I just looked up listings for 5+ bedrooms in Modesto and yikes, this city looks gross. All the houses around 300k or less were in way worse condition than theirs (theirs isn't bad condition, just out dated ) or turned out to be duplexes. I saw 2 decent ones but they were 315k and 324k, I obviously don't know their budget but i'm assuming it's around what they paid (301k)

Not to mention these houses with 5+ bedrooms were crammed into 2000 square ft or less. Even though I wish they'd have gotten a 5 bedroom house I think what they got is better after looking at the other options.

I'm cool with Jess saving money and buying a fixer-upper. Our tiny 800 square foot condo cost about $320 000. (I live an hour from Toronto) It was outdated too, but we've put in a lot of work to update it.

I hope Jess and Chris don't end up splitting up from reno stress. It's definitely a stressful time...

Holy crap, whoever said that 4 bedroom house is definitely it cuz of the wallpaper is right. It's so creepy to think that we so easily found out where she lives on such little information. And how scraps of wallpaper can confirm that's her house. I'd be pretty freaked out if I were Jess. I wonder if she even gives a shit. Lol

Reading how much houses are in other places is scary !!! My husband and I own a 3 bed 2 bath on 1/2 an acre that we rent out and we paid about 50k for it. Lol it was a fixer upper but worth it. We also build a 4 bed 4 1/2 bathroom home with garage, entertainment room kitchen and laundry room for 120k. Each room has its own bathroom and then there's half a bathroom in the garage. I live in Texas lol

Brb moving to Texas. You can't even buy a piece of land here for 50k

Properties here are crazy cheap compared to other places. There's a house for sell down the street and it's beautiful but the bank only wants 75k for it because it was filled with drugs and illegal immigrants a few months ago lol

A small yard, small living area and 4 small looking bedrooms is not a good investment for 7 kids, fixer upper or not. If it's close to the old house why are the kids moving school? She also said it's their forever home so that sucks for those kids all squashed in. Her kids are wild and noisey so it'll be even worse in time. I can see accidents ahead with her kids running and shoving each other on the stairs.

Painting walls and having someone fit new carpet is just redecorating, any of us who have really renovated a property know all the work involved, so it will grate on me if she's hardly doing anything and going to drag it out for views and call it renovating. I don't think ugly decor matters but the size doesn't look great for her family. If she'd stopped after the twins they could've lived in a nice area with a nicer property and a better life for them all, but her poor choices ruined that. Anyone should be proud to buy their first home but she's calling this their forever home and squeezing 7 kids into 3 bedrooms after 7 years of youtube so i don't think it's that much to be proud of. I don't know how much income she gets from YT but if she'd said it was a project for the next few years until they can afford to move to a more suitable property for her family then that would sound more hopeful. Let's hope she doesn't have anymore kids or she'll have 3 squeezed into every room and teenagers with no personal privacy or quiet to study.

Yes hopefully Jess is serious about Addie being the last baby because it would not be ideal to have three people sharing a small room. She would have to move again unless if they convert the garage into more bedrooms.

Totally agree with you. I have a 5 year old boy and another boy on the way and we still plan to buy a 3-4 bedroom home. Even with only two boys they will still need their own rooms for privacy as teenagers.

I know right, everyone is saying it's a good idea but kids grow up into teenagers. What the hell are they all going to do then, surely Jessica isn't done squeezing out kids yet.
