Re: Sam and Nia: Our Viral Addiction (Part 4)
I truly don't understand how Symphony can miss so much school. We homeschool and my son is in the same grade as Symphony. We're in a very "hands off" state for homeschooling (we don't have to report what we're doing or keep up with a certain curriculum). My son is a couple grade levels ahead in math and reading, and at this age I am pretty relaxed about schoolwork, but we STILL do more school days than this family. The one trip we took this school year (essentially taking the week off of schooling) was still really educational and involved things like seeing a theatre production, going to a zoo, and going to a children's museum. Yes, the Rader children get to experience new things and I think any type of travel is educational, but it's a still a lot of time away from school.
Most of the parents I am friends with do not homeschool, and they would never take that much time off. Especially because it's (usually) a total pain in the ass when your kid misses school because of all of the makeup work (even if your kid just misses a few days for being sick). Even the families who travel a lot tend to take more "couples trips" and have family watch their kids so they are still going to school. Symphony's school must be way different, or they just don't care if she misses and don't have her do the makeup work or something.
I hope a lot of these kids grow up and either write books or are part of a big documentary or something about being the children of youtubers. I said that in an E&J post because it's all so odd and unhealthy to me. Talking to an "audience" and having little kids talk to viewers as if they are in front of them when they are really just looking at a camera lens. It's an interesting childhood for sure. For the parents, it's a very inauthentic way of living, and that has to trickle down to the children. The lack of privacy is concerning as well. I'm thankful I grew up before social media was a thing, that's bad enough! But to have parents vlogging every detail of your life? I'm glad there are no videos on the internet of me potty training.

I'm not a New Yorker, but I do have family in the northeast so I've been exposed to some of it. There's just some things in the northeast that you don't get outside of it. It just pisses me off that this family, once again, didn't really even experience New York. From what I can tell, they ate at chain food restaurants and did not venture very far into the city aside from their trip to the statue of liberty. Why go, then? It sounds like the most boring NYC trip of all time.

Re: Sam and Nia: Our Viral Addiction (Part 4)
So Nia basically took care of Juliet the entire day, and they even showed her disgusting poop explosion (which Nia cleaned up....ofcourse) and what does Sam say? "Don't worry...Daddy's here" like give me a F-ing break already! This guy is so horrible at bonding with his kids, Abram found a dirty bandaid in the sand and he didn't even clean his hands after? They only go to places he wants to go. Nia sitting on the floor at the airport lounge feeding Juliet was just the most frustrating thing ever - like give her a break already and watch the kids for 5 minutes!!
Re: Sam and Nia: Our Viral Addiction (Part 4)
Nia has another handy hint for good parenting! Stranded in an airport for 2 hrs? Let your kids run free! Damn, she actually advised that. Doofus Sam rides on the baggage carousel...again. Nia is featured changing a poopy diaper on the plane seats. Nice!
Ok, snarkiness aside, they really need to take Abram to a speech therapist.

Ref Abram, thank you! He's what, coming up 3 yrs and 8 months, only a couple of months younger than Ollie from Daily Bumps. Abram's speech is literally inaudible most of the time. It's almost like he's regressed and neither of his parents have even noticed, let alone addressed or gotten help for it. I just went back and checked a video from a week after Juliet was born, eleven freaking months ago, and his speech has barely progressed in almost a year.JLPC wrote:Nia has another handy hint for good parenting! Everytime he baby talks Sam just repeats it back to him because he thinks it's cute and funny!! I literally cringe every timeScar2016 wrote:Ref Abram, thank you! Nia does everything all day long and all Sam does is his read their bible story and Nia stares at everyone like she has this perfect family and marriage....does anybody want to smack some sense into this girl already? Why didn't Sam vacuum up the car while he was looking for the tooth? Clearly that thing hasn't been cleaned since they bought it!!
Re: Sam and Nia: Our Viral Addiction (Part 4)
I'm just happy Symphony didn't start bawling over her tooth this time...and you guys are totally right about Abram's speech. I never noticed until I read it here, but you really can't understand him half the timebrownprincess93 wrote:Nia does everything all day long and all Sam does is his read their bible story and Nia stares at everyone like she has this perfect family and marriage....does anybody want to smack some sense into this girl already? Re: Sam and Nia: Our Viral Addiction (Part 4)
Here's the thing. He actually DID find the tooth in the car. In the video description it says something like "can you help find Symphony's tooth? I bet you can!" A couple of comments said it was at 3:44. So, Sam telling Symphony too bad-so sad, I couldn't find your tooth was a "joke". Hilarious (eyeroll).

Don't get me wrong I LOVE my students but I've gotten use to the way they talk and they've gotten ALOT better with me reminding them to use their wordsJLPC wrote:I'm able too but only because I work at a preschool and can speak whinese but half the time Sam doesn't even know what he's saying..smileyfacekimmie wrote:E_8 wrote: I'm just happy Symphony didn't start bawling over her tooth this time...and you guys are totally right about Abram's speech. I suck at quoting just one person, can't figure it out. So this is to the whinese speaker lol
Yes!! haha I worked in a preschool and then kdg/1st grade and not only did I learn to understand them when they spoke but also when they spelled things.
I was grading papers and my roommate at the time asked me how I knew what it said and I couldn't explain except that you get use to it and get use to how each kid writes and talks.
I've only watched a few of their vlogs in the last 3 weeks. Of course the one I clicked on was crazy Sam at the fair and had to skip most of it. I don't think I've seen one since then. I saw this boy on Ellen a couple weeks ago, he was 12 I think and the kid reminded me of Abram. Something about him looked pretty similar (IMO) to Abram, although maybe I'm just seeing things. Does anyone know the kid I'm talking about?

Yes! The 12 year old singer who likes to wear make-up, right? He really does look like Abram.tmarieme wrote:I suck at quoting just one person, can't figure it out. So this is to the whinese speaker lol

Has anyone mentioned or saw the viral video going around FB of the mashup of Great Dads? It has Sam and Symphony on it when she was crying at the airport and came back for a hug. All the other Dads in the video were not recording themselves being "great Dads" of course except Sam. If they only knew she cried over everything and how he blatantly favors Abram over her and is one of the most non helpful Father's I have ever seen that truly seems to stick to the Father Knows Best days. Kids are woman's work don't ya know? Men get to quit their jobs, piddle around the house, nap, go on adventures and leave the wife and home to do the dishes.

Sam always wants to be "famous" so he will do whatever it takes, even making his kids cry about every single stupid thing that is out there. These kids have one parent who is always filming their every move and encouraging them to do outrageous things for the camera - then the other parent is constantly going crazy and excited because they opened the door or took a bite out of an apple!

Re: Sam and Nia: Our Viral Addiction (Part 4)
Just wanted to say thanks to anyone that responded in reference to my question about Symphony still being in the stroller and the broader fact of them "babying" the kids. I do think the vlog has something to do with that, like it makes for better content in their minds. I often wonder while watching how much of an impact vlogging will have on their childhood. While they should probably have even more breaks, I at least wish if they only live streamed on Sunday as it is, that they'd leave the kids out to give them a true break, but I know that'd probably never happen. And you guys are totally right about Abram's speech. I feel like "not progressed" is the best case scenario; he really might have regressed. I too have noticed Sam repeating Abram'a baby talk, encouraging it as something cute for the vlog. *eye roll*
If one or more of the Rader kids (or even any kids of vlogging families) wrote a memoir later I would read it!
