Re: 8 Passengers, 11 if we can find our pets. Part #5
Okay I watched and I was sad to see how Julie is becoming very stressed out and in her own words frustrated with her family. She's way too young to get angry so much, can't be healthy. I understand nobody gets to choose their family or circumstances, but this looks like the beginning of something that could end up getting very bad down the road.
At least Ruby is now recognizing it and interacting with her though. She used to get ignored, at least on the vlogs.
Eve said she wants to be on America's got talent. I feel she has the personality and cuteness for the show, but no talent unless being a "wild child" counts as talent. They really should put her in gymnastics NOW at age 3, that would be so good for her. She's extremely strong and athletic and it would be good discipline for her.

Are you referring to the time at CVX when Julie was frustrated about things? I actually thought she really was genuinely over-tired and that it was a rather normal reaction. I also thought Ruby handled it well. I agree, though, that it could be very difficult living in this family, where so much of your life is public and things seem hyper and erratic.seriously7 wrote:Okay I watched and I was sad to see how Julie is becoming very stressed out and in her own words frustrated with her family. Oh and I forgot to mention for those who can't be bothering watching, 3 yr old Eve was left to fend for herself yet again and ended up going all the way to grandma's house with no shoes. What parent doesn't escort their 3yr old out of the house when going on a car ride and makes sure their car seat in secure?? She only noticed when they stopped at McDonalds.
I hate Ruby.

God I hate to see Chad in the front seat with his legs on the car dash. That's one of the most dangerous positions to be in a crash. It would be horrendous even if they were in a minor crash.
Edit: We read The Magic Treehouse books when I was in elementary. It's a wonderful series, a good choice for Olivia. Glad to see Julie enjoys them.

Did anyone see Ruby's instagram post? It sounds like Eve may have chopped off some of her hair. How many scissor incidents are their going to be before Ruby instills some discipline in her, or keeps a closer eye, or moves the damn scissors out of her reach!! We could have seen this coming from a mile away with Eve...

ruby said on her instagram:
"Can I tell you a secret? Is this a safe place to tell you? Ok. Here I go. I didn't learn how to be a good friend until my 30's. It's true. I made life so much harder for myself because I turned everything into a competition. I didn't see others as real people. When I was in school I thought the problem was with everyone else. "
it's not normal at all to live 30+ years thinking of people as objects. that must have to do with her sanity. wth?
+ isn't this whats happening with shari? why can't her or grandma griff or the fathers teach their kids how to think of others and make valuable relationships?
no wonder julie is struggling. she is the only normal human there

I would almost put money on the fact that Ruby gave her the scissors and encouraged her for views. Would not surprise me one bit.seriously7 wrote:Tiger27 wrote:Did anyone see Ruby's instagram post? She doesn't know how to make friends because she was taught that family is more important and friends are not necessary, not as important as family etc.overtherainbow wrote:ruby said on her instagram:

They are always together so they do not need friends. You can see from all their vlogs, they almost never show anybody and I doubt it's because those people want privacy, they don't even mention them: "My friend suggested that","I was with my friend there" etc
Re: 8 Passengers, 11 if we can find our pets. Part #5
What does she mean she didn't see others as real people? Like everyone else is uncivilized compared to her, or we're all just nobodies she couldn't care less about? How sad to only realize in your 30s that you're mentally and emotionally stunted. I feel like Ellie is a lot like Ruby in that regard too.

I 110% think Ruby gave Eve the scissors. Like, for sure. Anyway, even if Eve cut her hair on her own why would Ruby post about it if she doesn't want people to call out her parenting or think her child is unruly? I just don't get it- she deliberately chooses to show Eve being naughty (a lot of which I think is staged or exaggerated) and then cries when people say Eve is badly behaved. It's very unfair to Eve, in my opinion, to show her in this light and to encourage her to act this way for views. I know not everyone agrees with me, but I do think Eve is a rather lovely child- I just hate what the youtube thing is doing to her.

I guess I know what she means. I struggled with something similar for few years -being in an bad relationship were I was told consistently that people aren't equal and aren't all worthy of happiness and love-Sarai wrote:What does she mean she didn't see others as real people? It suddenly became impossible for me to see my classmates or friends or family as regular humans with inner lives, genuine feelings, justified interests and goals
I started seeing them as copies that resemble each other and it was impossible for me to think that: maybe they are right? maybe they have something to say that I should listen to?
to think that the griffiths household is as "abusive" in that sense is saddening.

Even if she didn't give the child the scissors, it's still her fault for not supervising her and instilling discipline. Eve has had a scissor incident twice in the vlogs, this will be the 3rd time, it should have been nipped in the bud a year ago when it first happened.

Re: 8 Passengers, 11 if we can find our pets. Part #5
I actually don't think she is in any way reformed from this line of thinking. It's just that - maybe for the first time in her life - Ruby is WINNING. Her channel is doing well, and a high income/popularity go along with that. She has probably made friends with other vloggers in the last few years. It seems as though Kevin is either tenured or tenure-track by now, so all the years of uncertainty and insecurity are over. Before vlogging, her sisters were her friends (cousins to a lesser degree), and I really think the weird Griffiths upbringing broke Ruby the hardest, as she was not favored by anyone's account. Trying hard and failing to get what's given freely to siblings can have the side-effect of comparing oneself to one's peers and classing them either as competition, or as less-talented/less popular/generally "lesser."overtherainbow wrote:ruby said on her instagram:

Re: 8 Passengers, 11 if we can find our pets. Part #5
I read the post more like that Ruby wasn't the nicest (mean girl type), looked down on others as she had it all figured out and didn't need anyobody but got a reality check after Kevin lost his job. Bonnie and Julie are the only ones who seem to have real friends beside the sisters.
Those youtube friendships aren't real. They last as long as the youtubers benefit from each other and ends when it doesn't. Seem as only big youtubers get new "youtuber friends"...
Where have Nive Nulls old youtube friends been since they've been struggling with their channel, shouldn't youtube friends stepp in and help out or whay ?!

I am never going to understand why she thinks it's appropriate to A. Vlog the fact that Abby has wet herself all over the floor in the bathroom B. Laugh with her that she wet herself all over the floor!!! At least she told her she had to clear it up but she also should be saying that isn't funny you are old enough to know when you need to go to the toilet so that this sort of thing doesn't happen! It's really not something to laugh about!!

I expect nothing less from the family that grew up peeing down heat vents. It still baffles me that they did that, when they were raised to keep a spotless home, take care of their belongings, etc.Lauralou_15 wrote:I am never going to understand why she thinks it's appropriate to A.
