Great post. Totally agree with you. Did you see poor little Eden at the end of their livestream yesterday? Ugh I felt so bad for her. I hope Andrea or Tom comforted her after they ended the video. She was obviously crying. She seems so sweet.workinprogress wrote:Ok, i find her just as strange as the rest of you, but i try to give her the benefit of the doubt when i can lol. She has repeatedly said they plan on building another bathroom this year, and are going to build bunk beds in the girls’ room for the new baby (when she’s ready) and their current youngest to sleep in. Yes, they all seem almost robotic, but i don’t get the vibe that Tom & Andrea would prevent the kids from doing relatively what they want to if the kid really wanted to do something. She’s said Thomas (and the others) could wear whatever they wanted to, but they find it easier to follow the chart (and Thomas doesn’t care what he wears anyway). I watched their “dinner” livestream last night when i couldn’t fall asleep, and they said they don’t have any rules about dating, aren’t against tattoos, and have also removed the audio Bible from the living room. I feel like they’re actually pretty “lax” about a lot of things in comparison to other people that live the way this family does. Idk, she used to give me strong Duggar vibes (back when she basically ASMR’d her sit down videos lmao), but i feel like she’s more comfortable with the camera and is more open about how they really are now. I have nothing against large families as long as the kids are being provided for, and they’re managing to provide the necessities for the ones they have now. Their kids play video games, watch TV, have phones/tablets, etc. so they’re not 100% sheltered like the Duggars. I just feel like sometimes they get judged unfairly on here bc they’re so different from the “norm”. Yeah, they’re an odd group of people, but they could be worse lol

In the boys room tour, she says they were in the basement semi finished for two years. So it could still be a while

Re: Andrea Mills
Actually what she said, regarding the clothes, is that she offered only the oldest kid the option of wearing different clothes ONLY if he bought his own clothes. That doesn't sound like giving him a real, feasible option, more like constraining him. Also, her response about everything is "the kids don't care". That's not normal. According to her, those kids don't care about anything. They don't seem to go anywhere other than the store, those kids are completely isolated from the world, she feeds them lots of junk it appears and she "homeschools" them but some older ones appear to not be able to do simple math.Up until recently she would force them to listen to the audio bible every minute of their lives. She appears to be the classical parent who strips the children of individuality and keeps them uneducated so they can't be independent and leave. This isn't about being different, it's about basic rights. Those kids have the right to individuality and real education and peers/proper social development.workinprogress wrote:Ok, i find her just as strange as the rest of you, but i try to give her the benefit of the doubt when i can lol. Re: Andrea Mills
Large families who homeschool are under the microscope these last few days.. Wonder if Tom will allow more freedom for the older boys?

No, she never said that they had to buy their own clothes. Your post sounds really paranoid. Also, Thomas drives and has keys to the car and the house. He recently applied for a job outside of Tom’s shop. Sounds to me like they are letting him grow up pretty normal. He just turned 16, knows how to drive, and is looking for a job.waitwhat wrote:Actually what she said, regarding the clothes, is that she offered only the oldest kid the option of wearing different clothes ONLY if he bought his own clothes. Another thing. Where they live is not highly populated, so to attend public school they would need to ride pretty far on the bus to get there. That is one of the reasons why Andrea homeschools them.
They might be a little odd, but they are a good family.

Re: Andrea Mills
I'm going to assume you don't know what paranoid means and leave that alone. Also, if you watch the "Why do you wear matching clothes" video, that is exactly what she says: That at 13 she told Thomas that if he doesn't want to wear matching clothes he can use his own pocket money to buy his own. It's in the same video that she mention the children feel "off" if they cannot wear the same color. They did not get there on their own, it's years of conditioning and it's not normal to feel off because you can't match your siblings. They don't want individuality because they were raised as a pack and don't know any better. If she isn't lying and they truly don't care about their clothes, sports, other activities, homeschooling, where they sleep, etc., that's not normal or ok but they were probably raised to just go with it all and not question things. I also have nothing against homeschooling except it seems she isn't doing a great job, since like I said, some of the kids seem unable to do basic math and I don't see how she could actually teach so many children of various ages efficiently. The long bus trip to school might be worth it under the circumstances. I feel like at least part of the kids will not live up to their potential due to their circumstances. Obviously I hope I'm wrong, this is just the impression I got from the videos I saw. Maybe you're right and they are good people and aren't trying to keep the kids stunted purposefully.Lucky-one wrote:No, she never said that they had to buy their own clothes. I don't think Andrea saying the kids could buy their own clothing if they want something different then she provides is a bad thing or repressing them in any way. Actually, I think its pretty good of her to teach her kids that things, even clothing, costs money and while mom and dad will provide the necessities if you want something beyond that then you can earn money and purchase it.

Re: Andrea Mills
I don’t ever recall hearing her say that Thomas would have to buy his own clothes, but whatever lmao. I’m 99% sure she’s always said that they don’t have to follow the clothing wheel, and could wear whatever is in their closet, but the choose not to. Yeah, matching is weird, but if that’s the worst thing in the world to you then your life must be great. The kids have the ability to literally leave their house to go into town without parental supervision from basically the age of 12 from what she’s shown. They’re given plenty of “freedom”. Honestly to me you sound like someone that’s blatantly against all homeschooling. The kids still have to be doing curriculum that meets state standards, even though Wyoming is very lenient on their HS laws. Not everyone has to be Einstein to be able to survive on their own, either. The kids HAVE to be able to do math (as you’re using for example) that is up to their grade level...they literally have to submit proof every year of each child’s curriculum in order to show progression bc it’s a law. I don’t come on YTMD to white knight for people, but your comment makes no sense, and sounds like it’s coming out of the mouth of someone that hate-watches 4 or 5 of her videos before commenting and forming an opinion.waitwhat wrote:Actually what she said, regarding the clothes, is that she offered only the oldest kid the option of wearing different clothes ONLY if he bought his own clothes. Re: Andrea Mills
Exactly...she never said “you must wear the same color as us or we’re throwing all of your clothes away and then you can buy your own stuff”. She gives them the option to not wear the same color, but they still must obviously wear what’s in their closet, which is VERY fair.FakingIt_MakingIt wrote:I don't think Andrea saying the kids could buy their own clothing if they want something different then she provides is a bad thing or repressing them in any way. 1. 2. Wyoming has no homeschool regulation. She has to submit curriculum but the children don't get tested by someone impartial so actually the kids could be way behind and no one would know any better. There's being Einstein and then there's being where they need to be for their age. The children who couldn't do basic math were old enough to be able to do way more advanced math, it was a simple addition they couldn't do.
3.I'm not against homeschooling I'm against non regulated homeschooling by parents who aren't up for the job. Homeschooling can be amazing if done right, as you yourself pointed out a few pages back, when you left a comment very similar to my comment btw I just noticed. Is it that you've totally changed your opinion of them or do you just love having contradictory discussions? lol If my comment makes no sense then your own comment from september makes no sense either
4.In your previous comment, you yourself point out that socially the kids aren't doing great. So what good is it to let a 12 year old wonder around the town if you haven't built him the skills to connect with other people? If you wait until the kid is 13 and has been wearing matching clothes all his life, it's very likely he'll decline. Kids choose comfort and familiarity.

Re: Andrea Mills
Oh and for the record, I think she does good things too but like I said, this is a gossip site and over here I just write my criticism because I don't think it's ok to go on her videos with the negative stuff, since this place exists. For example, I love that she is raising non materialistic kids (whatever the reason).

Re: Andrea Mills
She said it. But she didn’t say that he would have to purchase all his clothing, she said if he wanted something different then what she bought he would have to buy it and that was fine with her.
I don’t blame her, I don’t think it’s bad either. She will provide clothing (as any parent should) but if the child wants something different then it’s up to them to earn money for it. There’s nothing wrong with that.

Omg really?!? Nobody is insisting anything, geez! A few posts back I said that she never said that the kids had to buy their own clothes. I never heard her say that. Maybe I’m wrong! I don’t know and I don’t care a whole lot either. I thought we were all talking about whether or not Andrea forces them to wear matching colors and she’s made it clear in quite a few videos that they can wear what they want. She has said in multiple videos that they do not have to wear matching clothes, but let’s focus on that one specific video where she supposedly says that if they don’t want to match they have to buy their own damn clothes! Lolwaitwhat wrote:lol give it up, I have. Even after I named the specific video and posted the link, they're still insisting she didn't say that.suemia wrote:She definitely said that.
