Can someone explain if gender selection is actually possible? I know, in theory money can buy anything, but I thought that wasn't something that was done just because parents wanted one sex over the other. So would they have to go to some shady fly-by-night clinic to get it done?

I want to believe Missy isn't that shallow and would take her chances on a third baby being a boy. Or just stop having babies if she's going to be resentful of a third. But I'm not so sure.

No, it's totally a thing. Chrissy Teigen did it with her daughter. If you have enough money you can do whatever you want.

I don't think they did gender selection. There would be more than just a few blood tests for Missy, as well as quite a few ultrasounds. That would be a lot to film around and I'd be surprised if they pulled it off without our suspecting something was up.

Not gonna lie. We did the "Timed Intercourse" method for all of our kids, and got the desired result each time. Boy first, then two girls. Well, the third kid we left to chance. But, whether coincidence or not, it worked for us for the first two.

That's very true that it would be a lot to film around. However, they kept the house hunting under wraps for quite a while. The vlogs were ultra boring around that time, and they often "forgot" to vlog until the afternoon or evening. I'm seeing a similar pattern now. Also, I just don't think Missy is willing to chance having another boy. They throw money at everything else, so why not this?

I hope that they didn't do sex selection, just because Finn will be even more forgotten if Missy gets her girl. Also, seeing Missy's reaction at a gender reveal of another boy will be priceless! Lol! I feel bad for that kid if it is a boy. Well, I feel bad for all of the Lumps' children, so that's nothing new.

I looked up the costs of gender selection, and it's $3000-$5000 plus IVF costs. That's nothing for B&M to spend!

IVF is so invasive though. Missy would have 2 procedures done (egg retrieval and embryo transfer). One of which would require being anesthesia. And then she'd be on bedrest for at least 2 days following the embryo transfer. If not longer. Unless they are prefilming vlogs, I've seen no evidence of bedrest.

Plus IVF involves lots of med injections. I still think Missy is too much of a wimp for that.

I could see them doing IUI with and doing it with female chromosome sperm only.

Yeah, I don't think missy would want to do any other the medical things, so I find it really hard to believe they would do gender selection. I kind of think if she is pregnant it may have been an accident. I also think it will be a girl though

If she is pregnant, I don't understand her behavior at all. She's rollerblading now, which isn't super dangerous, but it isn't something I would've done when I was newly pregnant. Also, the day before she took a pregnancy test for Finn, she was riding roller coasters at Universal Studios. There was also the speculation that she was riding Bryan's hover board when she was pregnant, since she was a little too comfortable on it the first time she supposedly rode it on the vlog. I'm definitely on team Missy's Pregnant, but I just don't understand why she never seems to be careful with her body when she is pregnant!

If she's as reckless with this (or her next, since this is just speculation still) pregnancy as she was with Finn's I doubt they did any sort of gender selection. No way would she risk her baby girl.

Also, who's to say that the girl will stay a girl? I know a family who had 2 boys and 1 girl. Their daughter is now transitioning into a male at the age of 16. When it comes to pregnancy, people should just let nature take its course, whatever will be will be! You should love your child regardless of their gender. Your 'daughter' may not stay your daughter after all, she could become your son!

I honestly don't see anything unethical about sex selection, or even "designer" babies. It's not my body, so it's not my business.

Plenty of people have very valid reasons to chose one sex over the other. There are many sex specific conditions that couples might want to avoid passing down to offspring. Or if a family wants children of each sex, I don't see why making sure that happens is a problem.

More importantly, it isn't anyone else's business what a woman chooses when it comes to reproduction. And I certainly would never say that something should be illegal based on my own moral hang-ups.

That's why the whole getting excited about a gender annoys me. Missy imagines a little girl that she can dress in pink and get her nails done with. We've seen the frilly outfits she picked out for Kelsey's baby. There's a good chance that her daughter may not like pink or princesses. She might be more into bugs and playing in the dirt.

I don't think we're thinking about gender selection the way we should be.

Gender selection probably means Missy would be artificially inseminated, which means she won't have to have her sweaty meatloaf of a husband planting his seed inside her.
