Either way the poor kid is stuck having to correct people her whole life. I remembered some kid once defending her saying it was after an elderly relative named Hazzel and tried to say they spelt Hazel differently back then

I very clearly recall her talking about Hazzel's name. Basically, she wanted a unique name and chose a double "z" because having the letter "z" is unusual/unique, but having a double "z" was even more unique.
