Steps to Wander: Natural Disaster
Re: Steps to Wander: Natural Disaster
I think Missy is very supportive of Kelsey. When Missy is away from Bryan and around people she actually likes, she's a different person. ... I think Kelsey put in a good effort, more than I expected of her. When I was pregnant I said I was going to try to go without an epidural, but if I was induced I probably would get it. Well, I was induced. I was still open to trying though. I was restricted to a bed which was hard to labor that way, and after 12 hours I had only changed 1 cm even though the pain had greatly increased. I was 5cm and got an epidural. I was pushing an hour later, and had him after 20 minutes. My midwife even said she thinks the epidural helped my body relax and progress. Hopefully that happened for Kelsey too.

Yes! I had a doula as well! She was amazing. She really helped achieve birthing unmedicated. Not gonna lie, I asked for the epidural. But when they came to administer it I told them no. I was that person .PhoenixFeathers wrote:They never took a child birth class did they? Then they would know that she wasn't in labor from the first cramps.
They should have gotten a Doula. I had an unmedicated birth and attribute a large portion of being able to manage it to having a Doula. I wonder what positions they tried to encourage progression? My Doula had me all over the place trying to keep things moving.
Wonder why she hadn't progressed past a 4? I hope she is still available to have a vagibal birth. But the longer she goes the less chance she has.

First birth I had an epidural, second unmedicated. Labor hurts. Thank God my second was short.
She's doing great. She listened to her body like she wanted. That's good. She knew her "breaking" point.

Re: Steps to Wander: Natural Disaster
Judging by the way Missy pigged out when she was in labor and I mean active labor in the hospital, she'll make sure Kelsey eats. I couldn't believe it-- biscuits and gravy, Panda Express, lots of other greasy stuff. All I could think about was how much I puked in transition.onbreak wrote:46 hours... I hope they let her eat
One thing I know for sure..... Whatever your birth plan is, that's not going to happen!

They don't need a doula, I'm pretty sure that's what Missy is there for. After all, she knows more than the midwives and doctors she's ever dealt with!PhoenixFeathers wrote:They never took a child birth class did they? Then they would know that she wasn't in labor from the first cramps.

Re: Steps to Wander: Natural Disaster
I totally get Kelsey wanting an epidural after going into their second night with no sleep, I was exhausted after laboring overnight and barely had enough energy for pushing. I'm kind of glad she didn't let her birth plan get in the way of doing what was best for June, I really didn't think she would budge out of principal but I'm glad she took the advice of her medical team.

Yeah, I think she made a wise decision. Hopefully getting some rest helped her progress.

I guess I'm the only B for not feeling bad for her. She was so full of herself and didn't even really follow her own advice to go natural and let Juniper come on her own. When she she got to the hospital and wasn't even 4cm dialated I laughed since she was being so melodramatic for hours before hand. I do hope she doesn't need an emergency c section but other than that, no sympathy on my part.

Re: Steps to Wander: Natural Disaster
I don't feel bad for her. They were so full of themselves with their plans. From what we have seen things are going pretty normally, its not what they wanted but as of now everyone is healthy. Maybe now they wont be so full of themselves? Although I think its mostly Corbin who has that attitude.
And as much as I don't like Missy I think its good she's there, she could offer a lot of supportive comments on birth not going as planned but still being ok.

Re: Steps to Wander: Natural Disaster
I did! But I actually felt bad for her, saying she felt like a failure. I didn't progress until I got my epidurals, and both times, I went from 3-10 in 2 hours after I got them in. I really hope she doesn't have to have a C-section, because if she felt like a failure getting an epidural, can you imagine how devastated she's going to be with a C-section?westwuff wrote:Lol who called the epidural..
I would want to throat punch Corbin if I were Kelsey. I hate that he always calls her "my love", and he was patting her back and not looking like he was being an effective coach at all. And does he always use such stilted language? "They're going to break her bag of waters" It just sounded like some Dickensian term. I know I am nitpicking, but I don't know how she lives with him. That beard and the way he talks... Ewww. I guess there's a lid for every pot.

Oh I can't stand him either. I like Kelsey better than Corbin but I still sidee eye most of what she says too. Climbing up a mountain twice and then getting all defensive about how --some-- people can just relax but she knows what her body needs. How? You've never been pregnant before! And even if you have, each baby and pregnancy is different.

Re: Steps to Wander: Natural Disaster
I thought they hadn't taken a birthing class. OK, sympathy gone now that I know for sure that they didn't. How can you hope to stick to a natural birth, or even know if your birth plan is realistic if you don't take any classes? No wonder Corbin seemed so ineffectual. He didn't have a freaking clue how to help her. I saw her practically laying on her tummy and was wondering if she was having back labor. He wouldn't know how to help with that, would he? Why in this day and age, if you have a birth plan, would you not want to go in as prepared as possible? Big time eye rolling here.

Yeah his hair is so ridiculous! I watched the proposal video the other day and he was actually really attractive back then. He should go back to having his hair like that.
Anyone else as irritated with all the "we are still in labor" "we are pushing" we, we, we? No, you pretentious asshat, YOU are not pushing, your wife is!

Re: Steps to Wander: Natural Disaster
Yep. Get a doula!!! Also it pisses me off that the midwives TOLD them to get sleep that first night & instead she stayed up and kept trying to progress the labor. I understand how excited they were, but if you can sleep, DO IT. Idiots.PhoenixFeathers wrote:They never took a child birth class did they? Re: Steps to Wander: Natural Disaster
It's sad that she feels like a failure. She shouldn't feel that way. However, she was so pretentious in all of her bumpdates and so many comments told her to expect the unexpected and she'd brush them off. She wanted to control every last detail and you can't do that with birth. I hope she gets the vaginal birth that she wants and that her and June are both healthy through delivery, but I totally saw this coming.

Re: Steps to Wander: Natural Disaster
With all the information at her fingertips, she set herself up to fail because she fastasized of being a hippie.... henna this, sustainable that, drug and chemical are bad so natural birth it is. They purposely leave the part regarding to IV, epidural, and catheter in the vlog looking for sympathy.... no, honey.... you failed.

Re: Steps to Wander: Natural Disaster
They totally failed. She had no job and no responsibility for months. They chose to spend money on spa treatments instead of educating themselves or finding a doula. If they weren't so pretentious I'd feel sorry for them. I bet they think natural labor is a joke-- or, they did.
Re: Steps to Wander: Natural Disaster
Yeah if natural birth was that important to me I'd definitely prioritize paying for a doula. Or he'll, at least find one in training that is free or very low cost!ohaudrey wrote:They totally failed.
