Cullen and Katie: House Woes Part #9
Re: Cullen and Katie: House Woes Part #9
I agree the title was super clickbait. It seems like the whole crew (DBEJCK) has been doing that a lot lately. It's completely annoying.

Wow-- full on breakfast of bacon, eggs, hash browns, _and_ a strawberry crepe? No wonder Cullen has that dad gut! Yeah, I am being mean, but that's just ridiculous. If he ate it all, it's getting gluttonous, and if not, it's wasteful...

Cullen's meal was over 1100 calories and 68g of fat. That's not including anything he might have had to drink with it. Katie's meal wasn't much better. That omelette has 800 calories and 68g of fat. They had pancakes too which are 310 calories plus another 14g of fat. What's really bad is that they're training Gaines to eat the same way. The kid had grits, bacon, and mac & cheese for breakfast. I know she didn't eat it all, but that meal is over 500 calories. Those mostly empty calories.

And MG was telling them she was going to eat mac and cheese and Kelly and Jay's house for dinner. I know they've said she is a picky eater, but mac and cheese for every meal is not ok.
They need to be better examples to their kids in their eating habits. They're usually sitting at the table when the kids eat, but we rarely see them eating as a family unless their out at a restaurant. They feed MG dinner super late sometimes, and oftentimes they show themselves not cooking dinner for the two of them until as late as 10pm. That is not healthy.
Hopefully once they move they will start cooking more at home.

I know and i feel awful for saying this because MG is an adorable little girl but she has an "ugly" cry and it annoys me just a little lol. It makes me NOT want to click on the vlog.

I am sure Katie appreciates her sister and mom who were very nice to help celebrate her birthday. They both seem like nice ladies.[/quote]
I have actually met all of them but Jay and they are all very nice people. They are really not different from the vlogs like most vloggers are.

The Lego has to be a product placement. Cullen thanked them for sending it. They've been sending lego to so many vloggers. It won't be long until Bonnie, Joel, Ellie and Jared start the lego fad in Utah land. We all know Missy and Bryan aren't into Legos. They're into freebies and being paid for endorsing a product.

Plus, she could have eaten the stuffing out of the bell peppers. When we went to other people's houses for dinner, the kids ate what they served. I know it's her aunt, but it's kinda rude to expect a special meal just for MG. Sister or not, you're still guests in their home, and your kid should at least try it.askeptichere wrote:And MG was telling them she was going to eat mac and cheese and Kelly and Jay's house for dinner. And ordering mac and cheese _and_ grits, _and_ bacon for a two year old really is wasteful. Two year olds have tiny stomachs.
Even when she was at Grand Dolly's she wasn't eating everything. I didn't understand why she kept fixing her more food when there was still food on her plate. Grand Dolly was saying "You were still hungry, so I fixed this, and you were still hungry, and ate that". How about eating what is on your plate before I fix something else? I'm not talking about making them clean their plates because that's not healthy either, just eat what is there before I fix something else. It was like she told Grand Dolly she wanted things, and she just fixed them. But being at Grandma's house is special, so maybe that's the deal.

When she started BLW, she was eating bell peppers. It seems like all of the healthy habits they started with her were thrown out the window.

I did see that she wanted ice cream and went for the ice cream bowl and grand dolly said that they have to wait forater and get dressed. Maybe where she's the grandparent she likes to spoil her grandkids, you know how some grand parents do anything as a little spoil for their grandkids.lmmomSD wrote:Plus, she could have eaten the stuffing out of the bell peppers. I wouldn't look at her being at Grand Dolly's house as special since she goes once or twice a week.lmmomSD wrote:Plus, she could have eaten the stuffing out of the bell peppers. Their diet is just as bad as the lumps and Gaines is gonna end up just as bad as Ollie with the pickiness.

Have you seen the lumps vlogs the last few weeks? They obsessed with Legos. I swear they mention them in nearly every single vlog. The sad part? It's not the boys playing with them, it's missy!

Re: Cullen and Katie: House Woes Part #9
I would love to hear an update from Katie on BLW with Gaines. I don't mean this in a condescending way, but isn't the main point of BLW to get the baby used to different foods and textures to avoid the whole "picky eater" problem? I feel like Katie would always make it a point to say how good Gaines was with fruits and veggies and, if I'm remembering correctly, the only thing she didn't like was meats. I wonder if having Brooks has lead to the bad habit of making Gaines the easiest/fastest thing possible, which has lead to her becoming accustomed to getting mac and cheese and grits, and them not wanting to put in the energy to fight her on it?
I like them a lot, don't get me wrong, but I'd love to hear what Katie has to say on the issue.

I don't think Brooks is the reason. There isn't a ton of prep that goes into offering her mostly fruits and veggies. I think they eat a lot of boxed and processed foods. Gaines is eating what they eat.

That's the annoying part. There is no reason why Ollie can't sit there and help Missy. He can find the right colours, or the right sizes. What a great opportunity to spend some time together, have a little fun and teach him a little something!Pamerfish wrote:Have you seen the lumps vlogs the last few weeks? They obsessed with Legos. I wouldn't mind seeing someone with actual children get the Legos for once. 8 Passengers or Bonnie and Joel. I'm sure Joel would sit and build WITH the kids and not just alone. Missy is just looking for any excuse to check out of her miserable life.

Re: Cullen and Katie: House Woes Part #9
I know they try to 'feed Gaines up' because she is such an itty bitty thing which is a silly perspective to have imo. It's interesting Gaines's build is so slight (she resembles Pippy Long Stocking with her long legs) given how her parents look but it seems obvious Cullen and Katie's weight is mostly down to diet and lack of exercise and less likely genetics.Lovethesnark wrote:Cullen's meal was over 1100 calories and 68g of fat. It would be interesting to see Gaines, weight and health wise, twenty five to thirty years from now and if she's managed to create a more healthy, balanced and varied diet for both herself and any children she may have, because it seems her parent aren't the ones implementing it, either for themselves or for their children. Are they just completely uneducated, in denial or just don't care? Katie clearly does care though because she brought it up in one of her recent KOTFS vlogs. So weird how someone with a PHD can be so uninformed (if she is) in such another more basic yet important area, especially when you have kids.

I think they know they eat like crap. I mean they seemed to have gone to IHOP just last week or so since I remember wondering how many calories in a cheeseburger omelet lol breaking bad eating habits is HARD but not impossible. You just gotta set your mind and work hard. When you fall off you get back on. Not sure they are anywhere near there yet....hopefully soon so that they can lead long healthy lives with their kids!

I hate cooking and made just the basics for my kids. We avoided artificial coloring, flavoring, and preservatives because the hyped up my son. My kids are all adults in their 20's. They eat right. They were all active all their lives and do not have weight issues. I would love to see C&K be more active. I use a Fitbit to count my steps in a year of using one I am running 6 miles a day. They are 20 years younger they certainly could get moving

Re: Cullen and Katie: House Woes Part #9
In regards to BLW, with both MG and Brooks they started out with veggies, fruit, and more healthy food but then as soon as the kids got the hang of it, they would eat what the parents ate... which is mostly processed crap. Brooks has been doing BLW for what? A little over a month? And in a recent video Katie mentioned that he ate an entire cereal bar for breakfast. I'm sure grits and mac and cheese aren't too far behind for him.
Luckily they keep their kids active. Hopefully they grow up and expand their palate with C&K's help.
