GrandBerry has a beautiful open plan home. She's done some upgrades and I don't recall seeing it since. I can't imagine what she's done with it as it was lovely to begin with in my opinion.Ceirsten8676 wrote:The house is gorgeous! I love it! I think it fits their style and their family perfectly. I think people forget that they didn't grow up in Utah where you have houses like Ellie's mom's and E&J's cold stoic house where you're not allowed to touch Ellie's precious furniture. This house resembles Katie's parents and Kelley and Jay's. I don't think we've seen Grandberry's house? But you tend to get your tastes and styles from your upbringing which is why Katie chose this kind of house. I think once they update and change some things and put their own touch on it, it will be a beautiful home! It even looks better already without the old people furniture.

I imagine once they have furnishings the echo will no longer be a problem.lmmomSD wrote:I just hope they don't get crazy with the paint colors.
Question for those of you more familiar with big rooms and high ceilings: once they get area rugs and furniture, are the echoes going to go away? Is it just echoing so badly because the house is empty? Sorry if that is a dumb question.

I like Cullen in the stream, he had been drinking wine a little, seemed relaxed and more himself. I hope he will be more like this in the vlogs.

I happened to watch the stream too and while I imagine everyone had some wine, Cullen was punch drunk too. I'm assured that Cullen and Katie won't change just because they have their new home. It was funny watching Cullen and Jay just getting along with each othsr.

Re: Cullen and katie : Moving On Up. Part #10
The entire subdivision is 75 acres not their house!! They have virtually no backyard. It's a tiny strip of land with a line of trees leading to the golf cart walkway. What were they thinking? First of all the house is very dated. Built in 1989 the electric, plumbing, a/c and heating systems will all need to be replaced at some point unless that was all done before they purchased it. To spend $640,000 on a home with hardly any land, no swimming pool and not kid friendly seems like an impulsive move just so they can be on the same street as Kelly and Jay. If they weren't so naive they would have done their homework before rushing to by this old house. If they are from "old money", had more patience and could afford to spend over $600,000 they should have bought a great piece of land and built the perfect home for them. Everyone keeps saying how this house has "great bones" lol...but the bones are old and rattling...windows stuck, kitchen (fridge location and locker room storage cabinets) and bathrooms out of an old movie and those screened in porches look worn, run down and not very inviting. I don't think they were really thinking about the kids growing up and not just being babies as that house without a large yard seems claustrophobic, dark and boxy. Do they honestly think Gaines and Brooks will stay little and be happy just staying indoors all day? Both parents are out of shape and seem to enjoy just lounging around the house all day but children need activity and exercise. I don't think they realize what they have taken on. They will spend all their time in the coming years fixing and remodeling one thing after another as well as struggling to maintain order and cleanliness in so many rooms. They also need to get an exterminator...dead mice already in view!!lmmomSD wrote:Where does that 75 acre lot come from? Makes no sense to me. Does it include the golf course? There's no way they have 75 acres.
Zillow says it has a 2500 SF basement, and then it says it has a "floor space" of 5275 SF. I don't know if it's that big, but it certainly seems bigger than 2600 SF! So, I don't know what they're thinking. I mean, the house we built was 2300, and it was 4 normal size bedrooms and 2.5 baths with a study and an open floor plan, with the kitchen, dining and living rooms all open to each other. Only bringing my place up for comparison's sake.
I don't get that 75 acres at all.

I tried editing my above post but don't see an option to edit! I meant to say their property is 0.75 (3/4 of an acre) NOT 75 acres...they left out the zero in the listing!!

Re: Cullen and katie : Moving On Up. Part #10
I think that the house is spacious and beautiful, but there are plenty of downsides. First of all, there's barely any yard and I can't imagine why anyone would want golfers traipsing near their property all of the time. The ground looks pretty uneven, so it will be harder to play out there, and with no fence for the kids or the dogs. Like others have said, the AC, windows, plumbing, etc will need to be updated soon if they haven't been already, and it's going to cost them a small fortune to cool it in the summer. They said that the screened in porches were a deciding factor, but you can add on a screened in porch for much cheaper than you can remodel a kitchen and two bathrooms.
So while I think it's a large and very nice home with plenty of great features, I don't see what sold them on it over the similar properties on the market.

Re: Cullen and katie : Moving On Up. Part #10
Nice catch to the person who mentioned about the growing family! I watched the live stream and Cullen mentions something about Katie at the end but it cuts off :/ He also said they will be adding steps from the master balcony to the backyard for a future hot tub.
And I think J&K along with C&K both moved way too quick. J&K bought a house in the same development, a road down basically from their old one. They must love that neighborhood!

Watched a chunks of their live stream... more like Cullen drunk stream at 2am. He made a remark that Kelly and Jay had a half hour drive home. It drives me crazy that he so easily lies on the fly. Yes I get that it may be to protect their location or whatever, but when he just pulls lies out of his ass so quickly it makes you wonder how much he actually lies that we don't pick up on. People that do that are some of the worst in my book. Also, I like Cullen, and I like Jay, but when they get together it's so obnoxious to watch. Maybe it's more of "it's funny if you're there" kind of things. But as an adult watching from the outside I just roll my eyes.

Re: Cullen and katie : Moving On Up. Part #10
I could see Katie's sister at her door at 6 a.m. saying it is time for our power walk. I actually think Kelly could have a good influence on them with eating and exercise. On the other subject, I think the fact the house has had so little updates leads me to think that items you listed like will need replacing (not cheap) and and this is where I believe they've may have paid too much for this house. They are close to the cart path/fairway (noisy, golf balls in the yard) which is what I would expect and this is not a family type neighborhood so the backyard isn't going to be easy for kids to play outside like you said. I was thinking they negotiated a much lower price due to all these house issues, but it doesn't seem the sellers went down that much. At the same time, they've had a idea what it is like to live on a golf course from her sister and brother-in-law. Maybe there is something we are missing living in this area? And perhaps they are all going to learn to play golf or tennis which would be something their kids could do in the future too. This would change their sitting around lifestyle to more active.nc_mom wrote:The entire subdivision is 75 acres not their house!! They have virtually no backyard. I do agree with the idea of building. I know some have had some negative experiences, but most times things go well and you do get close to what you want with building. New homes today do have advantages and I posted links to homes that were beautiful. Personally, living in such a warm area, I think losing the pool was a negative and it will be an additional cost to swim at the club. I get the maintenance, but they are both home and do have the time to clean the pool as well as you see a lot of YouTubers pool footage. Did I hear something about a hot tub?
Where did you see the dead mouse. Their cats will be busy if that is the case.

Re: Cullen and katie : Moving On Up. Part #10
I watched the stream. Cullen was obviously being sarcastic when he said they had a half an hour drive home. And he cut the video off intentionally as he said "we have something to tell you, Katie is..." he actually said he was gonna do it right before he said it.
I think these two are very genuine, or, as genuine as you can be when you have half a million people watching your everyday lives, and your peers/business competition are people like Bryan and Missy, and Ellie and Jared.
I would love, love, love for these guys to form a friendship with Bonnie & Joel, and for them to visit C&K on their own (meaning NO ELLIE!)
I think the vlogs would be a lot of fun because both couples seem to be on a similar level.

Re: Cullen and katie : Moving On Up. Part #10
So I guess Kelley came in and took over the organizing of the kitchen and Katie got mad at first?
THOSE are the types of things you deal with when living so close to other family members - boundaries. I'd be pissed if my sister came in and took over organizing my new kitchen. IMO, Katie didn't seem to be drinking so maybe she IS pregnant?

Yes, Zillow is the only site that seems to have the larger square footage. I'm not saying the house is 2600 sq ft, just trying to explain why people may think that. It is waaaay bigger than that for sure.onbreak wrote:I was on zillow. It's the listing from me the previous realtorstaceyeileen wrote:No, really, it says 2627. I sometimes wonder if Jay needs to balance his professional image with his YouTube image? Generally, I think these two guys are pretty funny and it was interesting to see how many outside the US were following them on their livestream.askeptichere wrote:Watched a chunks of their live stream... more like Cullen drunk stream at 2am. Being YouTube is an entertainment forum and we don't know Cullen in real life, it would be difficult to determine if they easily lie. I don't think the remark was necessary, but I am sure Cullen said it to protect their location which I don't get since it would be nice to say they were neighbors.
Re: Cullen and katie : Moving On Up. Part #10
Here's another issue I don't think has been addressed yet. The dogs! Their old house had a fenced in yard. They would open the kitchen door and the dogs would run down the stairs from the back deck to relieve themselves. I think one of the reasons they didn't hang out much in the backyard was because it was full of dog poop. What will they do in the new house? Their backyard is not fenced and is open to the golfers and golf course. How can they just let the dogs out to poop? They are no longer fenced in for security. Will they actually have to put the dogs on leashes, walk them and carry clean up poop bags now? With their lazy habits I don't see them doing that. So what is the plan for the dogs? I still can't get my head around the fact that they spent a fortune on a new property without a fenced in yard knowing they have children and pets!

I agree there can be issues living this close. Katie is the younger sister so it fits Kelly took over lol. I will preference this I am an oldest.auntasaurus19 wrote:So I guess Kelley came in and took over the organizing of the kitchen and Katie got mad at first?

It would be nice if she was pregnant and if she is, I wish to thank her for not doing DPO or early pregnancy symptoms vlogging.

I wonder if they just decided to let it happen naturally and not use any form of protection after Brooks. She is in her 30s now. If she wants a big family, it needs to happen fast. If she is pregnant and Ellie doesn't get pregnant she is going to be so jealous. I wonder if missy, Ellie, and Katie are all pregnant at the same time.

Gonna predict they will do a big "meet our new neighbors" vlog and it will be Jay and Kelley.tratra58 wrote:I sometimes wonder if Jay needs to balance his professional image with his YouTube image?
