A pet is a pet is a pet. It doesn't matter if it's a dog, a cat, a chicken, a hamster, a gerbil, a guinea pig, a fish... if someone doesn't want their pet to be eaten at the end of their life, then that's the pet guardian's choice. Thats why we have burial and cremation. Most people I know wouldn't pull their aging goldfish out of the tank and fry 'em up!Theirmom wrote:So you...what? Just let them die of old age and buried them? Euthanized them like a cat or dog? Or did you give them to someone else's soup pot when their time had come?BlueMountains wrote: I had chickens and I could never eat them, they are to me pets. Yes I know chicken is food, but its the same as eating a dog when it dies, I just will never do it.

I can understand not personally raising them for food. But most people who do that still give them away as Stew chickens when they've reached the end point.
It seems silly to set up a pet cemetery for a flock of chickens.
