Daily"Oll"AboutOllie (Daily Bumps) - Part 92
Re: Daily"Oll"AboutOllie (Daily Bumps) - Part 92
Catered kids PB &J, props galore, professional photographer, flying in kelsey and Corbin, actors, bouncy house, paid lifeguard, birds, band.... I stand by my $10k price tag. So all that work for that treasure chest for a kids party never to be seen again.
50 kids that really he only sees 2 of them at all. I was surprised that the Ballengers drove 3-4hrs on a Saturday for a 4 yr old party that they aren't best buds with. You know they didn't stay with the Lumps so a hotel for them.
If they say no presents, then don't let him open them and donate them to a kids hospital or something.
Just really disgusted by the whole thing and how jaded Ollie is.

That was WAYYY too much for a little kid's birthday party - but do it for the VLOGS, I guess. All the professional photogs around, someone probably hired to fly the drone, actors, catered food - and did they HIRE people/kids to attend the party?? Those people looked like extras. LOL! I'm guessing about $20-30K for the party.

Sorry, but I have to add that Corbin and Kelsey's first class plane tickets just to come to this "party" were probably about $1500 alone. B&M must have a lot of $$$ to waste so much of it! Jeez, they really need to think about saving it. YT doesn't last forever!!!

They know how to throw a party...i will give them that. But they do it for all the wrong reasons. Everything has the be the most extravagant and expensive. Surely, Bryan spent most of his time with camera in hand and trying to get good blog footage rather than enjoying the moment with his child. Every year they will have to "outdo" the previous year because then Oliver will be expecting it. They are making him entitled, spoiled, and completely unphased by all the extravagant parties. What I want to know is...what all their "friends" think of them? Do they think they are just as ridiculous as we think they are? I sense a lot of phony friendships and talking behind backs

The infamous treasure chest made an appearance!!! (Hi, Lumps!) I'm glad they at least used it for something after Papa worked so hard on it. Whatever it was originally for must have fallen into the black hole of abandoned life-changing career moves. When they originally showed it, a "huge announcement was coming in a few days." It never did, but the chest was shown for .3 seconds in the Peter Pan halloween special.janem wrote:So all that work for that treasure chest for a kids party never to be seen again.

Too true. And if his 4th birthday is this extravagant, what does he have to look forward to when the really big milestones come along? I'm scared to think what his 16th birthday, prom, graduation, wedding, etc. will look like... They're setting the bar really high really early. And I'm willing to bet Ollie would have been equally, if not more, happy with a homemade dino cake and special family trip to the zoo or somewhere else he'd enjoy. He looked overwhelmed to me.az2639 wrote:They know how to throw a party...i will give them that. But they do it for all the wrong reasons. Everything has the be the most extravagant and expensive. I missed the vlog before it was taken down, but the major takeaway I got from watching the Johnson Fam vlog was that Ollie looked incredibly overwhelmed and miserable. The only time I saw him actually smile was when Jeffrey was joking with him about the birds in the beginning. Poor kid... I actually do feel bad for him. It's obvious how much he enjoys swimming, I think he would've had a ton of fun just having kids over to swim in that overdone pool. Did he even get to swim or did he have to stay dressed up as a pirate the entire time?

I have a feeling they will be BROKE by the time he's 16.... This YT thing is VERY temporary!cat9480 wrote:Too true. 16 is being generous. I give it until Ollie is 10, max, before YouTube money dries up.ewokfan11 wrote:I have a feeling they will be BROKE by the time he's 16.... I came here to say the same thing. I think we've seen time after time that Ollie _hates_ these big productions they put on. The poor kid looked SO uncomfortable. He would have had way more fun with a few of his friends in the pool.BaffledByItAll wrote:I missed the vlog before it was taken down, but the major takeaway I got from watching the Johnson Fam vlog was that Ollie looked incredibly overwhelmed and miserable. I wonder why they took the vlog down. I didn't see anything glaringly wrong...other than their usual nonsense and white trash extravagance.
Re: Daily"Oll"AboutOllie (Daily Bumps) - Part 92
1. What kind of a child doesn't appreciate Captain Underpants? Those books were my childhood!!! I hope he grows to love the books, even if he's not interested now.
2. I agree, that party was too much for him to handle. He's been raised to be as socially awkward as his mommy and it's just too much for him. I was a very shy child/teenager and am still decently shy today...spaces full of people I don't know/don't know very well is very overwhelming still. It was probably hard for Ollie.
3. How do they spend so much money on junk like this? I understand wanting to give your child a good party (we all know it was just to show off, though, because I don't think this is what Ollie would want at all), but good grief. They're always spending so much money on so much shit and I can't take it. I've always been pretty frugal and the thought of spending so much money on a brief moment is ridiculous.
4. If they were going to have a party like this, why not wait until he's a little older? He's only 4. He can look back on this in the videos and maybe remember bits and pieces, but he's not going to look back on this and fondly recall everything. Who among us has perfect, clear details of things that happened when we were 4? They should have waited years before doing a party like this. What a waste.

It was fine when I watched it. I know i will never throw a party like db did (or similar) for my kids and nah i dont feel bad or guilty even tho my kids go all 'uuh-ahh' watching youtube (when they do)..lmmomSD wrote:No, you're right-- it's pretty much people who are insecure that worry about Pinterest perfect parties themselves, just because of social media. Maybe I didn't express my point well. But the kids see these things too. Especially on YouTube. Last year, there were so many comments on Ollie's party saying "I wish my parents would throw me a party like that!" So even if they throw a perfectly nice party, these people are getting judged by their own kids. And other kids and moms. I did feel pressure to throw my kids a nice party, but it wasn't the same.xkatka wrote:Social media dont put pressure on anyone you're a grown ass adults lol its just an ispo for normal ppl..lmmomSD wrote:Nope-- you're not crazy. I blame Pinterest and Instagram (and YouTube) as well. Two parties for a four year old whose parents and their "friends" stay home all day? Nuts. And the reality TV stars like JWow and Farrah from Teen Mom post all these pictures of these extravagant bashes for small children. I think we had one party at Chuck E Cheese, and one at a laser tag place, and the rest were either at home or at a local park. I am so glad my kids grew up before social media put all this pressure on parents!

the kind of parents who try to out-do everyone would do the same without social media present anyway evwn 50 years ago lol
you wanna tell me that if your kids were growing up now you would put all that extravaganza on ONLY just because social media are present? i dont think so

Considering the number of blog posts about feeling pressure from Pinterest and Instagram, I can't be the only one who thinks it's out of hand. Must be nice to be able to just shrug it off. Most parents I know have enough guilt from working, or just being parents and being tired and feeling like they never do enough, and to have these YouTubers going overboard for their kids' parties isn't helping.

Just because everyone else around will be spoiled and my kids jealous of then that doesnt mean im going to give in or feel under pressure..
Of course i try to throw them nice parties but for them to have fun NOT TO out-do anyone whether on YouTube or real life. My older boy is almost 5 but knows already youtube extravaganza is not real life and is not good to have EVERYTHING he sees on mummys mobile videos.
(Maybe it will change once he starts school in sept so gonna leave this open like 'we will see' )
I also think they did pirate theme only because of 'swords allowed' as thats most appropriate (sword/gun-wise lol) its not like he is all about pirates is it? (I dont wat h them that often)

Re: Daily"Oll"AboutOllie (Daily Bumps) - Part 92
so..long time reader and finally created an account. I saw the vlog and wonder if it was flagged because of the use of Jack Sparrow and Capt. Hook? Imo it was so over the top and something I'd love to be able to do for a huge milestone party but not a 4th bday. It seemed Bryan enjoyed himself more than anyone and as usual this was done for views. Did you catch the food set up. Fancy pb&j sandwiches lol. I was wondering if these types of things can be a tax write off since its work related and if so maybe the entire pool upgrade could be as well if they have pool playlists and refer to them often. I have a friend that wrote off his pool because he taught scuba lessons & even vehicles so I know its totally possible which got me thinking about so many of these high expense vlogs. Nothing wrong with writing off expenses for a business but I feel bad for these kiddos that are pushed into thw YT drama like Ollie. So much more to say can't wait to interact more on these forums.
