He sorta is. It's a tiny UT convention. He only went last year because Maker committed him to it without his knowing and wouldn't let him get out of it.janem wrote:Are they not going to CVX live? Bryan probably thinks he's too big a YouTube star to go.

Bratayley are going to be there and they have over 4 million subscribers. Bryan needs an ego check if he thinks he's too big of a youtuber to be there.janem wrote:Are they not going to CVX live? Bryan probably thinks he's too big a YouTube star to go.

Pretty sure that CVX Live isn't a "real" convention tbh, I don't blame them for skipping it

Re: Daily"Oll"AboutOllie (Daily Bumps) - Part 92
It seems like it was a waste of money since he had a perfectly good party on his actual birthday. I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't like last year, with every YouTuber in Southern California there. But why do two parties then? Corbin and Kelsey could have come earlier in the week, as could have SlyFox. They're vloggers. Every day is a weekend.
Someone gave Ollie the Captain Underpants books. He was thoroughly unimpressed. Missy was going on in her IG story about how he got "so many books!" But he so didn't care. He barely acknowledged them. And they had a lovely scripted IG story with Ollie saying "thank you"

Whatever happened to simple, fun birthday parties?! In general, I think kids parties are just so overdone these days. I am in my mid-thirties, and I remember doing simple party games in the backyard, having my party at a local pool or playground, or sleepovers with a rented movie or two. Pizza, microwave popcorn, homemade cake...small goody bags with some candy and a few little toys (Ollie had freaking pirate backpacks! ). I remember my mom letting me get Squeezits for all my guests to drink one year, and it was a HUGE deal for me lol. My family lived very comfortably and I certainly wasn't wanting for anything on my birthdays - but they still weren't the huge productions I feel like a see so much today. Now it's always bouncy houses, fancy cakes, inviting entire classrooms of kids, expensive party bags - it just seems like it must be so stressful on the parents! Is it just me, or are parties really just going to the next level? Lumps and otherwise.

No, they totally are. It's like each parent has to outdo the party before theirs! (And I blame Pinterest.) Since my daughter's birthday is at the end of the summer, we've seen all of the "requirements" set forth by the other parents throughout the year. They always invite the WHOLE PRESCHOOL (which is small, but still like 35 kids). One mom told me which places were "acceptable" to have a party and which places weren't. We were going to do the splash pad, with some games at a nearby park, but I was worried about the weather, so had to shell out $300 for some bouncy house place. (It includes pizza, but still.)cat9480 wrote:Whatever happened to simple, fun birthday parties?! In general, I think kids parties are just so overdone these days. And that's the "lazy route". Other parents have full-on themed parties with little name plaques in front of each food that match the theme, and we've been to parties where they hire princesses to come and talk to the kids. I ordered a rainbow cake and picked up rainbow table cloths at Target and called it a day. We're giving each kid (ages 3-5) a Level 1 reading book instead of a bag full of crap. Boom. Party.
But I'm obviously bitter about the whole thing. Lol Honestly it seems like the Lumps were on the ritzy end of normal kid birthday parties these days.

Nope-- you're not crazy. I blame Pinterest and Instagram (and YouTube) as well. Two parties for a four year old whose parents and their "friends" stay home all day? Nuts. And the reality TV stars like JWow and Farrah from Teen Mom post all these pictures of these extravagant bashes for small children. I think we had one party at Chuck E Cheese, and one at a laser tag place, and the rest were either at home or at a local park. I am so glad my kids grew up before social media put all this pressure on parents!cat9480 wrote:Whatever happened to simple, fun birthday parties?! Re: Daily"Oll"AboutOllie (Daily Bumps) - Part 92
Ollie's expression's are killing me - the kid has zero excitement for anything! BryLard was a slobby mess going down the bouncy castle slide - "bro" why don't you get some exercise for once in your life? Missy has a spa day everyday - she acts like it's a luxury for her or something. Ollie needs to be picking up after himself - like why act like your kids are "sooo good" when they don't do the things they should be doing? It's so funny how she makes the effort to give her dad recognition for every single thing that he does yet Bryan doesn't even get a "my husband does soooo much for us" shoutout! Kelsey and Corbin are desperate for some views so they have to go running over to the Bumps house again - must be nice to have to friends with benefits
Re: Daily"Oll"AboutOllie (Daily Bumps) - Part 92
Nothing wrong with cute pinterest inspired party with little food labels and theme these can be lovely down to earth parties too it just depends how you present it all ( but obv thats not party DB had/did)lagenialester wrote:No, they totally are. im all for making your kids super happy for bday and go for 'all you can afford' but if there werent 'real pirate and ariel' talking to them i think it would be pretty boring random hanging out at your friend backyard... i feel like it was like meet and greet in disneyland..
- there was ariel and pirates in my backyard for my bday!!
- Wow and what else did you do for your bday ?!
- eeeeeem......
(Unless i missed something lol)
Only thing i LOVED (from what i saw) was how Ariel was leaving (pappa - i think) was carrying her when she had to go home to make it real for kids. My inner child was beaming lol its weird how they said oh sorry you have to do that to him(?) I would be excited AF if i could carry mermaid home for my kids to believe she is real but then i like to DO THINGS to make my kids happy not just hire/ask someone else to do it lol

No, you're right-- it's pretty much people who are insecure that worry about Pinterest perfect parties themselves, just because of social media. Maybe I didn't express my point well. But the kids see these things too. Especially on YouTube. Last year, there were so many comments on Ollie's party saying "I wish my parents would throw me a party like that!" So even if they throw a perfectly nice party, these people are getting judged by their own kids. And other kids and moms. I did feel pressure to throw my kids a nice party, but it wasn't the same.xkatka wrote:Social media dont put pressure on anyone you're a grown ass adults lol its just an ispo for normal ppl..lmmomSD wrote:Nope-- you're not crazy. Considering the number of blog posts about feeling pressure from Pinterest and Instagram, I can't be the only one who thinks it's out of hand. Must be nice to be able to just shrug it off. Most parents I know have enough guilt from working, or just being parents and being tired and feeling like they never do enough, and to have these YouTubers going overboard for their kids' parties isn't helping.

Re: Daily"Oll"AboutOllie (Daily Bumps) - Part 92
I am not sure if it's that nothing can impress him or if it's just that he is miserable in general and maybe completely overwhelmed. This party was awful. SO over-the-top, birds (!!!), cameras everywhere, Bryan narrating/screaming the whole time. I distinctly remember my birthday party when I turned four, many years ago, wherein I became overwhelmed by a bunch of kids crowding around me while I opened the presents. There were about 8 kids and the theme was Teddy Bears' Picnic, where we read a story and ate sandwiches and cake on a picnic blanket. I know Ollie is used to much more excitement, but still... wouldn't any kid be blank at this?
Re: Daily"Oll"AboutOllie (Daily Bumps) - Part 92
I was talking about the Johnson fam vlog here by the way. I didn't realize the Bumps had theirs up already. 9 minutes in and Oliver looks completely and genuinely happy...while fighting a sword fight.
