Cullen and Katie: House Woes Part #9
Re: Cullen and Katie: House Woes Part #9
I loved their livestream. So raw, emotional and real.
And if you think it was an hour long livestream about their clutter then you completely missed the point of the video.
The clutter talk is getting so old. Some people are neat, some are not. It's nothing new.

It didn't have to do with the clutter, but the fact they likely read here and it seems to bother them. There was a point to this vlog? It was fine, but it seemed like you heard from a very tired couple after working hard all week. I haven't watched all of it with being an hour long.pohtahtoh wrote:I loved their livestream. Re: Cullen and Katie: House Woes Part #9
Since it was me that stated the video was about them excusing their clutter based on two miscarriages and a live birth (Gaines), I've quoted you directly, hope you don't mind. If you follow their train of thought throughout the hour (which is live and therefore unedited), it seems there is evidence that the livestream was triggered by comments about their cluttered lifestyle. And in turn, once Katie found the pregnancy tests she was triggered again to realize/understand why their change in lifestyle happened (the clutter being one of those changes, her 'hope' being another).pohtahtoh wrote:And if you think it was an hour long livestream about their clutter then you completely missed the point of the video.
She was open about those changes in the livestream as was Cullen, that the second miscarriage affected and impacted them in many ways, one of which is their cluttered lifestyle. Sorry if you're not able to see the nuances in what was being discussed in the livestream. I get that folk are peeved about this topic being continually brought up, but when even Cullen and Katie bring it up in a live vlog and directly link it to their TTC journey I think discussing the link between the two (that they themselves have just made) is not exactly unrealistic. Of course I get that the majority was about their TTC but one cannot ignore the linked discussions that they also had.

Re: Cullen and Katie: House Woes Part #9
Im on the fence with the live stream video...it seemed like one giant excuse for their unhealthy lifestyle.
I FULLY understand how miscarriage changes you, Ive had two. Its a huge deal, but its not an excuse to stop living life. They used it as an excuse for their weight, for their clutter, for basically everything wrong in their lives. And if that's the case then they really should get some professional help because at this point its going to negatively impact the two children they DO have.
It also seemed really defensive. Like comments are getting to them.

Re: Cullen and Katie: House Woes Part #9
I read their comments written by their viewers who really like them. Again, they are a nice couple. I wish they stop reading here and focus on the positive comments in their YouTube comment section. I don't want my messages implied in their vlogs. I share them among people on this board who also post their opinions and not with the YouTubers.
I don't know them and I shouldn't have any influence on their life. I will leave it at that.

Re: Cullen and Katie: House Woes Part #9
I wonder if Katie has considered speaking to someone like a therapist to help her work through this? I feel like she's mentioned quite a few times how affected she was by her miscarriages. Her reaction to her fourth pregnancy with Brooks comes to mind. If she's holding on to the pregnancy tests and connecting her inability to throw things away or clean her house with the miscarriages, it sounds like she has some latent issues that are affecting her everyday life. I seem to remember her connecting her weight gain and her eating habits to her miscarriages in the past as well as on the live stream. Finding the pregnancy tests and feeling sad is totally normal, but it sounds like she's dealing with grief and maybe depression that's still making it hard for her to function if she's saying she could stare at the old pregnancy tests all day and cry over the children they didn't have. Plus, Katie did have a very stressful pregnancy with Brooks towards the end. All that stress can pile up and affect your mood without you realizing it.
I've wondered why two stay-at-home parents can't manage to work out, eat healthy, clean their house, etc. But now I'm wondering if in some weird way the grief they went through trying to have a baby makes Katie feel like she can't do certain things like clean the house or go to the gym because it means she's not appreciating her children enough or spending enough time with them. Or her depression is making her not care about taking care of herself and her home.
I'm glad they shared the live stream. But I do hope this was a turning point for them and they do seek professional help to work through some of this and don't use the miscarriages as a continued excuse to neglect certain things like their health. It sounds like Katie was starting to realize she's dealing with a form of depression.

Re: Cullen and Katie: House Woes Part #9
I just have one nitpicking thing to say. If they're so exhausted, why do an hour long Livestream at midnight? Why not earlier? I am sure the kids are in bed early enough that they could have done it earlier.
I never had a miscarriage, so I can't rag on them for how they have let it affect their lives. But it just seems to me, with two beautiful healthy children, it would help to be getting past it. Definitely not over it, but not so grief stricken that they are living in clutter that seems to bother them from what they say, and keeping them from maintaining a healthy lifestyle. I also hope that she's getting help. Cullen too.
If I vlogged, and my cluttered lifestyle really didn't bother me, I would likely ignore the comments, or if I did get defensive, it would be more along the lines of "people like honesty, this is honestly how I live, and I am OK with it". That's what I meant by saying it seems to bother them too.
And no, I wouldn't keep a home pregnancy test. A picture with the date, yes. But a stick with pee on it, no.
Sorry, that was more than one thing.

I loved this emotional raw video. I love that they openly discuss their losses. Most people like missy do not. I have never had a loss so it helps me understand how others feel.

Re: Cullen and Katie: House Woes Part #9
I'll admit it, I kept my pee sticks the whole time I was pregnant with my rainbow baby. I was incredibly paranoid, and after three previous losses I worried throwing the test away would somehow "tempt fate" and I would lose another one. Miscarriages make you so desperate, scared, and powerless. On the outside I seemed fine and no one knew, but on the inside I was a grief stricken mess. When my son was about 6 months old I was finally able to throw the test away, but I'm not gonna lie, I was still scared. In this way I get what Katie is saying. I get why she feels the need to hold onto them.
That said though.... enough time has passed that the losses aren't fresh, and when I don't clean my house, it's because I'm feeling lazy. I have a tendency to hold onto things, but I can't stand my home being too cluttered. There is a point where I'd lose my mind, especially if both my husband and I were home all day, everyday. While I completely understand there being lasting emotional effects from their losses, I fail to see how this translates into an inability to clean. If this is the case, C&K need to get help. Part of me thinks being home all the time has become unhealthy for them, and that they would benefit from getting out of the house more. As much as I want to defend them, their excusing the "clutter" by saying it goes back to their losses just sounds like an excuse to me, and that doesn't sit well with me.
I really like C&K, but lately I feel like they are regressing in maturity. One thing is clear after the livestream, until these emotional issues are resolved, they should make sure there isn't even a slight chance of getting pregnant.

I agree, they need to get some help. Its not normal, four years later, two healthy babies later, to say you don't even clean your home because of the miscarriages, that's not healthy.HelloSweetie wrote:I'll admit it, I kept my pee sticks the whole time I was pregnant with my rainbow baby. Re: Cullen and Katie: House Woes Part #9
I agree, livestream and do it earlier, specifically regards them both saying how emotionally drained they are and Katie said she'd poured/drank a glass of wine half an hour earlier (when they watched back the nest cam of them hugging) and Cullen said towards the end his tears were beer tears. Not the best idea to up and do an hour's livestream under those conditions when this is your job. Btw, only one kid in the house as Katie said Gaines has been gone two days at Kelly's/grandparents.lmmomSD wrote:I just have one nitpicking thing to say. Re: Cullen and Katie: House Woes Part #9
If they really feel like they cant clean because of their losses then they are proabably dealing with some form of depression. It makes you not want to care for yourself or your things and lock yourself away from everyone else (which they mentioned in the video). So, if that is the case, they should probably see a professional.
And yes while it was only a miscarriage, they still lost a child. I have a friend who lost her son 7 years ago, and she still takes a week off of work around the time he died (and she has two healthy children). So, i understand still being upset/depressed over a miscarriage. It effects everyone differently.

I guess I'm not seeing it the same way.
They were up late because they were cleaning and Katie found the tests in a closet and they had an emotional moment then decided to share it on YT. They didn't randomly plan to do a livestream at midnight. It just organically happened.
I think they are just messy people in general and they are trying to change. Good for them. Maybe they will stick with it- maybe not. It's their life, their clutter and it is not affecting anyone else. I honestly do not understand why there have been pages of clutter talk.
And if they read here- so what? Maybe they take what they read here to positively make some changes in their life. To say that they shouldn't read here and that you are not sharing your thoughts here with you tubers is just obtuse. Anyone can read this board. Including you tubers.
Maybe some counseling would help Katie. But I've never had a miscarriage. And I can't judge someone's feelings surrounding that event and I never would. Even four years later. I think it was a perfectly healthy cry session and conversation in my opinion.
I'm bad at communicating my thoughts into words and don't normally defend you tubers this much but the psychological analyzing here is just insane to me.

There's pages of clutter talk because there's been days of vlogs from Cullen and Katie talking about and dealing with it. This board (this whole forum) discusses vlogs in chronological order of their are upload.
What else is there to talk about in their seven days plus worth of vlogs other than them openly showing/complaining/getting stressed out about, other than this precise topic?

Re: Cullen and Katie: House Woes Part #9
We're discussing grief and depression because Katie and Cullen discussed grief and depression at length in an hour-long video. It's not psychoanalyzing in my opinion if they chose to share these things and people react. We're also discussing housekeeping and organization because it's been a main topic of the vlog and Katie was discussing it on social media. None of this is coming from out of the blue, it's all coming directly from their channel. So I'm not sure why people think it's off topic?
Re: Cullen and Katie: House Woes Part #9
I only watched 10/20 minutes of the livestream when I noticed they had started it.
Honestly I think they are exhausted because they aren't used to have deadlines and the stress it's really affecting them. Katie's sister has taken care of Gaines for two days in a row and I'm sure Grandolly and Grandberry would help them if they asked.
There are a few things that they connect with having miscarriages, Cullen even said that now that they have a kid (Gaines) they didn't care how their house looked which I get but it seems like an answer that I would get from a teenager who doesn't want to clean up their room and not two STAP who have been doing YouTube full-time for 2 or 3 years.
Also it's really annoying how they use Gaines as an excuse for not giving enough attention to Brooks.
Cullen also said that it's really tiring doing YouTube and they "see what they do to themselves".
I felt like they were justifying why they have clutter and their eating habits. I thought that why would you want to livestream your wife while she was crying, Katie's sadness was palpable.
I get that seeing what they should share on their vlogs it's really hard, if you share something it can make people connect with you and understand why they act a certain way but at the same time it can be hard to say "hey, we're keeping this to ourselves, we don't have to excuse our behavior all the time"

I get what you mean. They couldn't even share a hug in the kitchen without pulling up the footage on the Nest, setting it to music, and sharing it on the live stream. It's a very strange way to live your life.Nini12 wrote:I only watched 10/20 minutes of the livestream when I noticed they had started it.
