OkBabiesRaisingBabies: Part 12
Re: OkBabiesRaisingBabies: Part 12
I'm so glad Kyra said they're getting an interior designer for the house. Because if the house they're getting is that GORGEOUS one they showed I would be so disappointed to see their tacky decor in it.
Re: OkBabiesRaisingBabies: Part 12
I wasn't listening close enough to the Younow so I could be wrong but it could just honestly be because her significant other and kids are... my mom always jokes about how she wishes she was Italian because my dad/his family are and therefore so are her children.juststardust wrote:And now on younow Kyra said that she secretly wishes she was Mexican... Why are some white girls so desperate to be from another culture lmao

Re: OkBabiesRaisingBabies: Part 12
she talked about her mom, they have a good relationship
she feels mexican, want her kids to know more about the culture that's why she really wants to go to mexico.
She said Oscar still vapes sometimes
talked about partying when she was younger. Someone asked if they smoke weed, she implied they used to but not anymore.

Re: OkBabiesRaisingBabies: Part 12
I mean, did you read my post before this one? She's said on multiple occasions that she's only into Hispanic guys and that Oscar being Hispanic was a "necessity" as well as an old tweet that has circulated around here about her saying that she needs a Hispanic guy in her life or something like that. If you think that that's just her innocently wanting to take part in the culture then you're clearly unaware of why this is an issue. She doesn't even know much about the traditions and didn't know at what age a quinceañera is celebrated but yep she totally has innocent intentions lmaosjla6993 wrote:I wasn't listening close enough to the Younow so I could be wrong but it could just honestly be because her significant other and kids are... my mom always jokes about how she wishes she was Italian because my dad/his family are and therefore so are her children.juststardust wrote:And now on younow Kyra said that she secretly wishes she was Mexican... To be fair, she talked about wanting Alaya to celebrate her quinceñera, she wasn't mocking it. She did forget the name of it tho.juststardust wrote:I mean, did you read my post before this one? But at least she's trying now, she didn't even care before, now she's talking about making her kids learn the culture and incorporate some mexican traditions into their lives. You gotta start somewhere
Re: OkBabiesRaisingBabies: Part 12
Tbh i think its nice she wants to learn more about the Mexican culture. Interracial relationships can be very difficult so im glad it doesnt seem like they clash much in that aspect. My marriage has many hurdles due to differences in culture and race. I personally like my culture and do not feel the need or want to "adopt" my husbands culture. Sometimes his fam wants me to dress or cook like them and im like nooo thanks. Im glad kyra and oscar dont have fights over culture like many others doytmamaviewer24 wrote:To be fair, she talked about wanting Alaya to celebrate her quinceñera, she wasn't mocking it. Kyra and Oscar are not in an interracial relationship, they are both white. Mexican/latino is not a race, it's a nationality/ethnicity.

You are right. Same with me and my husband, we are both Europeans but from a different country, therefore different cultures.
I do appreciate when he shows interest in my culture, and I do like learning and knowing about his.
I think its the same with Kyra...and I think it's a good thing that she's starting to show interest and respect for Mexican culture, let's remember she's not the smartest girl, it takes time for her and she does not get the things fast .

I don't think Oscar cares about his culture.

Re: OkBabiesRaisingBabies: Part 12
I didn't watch the Younow so I have no idea how her tone on this subject and I'm only going by what was posted here but maybe she is only attracted to Hispanic guys? Lots of people are attracted to certain races. On the subject of her wishing she were Mexican...I wonder if that has to do with growing up in such a diverse place like California? I live in Chicago and when I was in school not knowing Spanish was definitely the minority. I always wished I could fit in and understand what everyone was saying. Maybe this is too deep thinking for Kyra lol but it's just what I thought of after reading this post. If she wanted the Mexican culture she definitely got with the wrong guy. I started watching them regularly when Alaya was born and I have yet to hear Oscar say anything in Spanish to his kids.

This exactly, I've never heard him once bring up his culture, not in enough detail to seem interested in passing it on. Kyra's more interested then him and that's kind of sad.Nikolina wrote:I don't think Oscar cares about his culture.

Too bad they don't live in near Oscars parents. I'm sure that's the only way those kids could experience their culture. Have they ever even celebrated any Mexican holidays in their vlogs like Cinco De Mayo, Day of the dead, etc?yallstupid wrote:This exactly, I've never heard him once bring up his culture, not in enough detail to seem interested in passing it on. Re: OkBabiesRaisingBabies: Part 12
ofc they havent. oscar doesnt care at all..he said he wont be teaching levi and alaya spanish bc he cant speak it that well himself...that's pretty sad considering he grew up in mexico for a while and in a spanish speaking household. i never understood why parents wouldnt WANT their kids to be bilingual. i am so happy my parents taught me 2 other languages. It has helped tremendously with my cognition and the way i learn/think.Stellar wrote:Too bad they don't live in near Oscars parents. Re: OkBabiesRaisingBabies: Part 12
Well they aren't going to do it right by themselves, they have no friends there let alone ones who know about Mexican culture. The babysitter friend isn't gonna be much help in that department.Stellar wrote:Too bad they don't live in near Oscars parents. I'm sure that's the only way those kids could experience their culture. Re: OkBabiesRaisingBabies: Part 12
That isn't even a good excuse. He could still teach them simple words like hello and bye and how to count in Spanish. No point in trying to understand these two. Half the stuff they do makes no sense.soul_in_a_earthsuit wrote:ofc they havent. oscar doesnt care at all..he said he wont be teaching levi and alaya spanish bc he cant speak it that well himself...that's pretty sad considering he grew up in mexico for a while and in a spanish speaking household. i never understood why parents wouldnt WANT their kids to be bilingual. i am so happy my parents taught me 2 other languages. Oscar can speak Spanish he just doesn't want to. Don't really get it myself. He really isn't all that Hispanic in looks either. I swear his skin is whiter than snow lol.

Re: OkBabiesRaisingBabies: Part 12
Im Mexican and no one in Mexico celebrates cinco de mayo. Most of them think its silly that people in America do. I personally dont know any Mexicans who celebrate it either, aside from using it as an excuse to drink. Day of the dead is something that clashes with some religions so thats why many Mexicans dont celebrate it, like me. I have never known anyone to celebrate it personally. Mexican holidays that are celebrated are the day of independence and "el dia del niño" which is a day where you buy kids presents and toys and take them out to have fun aside from mothers day (its a different day than the American one)Stellar wrote:Too bad they don't live in near Oscars parents. I really didn't wanna sound stereotypical. I guess I failed lol. I was also gonna add Mexican Mother's Day since I just learned a lot of Mexican Americans celebrate that day in the U.S but Kyra isn't Mexican so no reason to mention itAnnavi04 wrote:Im Mexican and no one in Mexico celebrates cinco de mayo.
