Did anyone else feel a bit of a religious cult-y vibe in today's vlog?

Didn't watch it but that doesn't surprise me. It's a Christian mission and Missy's mom's family were clearly fundies. I wonder what they actually followed. It would be interesting if it was Gothard. Missy mentioned she was skirts only until teens and never saw any movies as a kid. I think it all started to change when her grandma died.

Whe you think about it being christian is not a huge part of the culture in cambodia. Im not even sure what the dominant religion is in cambodia. would not be surprised if these cambodian children in cambodia did the whole song and dance so they could get some help in cambodia.

I'm pretty sure the main religion there is Buddhism

Nah, I don't think that Missy's parents follow Gothard (thank GOD, no pun intended) but I do believe they are hardcore fundies--at least Missy's parents are. I think Missy and her siblings have stopped drinking that kool-aid, especially Cassie whose favorites Youtubers are pretty openly atheist. IMO Missy is just doing the whole pony show of acting all religious because that is what her parents did with her when she was Ollie's age and she probably think it is the best way to raise a child, even if she isn't fully fundie herself. Bryan is loosely Christian I want to say? He "found" Jesus after he and Missy broke up; which has had theories its because of his sexuality.
So you have Missy who has fallen off the fundie bandwagon, and Bryan who IMO is putting on this religious act and mix it altogether with fundie grandparents and BOOM you have the Hollister family dynamic.
As for Cambodia, Bryan is 100% just going with whatever this organization says. This whole fund-raising thing was an act to show how ~good and ~charitable they are. I'm sure they are happy and excited that this money is going to a good cause, but I am sure Bryan is way MORE excited about how he looks like a saint to all his viewers.
And it is a HUGE warning sign when an organization is going into a country that is seen as "uncivilized" by Western culture and spreads goodwill---and Christianity. Especially since Buddhism puts emphasis on inner self worth and doesn't value material possessions, it should be seen as odd that all the sudden these kids and families are not hardcore Christians.
It is my opinion that these "good" charities are just Imperialism disguised as a nonprofit. It doesn't mean that they aren't doing good by feeding and educating them; but they are demeaning and erasing their culture and belief systems in the process, which I think is disgusting.

Of course it's easy to edit while Bryan's not there.. He sends her footage, and by the time she gets all his footage, she barely needs to do anything.

I'm sure she is loving not vlogging every five minutes. She can finally spend time with her family without the camera being in their face the whole time..

I have watched 5 minutes of yesterday's vlog and had to stop it..... couldn't stand that!

Bryan is a tourist in Cambodia I have the feeling! I thought he went to help people in need?
I HATE how he is doing his "Iamheresince72hoursandunderstandeverythingaboutcambodia" attitude!

I stopped watching them for a long time, and sincerely thought, this trip will be interesting... but I think I will stop watching them again. Seriously his attitude is driving me nuts.

When the YouTube dollars dry up I hope they vlog long enough to show at least one of them get a regular job with a boss. They are going to crash and burn so hard.

Haha yea...I am seriously concerned for Ollie's wellbeing and the fact that they don't talk with him, they talk at him. I mainly watch to make sure he is still alive and okay (well, okay being a relative term). Soon they will be crying about how messed up their kid is (taking none of the blame) and will want to "start over" with number two.

One of the problems for Ollie (and I've seen this where big families live together) is that his parents are seldom alone with him, so they talk to eachother instead of talking to him. I have friends that live in a large multi-gen home, and their 3 year olds vocabulary is quite stunted when compared to her "only child" cousin of the same age.

Ollie is an only child with 2 stay at home parents, he should be advanced developmentally and not delayed (or even on par) with that advantage I would expect. Missy had the perfect opportunity to work in this, but it was more important for her selfish ass to have constant company while Bryan was gone. I'm sorry, but I think she's an awful parent. Sure Ollie is fed and dressed, but is that really all that's expected to be a good parent? She's selfish and ignorant to putting his needs above her own.

Bryan is halfway around the world... He should not be the one dealing with getting the vlog up and "Un-flagged" while Missy plays. She is so damn spoiled!

I'm looking forward to when bryan and mithy have like 5 kids because, they need the $$$ and the whole youtube thing crashes and burns and they will have to support those kids on bryan waiting tables at outback again.

I want to find the vlog and look at the shirts so I can find them online as we just found out I'm pregnant and I would love to get these shirts as gifts any help is appreciated!
