YTMD Pet Peeves

For E+J really don't see Calvin as delayed developmentally, maybe because my daughter is the same age. He's not even two yet, a month in toddler world is a long time, he is developing just fine (motor and cognitive). Sometimes I wonder if the people who call these YT kids delayed are actually mothers? Not wondering in a judgemental way but I just remember reading and commenting on these boards before having my first, and I really had no idea about development. And I think it's easy to forget when your child is past the toddler stage. Before my first I thought every kid was delayed except for Macey Gaines lmao and then I realize that MG is very advanced. Idk I'm rambling but I just don't see the "delays" everyone else sees and it makes me feel like I'm the crazy one lol

I agree. I don't think he's delayed or "special." I think he's annoying, off-putting and spoiled just like his mother.

Lol she's not advanced. Like, at all. She's exactly where she should be. If she's advanced, then my three are geniuses, because she's actually behind where all mine were at her age. My youngest and oldest could sight read their alphabet at 17 months, and I still wouldn't peg them as "advanced", just bright.

I think MG is a bright kid, but she's exactly where she should be at her age.

I'm not calling her a genius, just advanced as in ahead of the typical milestone chart. I haven't watched her in ages, last time I watched she was 18 or 24 months with the vocab of a 3 year old according to her wellness visit. (Had 200-300 words and small sentences). Just in compared to say an average kid who has 20 words at 18 months (which is normal too), she seems pretty advanced.

I don't know why some users come on a gossip site to constantly defend youtubers, especially some in the Jesssfam thread. While some things we discuss may be reaching at times, I don't know how they can always defend Jess.

Gossip doesn't mean trash talk. Some people just want to gab about the yters they like. The Cullen and Katie thread is mainly positive. There's nothing in the rules that say you must hate and shit talk the yters in order to participate.

I don't really want to call this a pet peeve, but I guess I'm just curious why there is so much more discussion on Bonnie and Ellie's thread than Ruby's. I feel like Ruby's vlogs provide A LOT of fodder for very interesting discussion/debate... I'm pretty new here so there's probably a reason for this that I just don't know about. Thanks!

I'm so tired of people speculating about sponsorships, as if every big company cares about no name youtubers with a bunch of kid and mommy viewers. It's not something we'll ever know for sure either way, so I'm just tired of seeing all the discussion on it.

It's pretty easy to tell when something is sponsored because the YTers act like it's the best thing ever, mentioning it gratuitously and out of the blue, and then drop it like a hot potato once the sponsorship period is over.

With vloggers almost everything does have the potential to be a tax deduction. House, car, office supplies, new cameras, anything required to create content for the videos. I think the biggest problem with YTMD is a lot of people don't understand what a tax deduction is. It doesn't mean the YTer gets back ALL the money they paid, essentially getting the item for free once tax time comes, it just means they pay less in taxes than they would if they couldn't write it off.

My ultimate pet peeve has got to be the chorus of "hiii, X youtuber!" that ensues whenever something appears in the vlog that might have been touched upon in the thread. Sure, it happens every now and then, but nowhere near as often as it is reported here. People can be so naive and small-minded and it drives me nuts.
