This is so sad because it's completely true. She's not what Alex ordered.

They are such awful people aren't they? First they were meant to be the poster family for adoption, but that didn't fulfill them. Then they were meant to be the poster family for IVF, but that didn't fulfill them either because poor wee Cassidy had her heart issues, so couldn't give Alex her 'perfect' mothering experience. IVF child #2 will have a hell of a lot of unrealistic expectation on them because firstly if it's anything other than a boy it's not particularly wanted right from the start, and secondly if it doesn't finally give Alex her perfect mothering experience, then it's another failure.

Do you know though, I don’t think anything would fulfil them... it is their whole pattern.... Start something, get bored, leave it unfinished and put it aside. Sadly, whatever is flavour of the month will get the spotlight, then it will be parked outside like the RV when they’re through with it - kids included.

They'll be bored w the chickens and gardening soon.I predict one season of it,bf they move onto something else.like goats.Then they'll be doing goat milk,goat cheese and goat milk soap.Then they'll get bored and move onto something else.

At first, they insisted that they wanted to be parents. But that became hard to believe when after TWO adoptions were placed in their lap (one from a viewer) they were pursuing IVF with a toddler and a newborn baby. Then it felt like Alex was obsessed with the idea of experiencing pregnancy. After years of IVF, they finally get the pregnancy and biological baby they pursued. Now it feels like they've latched on to this idea of needing a boy to feel complete, plus a perfect pregnancy experience without the high risk factors. And after Alex filmed herself taking a pregnancy test a few months ago, I started to suspect that being able to conceive on their own was the only thing that would make Alex feel fixed/good enough/superior/whatever. She is constantly moving the goal post. If it's a medical impossibility, what an odd thing to hold on to rather than appreciating the family you do have through adoption and IVF. She will never be satisfied.

Edited to Add: I also think it's clear from their very first infertility videos that they felt a huge amount of shame and guilt for pursuing fertility treatments in the first place due to their religious beliefs, and I think having a child with a heart defect magnified these feelings. As if these medical problems were the consequence of not giving control over to God or something. They seem to have a lot to "prove" because of the disconnect between their religion and their infertility.
