Aren't the cabinets all white? I didn't think the kitchen looked that bad. Except for the dated appliances.

I actually don't think the house is that bad. Yes, there are a lot of cosmetic things they can fix...but that can happen over years. Plus, who knows, they could do a sponsorship/brand deal with Lowe's or Home Depot, etc.

Personally, I think Katie's parents help them out financially a lot!! I think Katie and Cullen seem frugal day-to-day living off their YT income, but her parents are happy to write the big checks to help with things like their new car and this house. The grandparents probably like the idea of all the grandkids growing up as neighbors - and it's supposedly a top school district.

I agree. The home doesn't seem drastically outdated to me. Overall it's not my style, but I'm not living there so it doesn't matter. And the entire home is functional so they don't need to do updates until they want to. I've also grown to learn that not all of our homes need to look like they came out of a magazine. We all have different styles and preferences and it doesn't matter if it's the current trend or not. Of course you want your house to retain resale value, but beyond that, you should decorate your house the way it suits you.

The kitchen wouldn't be so bad in a cheaper house, but this is one of the more expensive homes in the neighborhood it seems. Aside from Kelley and Jay's house, the other homes have been renovated and are less expensive. The neighborhood doesn't seem to be exclusive. There are several homes up for sale and they aren't moving fast. It doesn't seem to be worth the money. Even Kelley and Jay seem to have overpaid for their house.

I found the house just now using the "catfish method" and the pic someone posted in the last thread. The house is beautiful to me. I would live there I'm jealous, my house is tiny compared to that one. I was expecting it to look horrible from the replies here. Yes new paint, fixtures, and appliances are needed but overall it looks fine. If that is the style that they like let them have it. Everyone has different tastes. The house reminds me of my parents with the crown moldings, a beautiful southern home. I can't wait to see what they do with the space.

I've looked at a few and I've seen a few with similar fixtures (seems gold is popular)
C&K never really said which house it was besides it wasn't the one that had water
they looked at a few that we never saw, they could surprise us and its a completely different house..
where all just speculating which house it could be????

I love all this house talk! I've always been super into real estate and interested in the prices & styles of homes in different areas. I actually really like CK new house based on the pictures and I think the updates will come with time - or maybe that's how they like it! I personally don't like really modern-looking homes, and prefer some with a bit of an older or with more "character" than you might find in newer builds. Although I think updates can be done to the master bath and kitchen, I think the home has a nice charm that you might not be able to find everywhere. I certainly don't think it's a bad investment on their part by any means.
I also think the prices of homes where they live is crazy - crazy GOOD!! I wish that they were the same where I live. Where I am, their original house would probably go for somewere around 500k, and this new one well over 1M. I wish I got that much bang for my buck - here I am trying to save up for a starter home in a decent area and the prices are only getting worse.

I think some of us may have the wrong house.

I looked with the few clues we have (and I don't know where K&J's house is so I couldn't use that as a reference) and I found one that is soooo ugly. The master bath is horrendous and the kitchen pitiful. While it fit a lot of the criteria we know for where their house is I couldn't figure out where the shower we saw in the vlog was. And the basement looked different. And the pricing history didn't match what people were talking about here.

So I started over and then I am pretty sure I found it. Way different location. I can totally see the shower in the master bathroom. This one does seem to me to just need cosmetic upgrades.

So I'm pretty sure some of is have the right house. And probably some have the wrong one.

We will know soon enough. I'm excited to see it in the vlog and see how the decorate.

I hope it doesn't take them ages.

I thought we could do it through PM. Not arguing, just double checking. I know we're not supposed to post it here so creepy people can't just log in and find them, but a PM from a long time user seems OK to me. If that's wrong, I would like to know.

You're right they could be trolling us all, and didn't buy the house they showed, the one where they filmed themselves in the shower. But if they did then it is the one that sold for 640k last year, which people can find by selecting sold listings in hoover on zillow..... that house has the exact same walk through shower, with two gold shower doors opposite of each other and the same very yellow wood floors.

You could be right. We definitely aren't allowed allowed to share publicly, and I guess I just assumed that extended to PMs as well.

And for the person who asked, I can't point you to a specific written rule, but it's come up on this site many times. Every time a vlogger moves a mod has to come in and shut shit down. I'm sure you can PM a mod if you'd like specifcs.

Seriously?? Did you not just read all the talk about how no one is supposed to be putting the link here or in PM's?? Either find it yourself or wait until they show it on the vlog. It's not that hard to find, seriously. And people (especially people that regulars haven't ever seen here before.) coming out of the woodwork eating their new address is creepy and uncalled for.

I agree that newbies coming out like crazy asking for the link is pretty ridiculous. I did PM someone to ask, but it was someone I had had conversations with before. Every time a vlogger moves, unless they build, people go nuts. I love looking at houses, and imagining what I would do with them. But it does get creepy when there's page after page of "please PM me a link" from people we've never seen post before.

The irony is a "newbie" is the one who found where the house was and without this initial information, I doubt any of us would have found it. It was her first time posting here and I am still shocked how she found this house.

Is this as simple as anyone can turn off receiving messages or PM for those who have been contacted about the link more than they wish? I looked at the board rules which are vague and didn't see anything specific on PM etc. But some of this comes down to common sense too.

I think we are respect where they live or their family privacy and wouldn't think to intruded on their daily life. I believe this has been a curiosity of what they bought, but I think we all recognize Cullen and Katie are essentially strangers. YouTube is a strange world where you garner views on buying a house, having a baby, going on a vacation...the list goes on. I find it entertaining on how this group makes a living and my favorite part has been the house purchases.

Really. I think a GoPro which wasn't sponsor wasn't too bad. It is several hundred dollar prize and it doesn't surprise me that a YouTuber gives away a camera like we've seen before?
