of a grey area legally. Cullen has a lawyer in the family, but I just wouldn't want to open myself up to that. They already dealt with one instance where Katie's channel was reported and that was a huge hassel, imagine if their main channel is taken down and they suddenly don't have an income while it gets sorted out with YouTube?

Have things changed, or is it still bad for little girls to have lots of bubble baths? Especially for 45 minutes? When my daughter was little, they told us not to because their urethras can get irritated, and UTI's can happen.
I tried googling it, and there were pages on both sides.

I think the concern was when parents would only give their kids bubble baths, instead of normal showers every night.

I remember my daughter had this issue and at first i had no clue that bubble baths caused UTI's until our ped brought it up.. I was told that some children are more sensitive than others. Some kids can get a UTI from the first time, others it takes many many baths to get one. Basically were were told to only do it occasionally and NEVER to use Mr Bubble, that it was the worst offender on irritation. She recommended just using what ever baby wash we used on her and not more than once a week or less. After that we only let her have bubble baths a couple times a month (tops), and most times she would stay in the bath for 45 mins to an hour depending on when her water got cold enough that we made her get out. She loved them and never had another issue after the first time that she had an UTI (before that i was letting her do it a couple times a week)

Neither of my kids ever took showers until they were old enough to bath themselves, they always took tub baths and didn't have problems with UTI's unless we used actual bubble bath, not Johnson's/Aveeno/Honest ect..

A little off topic but looking at the future of YouTube and I believe someone mentioned Clintus TV on this board. Interesting, Casey Niestat is leaving daily vlogs (saying it had become easy and no challenges) and this was having Clintus reflect on his future with daily vlogs. Clintus premise is daily vlogs are boring (their lives) and after watching some of his, he is right and I rarely watch him since I find him to be a whinny guy about life especially with a purchase of a RV. He is going to be added to the list of those either leaving or contemplating leaving daily vlogs. But, I kept thinking, how will you support yourself or do you go back to regular work, but he explained he would be doing more things live (my opinion it is easier since it saves time editing and uploading I guess) and he has a gaming channel which I don't know if it is a good one or not. My other thought is do some of these vloggers become complacent and just don't realize what it is like to be back at a job eight or more hours a day/five days a week and really this isn't a difficult job compared to many other career paths or jobs.

I notice Katie recently mentioned she was grateful to have both parents home...I tend to wonder do these vloggers read this site. I also think about what Clintus said about vlogs being boring...there are only so many parks to visit, eating out experiences, putting up a tree, and it goes on and on...

Yes, i think they all do, cullen and katie included. My husband and i love our white noise machine lol He thought he would hate it at first but now hes the first to complain when we forget to turn it on.
We sleep with a box fan in our room on the lowest setting. Something my husband has always done. Their sound machines sound awfully loud. Maybe it just sounds that way on video though?

Those southern folks know how to put on a feast. I never seen so much food in two days. I agree with Katie how nice it is they include in-law extended families to their Thanksgiving celebrations. We've done this, but not to this extent.

I really like Cullen, but he just did a Periscope where he was showing a man that was had obviously had too much to drink and was struggling. He made sure to mention they were an Auburn fan, like that somehow justified the public shaming. It came off as rude and bullying. It really left me feeling bad for the man, and made Cullen look like as asshole with no respect for people's privacy.

Maybe they could do a wife swap with Jared's Ellie and Katie in the New Year. 8-)

That was a bit mean spirited of him. In other news, Random Robbie @ 13:53 mins = YUM! LOL. And boy, he was a natural on camera. :D

I feel like this isn't the first time Cullen has filmed someone who didn't know it and made rude comments. Anyone else remember another incident?

He filmed a homeless guy in LA once.
On another note, it's so cute how Gaines has picked up on Cullen calling Brooks "buddy". She's so sweet going "Hey, Buddy!"

Is there any way to protect your privacy with vlogs. For example, if you are filmed or picture in television etc. you need to give them signed permission?
