Okay that was kind of snarky of me, I do apologize. It's been a day.

However I will say, I don't think he was hitting her in a mean way. He was excited. Also I will guarantee he was told to stop, as there is a cut and he's on the opposite side of the floaty.

I'm pretty sure we are all pretty clear and divided on our stance with Ollie and that's fine.

That's the thing that gets me. Why just not show that they discipline him? Let us see those parts too, so we can stop talking shit about you, B&M.
After all their bio says they daily vlog their lives up and downs, right?!

They have. On more than one occasion Missy can be heard in the background correcting him, but when it happens she's mocked here for "pretending" to discipline him.

I've been stung by a yellow jacket at 8 or 9 and it hurt a bit, but I dealt with it (especially bc it was at camp and when I tried to tell my counselor, she told me to go away because she was having the "accept Jesus" talk with another camper). For a 4 year old it's a little scary, just as all pain is for a 4 year old, but B&M hyped it up too much. Kids forget about pain in five minutes or less. They didn't have to keep bringing it up.

Also, the toy was inappropriate. I don't care if it was free or expensive. Pain is a part of life and you can't expect to get something when you get a boo boo. If Ollie grows up thinking you get things for pain or that big things help pain, that's going to be a problem. When we're grieving, heartbroken, horribly injured...are material things a band-aid or a cure? They're a band-aid. They make us happy and help for the time, but they don't make us better. A sucker or an ice cream or what have you is one thing, as it's a reasonable comfort. A big, expensive toy is going to start unhealthy patterns. Say they're still rich in 10-15 years. What's Ollie going to do when a girlfriend breaks up with him? Probably buy a freaking car or something. It's going to start a bad need for instant gratification.

I'm not saying this one incident is going to send him in a downward spiral, but wouldn't be surprised if they start giving him things after every scrape, boo boo, and sad moment.

Also, I don't think Ollie has autism. But I do think he is violent. And having my and other's opinions talked about like they're stupid or guaranteed false is a bit offensive...we don't know whether he'll be a brat or an angel in school. It's ok to think either thing, but let's not act like the people we don't agree with are idiots.
You're calling a 4 year old violent and a brat and you're offended because some people think your opinion is ridiculous?

She didn't say he _is_ a brat. She said we don't know if he's going to be a brat. And he _is_ violent. He hits everyone, and sits with a sword or gun in his hand even when he's just watching a movie.

During one of the DBCKEJ vacation vlogs Missy can be heard disciplining him and she was accused of pretending to discipline him because C&K were there.

Ok, so that's one example, and honestly, from the way they generally just laugh when he acts out, I can see how that would be the impression people have.
And on my last comment, I apologise. I should have read through before replying.
I personally think it's awful that the go-to reaction of a vlogger when their child is hurt is to grab the camera. DB does it, C&K do it, SlyFox, Bonnie-- it's awful. Makes me so angry. And the sad thing is, those vlogs get lots of views! So it just encourages people to continue. Sick.

I was thinking the same thing

Missy's latest instagram story has her asking Ollie if the bee sting or the shot (he went to the doctor) was worse He gets a cupcake for the shot, which I guess is ok (but I still think these kids are going to have zero life coping skills)...and then she asks if the cupcake makes it all better, and did he forget all about it. Well, he had - until she brought it up again.

I think what makes Ollies behavior stand out is that he gets aggressive (not violent) without being frustrated. Most kids his age and younger hit other kids because they get fustrated. They stole their toys or don't wanna play with them, so they resort to hitting because they weren't thaught ways to communicate fustration properly yet. That's normal and it does happen even if corrected.

But Ollie hits whenever he feels like it. Yes, maybe he did get exited when Jared came over (most likely) but it's definitely NOT normal to show excitement by slapping. That is aggressive.

My daughter was watching Carl and Jinger's vlog of the pool party. "OMG-- look at all the floaties! You guys are the BEST!" Suckup. But anyway, Missy, the one who is always trying to get someone else to carry Finn, was carrying June around pretty much non stop. I will never believe that if Finn had been a girl, he wouldn't be treated much differently than he is. It's so obvious.

Today around 8:40 you can see a custom license plate. LOL I cant see nor do I really care but how vain would it actually be?!
disclaimer: I dont care if anyone else has a custom license plate, if it's clever then Im all for it but if it's like this steroid-body-building-guy in a small car with "BIG BEN" as a license plate I'd consider lame lol.

I think it is rather weird when someone comes here and starts talking with this condescending tone. Obviously, what is acceptable child behavior varies from person to person, what you perceive normal is not necessarily the same as to what I perceive as "normal". Violent, aggressive, rough are all synonims... I get that some things here might get blown out of proportion, but if he hits someone- then he hits, if he spits-then he spits. We don't know if he does it intentionally or as you said, he does not know any better. ;)

jillvstheworld wrote:I want to preface that I don't watch B+M very often, and this is off-topic, but one of my favorite Youtubers attended the family vlogger panel that they and a few others were in and made a response video to some of the things she noticed. Needless to say, I think she hit the nail on the head, and a lot of what she says doesn't just apply to B+M but to pretty much every Youtube family on these forums. Here's the link if anyone's interested:
This was buried in the argument earlier and I find it fascinating because she not only feels family vlogging is tired (like many of us have said), but she picks up on how fake it is, and how boring and desperate YTers are.

He does it intentionally because he is angry and want to hit that person but he thinks it's acceptable behaviour..
and even tho it's 100% his parents fault it's still makes him look aggressive/violent or whatever you call it because HE is the doing it

Like that one time i think when jared was stopping him to touch something hot NO WAY almost 4 year hold should hit adult like that... it's not acceptable neither is normal for almost 4 year old child to behave like that. Obv that's just spoilness that makes him act this way but it's how he is... it's sad but true and it's not normal neither acceptable... if he was 2 yeah, almost 4? no way :-)

And sorry if ANY almost 4 year old HITS ppl because he gets excited that would suggest some issues somewhere..

Also someone pointed that little kids usually hits ppl when frustrated but he is not frustrated he gets plain annoyed.. almost 4 year old is old enough to understand when he gets told something and yeah thet will grump to themselves but won't result in hitting others.. :-)

Also pls note loads of us here are not English so don't pick on one word out of context please. When we say or agree he is violent we know we are talking about small child and not some grown up extra violent abuser but its kinda the best word to describe his behaviour even if it's not his fault. Just read in context. Thank you :-) x
