No, there's nothing wrong with it. But Missy's obsession with having a daughter goes beyond that. She has this fantasy little girl in her head that's going to be her best friend, just like she's best friends with her mom, and wear pink and have tea parties. She doesn't even take into account that this child might be a tomboy. She said once that she wanted a daughter to be her best friend "just like I am with my mom". That doesn't sound accepting of any kind of relationship other than best friends. Her disappointment at Finn's gender reveal was palpable. She doesn't just "want a girl after having all boys". She was even disappointed that Gabriel wasn't a girl. She wrote about it in her blog. She didn't believe it at first, because she was so sure she was going to have a girl.
You're absolutely right that there's nothing wrong with wanting to have a child of one gender after having a couple of the other. But that isn't what is going on here.

I disagree. Personality is a larger factor than gender. This is just part of the old school boys and girls have different interests idea.

My 10 year old son is far more "girly" than my friends two "boyish" daughters.

They're obsessed. They're disappointed in having boys and show it. They want a girl because they can dress her up, give her girly toys, and like it was said...she wants a best friend like she and her mom are. That's so harmful...one, children can play with any toys. Genders for toys are make believe. Two...what if a little girl isn't what they want? Are they still going to make her dress up, get her nails done, be a dainty little girl? That would be awful.

You should embrace your children for who they are. It shouldn't be based on genitals and your predisposed ideas that go along with those genitals.

They already resent the boys they *may* have in the future. They are both always throwing up "the daughter we will never have" or "yeah thats not ever going to happen" when talking about future babies being girls. It's just so strange and unhealthy. I would hate to be the third Lanning boy and hear my parents talk about me like that. Plus the gender reveals?? Missy was legit PISSED for DAYS after she found out Finn was a boy.

Even with Ollie, she had everyone, including herself, convinced that it was a girl...and multiple ultrasounds to confirm. If I remember correctly, she couldn't wait and went to that ultrasound place as early as possible and there probably was good reason to not go out and go boy crazy at the store just yet - but you could tell that she really was hoping that they would go back and decide it was actually a girl. To her, subsequent ultrasounds weren't for confirmation purposes, but a chance for all her girl wishes to come true You could just read the disappointment in her face whenever she talked about it.

I feel so bad for this family and especially Ollie and Finn.They try so hard to make Ollie happy and even cried when he finally smiled during the pirate song. They don't understand that the simple pleasures in life are what make 4 year olds happy. This kid would be happy with a bouncy house and some toy sword fighting. I don't understand the need to go crazy like this. He didn't ask for this, or to be filmed like this and it breaks my heart, it puts him out there for people on forums like this to call him unfortunate looking and make fun of his speech. This speaks volumes about how terrible they are as parents. I can read my four year old son's body language and if he's uncomfortable with something, I remove him from the situation. His stability is more important to me than anything else and it proves how the LUMPS only care about themselves and making money than their child's well-being. It's really sad.
