Knorpp&South: When a FINGER AMPUTATION turns into a THRIFTING COMPILATION. | Part 4

Has anyone thought about reporting the knorps to CPS? They are really getting out of hand.

i get so tired of the "i must thrift ...it's good for society" rant and besides "poor people don't buy the things i buy" crap. yea i get it you have cash and your buy only the mid 14th century (not) finds that uneducated people drop at all the thrift stores! how stupid of all those folks to leave their treasures at those stores. just so ignorant
the blacksmith kid strikes me as a serial killer wannna be. always stalking around the house. always picking people up and throwing them. it doesn't seem odd to parents that your kid spends his days making fires and weapons? and then making a crappy "treehouse" in the yard. going thru people's trash for pallets? geez go to lowes and buy him some wood. no, instead and lets just stop along side the road and pick crap off the side of the road. he scares me.
eve wanted the little cup and saucer at the one store. geez, spend the $$ and buy her a set. no get her a bike she doesn't want. she was begging for the set.
mike's pitch for the schooling and settin g the kids up for futures...doing what? making friendship bracelets? andrew is going to write books (oh yea that's right he's written a few already, my bad) hair stylist ..you can't understand eve...is she even getting therapy???
and the whole "geez my brother's kid lost part of his finger under my watch and it's no big deal, let's go thrifting" they are all frigging nuts. i wouldn't let my kids near yours if tht was my kid. you are bored at the hospital and leave to go thrifting?
they are all insane.

She’s buying things - complaining they are overpriced - and then sells them on for even more money. What’s ethical about that?
While she’s hoarding her glasses and plates and other things, someone who might really need to buy things more cheaply might be doing without.
She’s not “up cycling” anything. Apart from yesterday’s vlog, when have we last seen her work on anythjng? How could she be working on stuff when she spends her days going to the thrift store? When she does work on stuff, she is so slap dash about it. Who paints a chest of drawers with the drawers in situ? It’s madness!
She has forgotten about her business - if it ever was that. Everything she has bought recently, she keeps for herself. Mike said yesterday she was embarrassed about how often she goes to thrift stores. She should be!

Re: Knorp&South: When a FINGER AMPUTATION turns into a THRIFTING COMPILATION. | Part 4
Who the hell needs to own as many dishes as this woman does??? And she keeps buying more. Sure, you can get Christmas dishes cheap at thrift stores. I have Christmas plates I got that way. I don’t have boxes and boxes of dishes in an assortment of colors and styles hidden away in a “warehouse” down the road that I can swap out every time I want my kitchen to look different.
I believe she thinks that because you can walk through the house, she’s not a hoarder. Megan- pro tip, not all hoarders are messy, and most hoarders didn’t start out with a home you can’t walk through! If you have a compulsive NEED to stop at every thrift store you need, and scour it for treasures, YOU HAVE A PROBLEM!
The kids get not attention from her unless they are giving her something, or supporting her need to thrift.
I have a feeling that living on the road, and having sold nearly all their belongings to do so, is what triggered the hoarding tendencies. She may have been the driving force behind abandoning everything, but I believe she suffers from a type of PTSD from getting rid of everything, and spending so much time buying nothing. It’s had the opposing affect of creating a need to fill her life with things, instead of meaningful memories with her children.
Many hoarders start out that way, filling some I identified NEED with things. Sometimes it’s pets, or food, or trash. With Megan, it’s the obsessive need to buy anything she thinks has value.
While she is reselling some of it, it’s clear from shots of the warehouse that a majority of the “things” are being kept for future use.
Her entire family would greatly benefit from talking to counselors. The birth kids are out of control- they clearly have all been shown that they are perfect in every way, and that anything they do makes them an absolute genius. Meanwhile, the adopted kids are being shown doing manual labor, not getting the medical care they so desperately need, given gifts with little meaning or emotional value to them, and not being given the same chances in life.
Elijah got a massive vacation as a “graduation” gift (for “graduating” from playing the guitar and using a camera??). Daniel got... nothing. Then we have Esther. I half expect she’ll get another mannequin head so she can braid more hair.
Andrew is up next. Given the pandemic and inability to travel, I expect he’ll get something pretty epic as his travel gift.
The way the birth kids are treated vs the adopted kids used to be a lot more subtle than it is now. Megan and Mike live a “praise and worship” parenting life when it comes to the 4 boys- they may not say the actual words, but their actions show that they feel like they produced absolutely the best off spring possible, and that they “collected” broken children from China to better their lives, and those kids should be grateful that they have the opportunity to be raised by two such amazing people, and surrounded by the greatness of their birth kids.

It’s so sad to say that you’re absolutely right in everything you write ... especially for the (adopted) kids. But I’m pretty sure that Daniel, Esther and Pearl will succeed in life counter to the bio kids !

I'm sure plenty of people have thought about it. But it is expressly against the rules of the forum to engage IRL with the vloggers and any authorities.Ellawitt wrote:Has anyone thought about reporting the knorps to CPS? They are really getting out of hand.
These bozos are probably thrilled that Asher is heating up metal and banging on it with a hammer. All of their bio kids are geniuses, right, so obviously he is going to be a successful blacksmith without any formal training. He's going to be the youngest person on that Forged in Fire show. Riiiight. Sure, Jan.
And not only is Elijah self-absorbed and entitled, he is not what one would consider a shining example of what "unschooling" can accomplish. He can't spell, and that sentence that starts with "I choosing" just made me twitch worse than Megan. Sadly, he may be completely truthful that it's the best year of his life. He has structure, probably for the first time in his life. He's used to having virtually no privacy, so that isn't an adjustment for him. He's only sharing a place with 1 or 2 people. He's likely having the time of a life.

Re: Knorp&South: When a FINGER AMPUTATION turns into a THRIFTING COMPILATION. | Part 4
I’m catching up on vlogs this morning.
Mike talks about Megan NOT filming at a thrift store because she’s embarrassed by how much she goes.
By my count, she has been in a thrift store or antique mall 7 times since Christmas Day- and the vlog isn’t up to date yet.
Megan- THAT IS NOT NORMAL!
Also? Your blue cups are votive candle holders. They are probably remanent from a wedding. They are not cups.
Mike talking about how Megan stays skinny now, as if she has never talked about it before. Let’s all be honest- when you go through manic episodes, you tend to bypass food, and flit around all over the place. You should not be talking about your food choices being healthy when you literally give your kids chicken nuggets and fish sticks.
Raise your hand if you had no desire to know about Megan getting bloated and farting a lot.
They really should just rename the show “Megan In Charge (Of Mike and everyone else)”.
I guess “The Megan Show (and some other people)” is probably just easier.

Re: Knorp&South: When a FINGER AMPUTATION turns into a THRIFTING COMPILATION. | Part 4
If you are embarrassed to show how much shopping you do, it’s a problem. If your “hobby” interferes with your family time, it’s a problem. If you make rationalizations about everything you buy from the thrift store, it’s a problem. If you had to store things you buy in a warehouse, it’s a problem. If you get “anxious” when you don’t thrift every day, it’s a problem. If you have to hide purchases from your husband in the bottom of a cabinet, it’s a problem. If you keep mentioning not having much money, but you buy dishes and vases you don’t even have a need for, it’s a problem. If you are out on Christmas Eve, throwing random gifts in the basket because you couldn’t bother to stop thrifting to Christmas shop for your family, it’s a problem. Really, should I keep going? I am sure you all can come up with plenty more.
Did they ever show Jude getting his fish?? I don’t remember that part of the Christmas vlog.
And I thought Megan has gained some of her weight back. She was quite slim before they moved. Not that she is fat by any means. She does have quite an ample backside tho.

Re: Knorp&South: When a FINGER AMPUTATION turns into a THRIFTING COMPILATION. | Part 4
I watched their Christmas Day vlog today (and a few other recent vids)--it was my first time tuning in in MONTHS (was so upset after they had that giant family reunion during the pandemic that I unsubscribed). It makes me so sad to see how little effort they put into the holiday this year, especially in comparison to years past. Like last year, they planned that whole elaborate scavenger hunt, and this year it all was so last minute and thrown together...plus Megan was SO GROUCHY throughout the whole thing. It seems to me like she's moved past YouTube being interesting and wants to move on, but can't because it's where most of their income comes through, explaining why Mike is doing so much of the vlogging when a year ago he did less than half (and five years ago he'd pick up the camera maybe once a video)! Also the salad they made looked revolting.
It also made me realize how much ~movie magic~ went into their house tour. They shot the tour in a way that makes the home look much more livable and nice, when in reality it looks borderline decrepit, even with their renovations.

Not sure if they've been reported to CPS - but they've been accused of child abuse. Here's the article from the Daily Mail. Written in 2019; before my time here..maybe you have all read it.

Ah yes! The “candy salad.” What was that, anyway? Is that a real thing? It was the most disgusting thing I have heard of in a long time.

Surprise. Surprise. Yet another thrifting vlog today. Not going to watch it - the title says it all - Thrifting is winning. No it's not Meghan - it may you feel happy and high for the time that you are doing it, but then you crash and become miserably unhappy again. Get some help so you can be a better parent to your kids.

I highly recommend you watch the last 15 mins. Mike addresses the “hoarding comments” that were “all in good fun” (so as not to actually upset his wife) but he agreed with the commenters. She asked him straight out if he thought she was a hoarder. He did not say no. But then A LOT of excuses about this not being the final home. And she is gonna sell a lot of it. Girl. Megan. Hunny. You could stop now and have plenty to fill up another 1300 sq ft of house when you add on. All these “treasures” for Megan, and three girls sleep in a 6x6 ft box. It embarrassing for him now. What excuse is he gonna make the next day when she is at it again. At least Sunday is off limits.

Thanks heaps for that recomendation - the last 15 mins was definitely worth watching. Mike does recognise that there is a problem, so I guess that's a start. He's still living in la-la land though - he said that Meghan doesn't like clutter - open your eyes and look at the walls in your house - they are cluttered. I also thought that it was incredibly sad when he spoke about there being nothing else to do, so they thrift. They have children that they generally ignore. They totally ignore their education. They have a daughter who can only communicate in a very limited way. They have a kid (the pyromaniac) who appears to have some significant issues. Their lives could be very full trying to deal with all of that and trying to be much better parents than they are at the moment.Care2Share wrote: ↑Sat Jan 02, 2021 3:09 pm I highly recommend you watch the last 15 mins. Re: Knorp&South: When a FINGER AMPUTATION turns into a THRIFTING COMPILATION. | Part 4
Maybe he is reading here more than we thought.
There have been a few hoarding comments in the YT video comments, but no where near as often as we discuss it here.
Megan needs help. She has to stop shopping. At first, it was furniture- it’s hard to get too much of bigger items, and she was taking the time to paint or refinish it and it was leaving the house a week or two later.
Then they opened the “store” (where she couldn’t sell enough to justify the cost), and she felt the need to accentuate it with smaller treasures. That was the downfall.
Once she had a reason to buy all the crap she saw, she started buying and never gave it a second thought. Just BUY BUY BUY.
I love going to thrift stores. Right now, I am also trying to buy items and furniture for a cabin we bought. We want to thrift as much as possible to keep the cost of fully furnishing an entire home as low as possible.
I am in thrift stores about once every 2 weeks.
Megan is in them 2-3x a day. She gets anxious and twitchy when she starts talking about them, or she has something else to do and can’t go to them.
Megan- you need to find a new hobby. Let me help you. You have 7 kids at home. Your new hobby is called “Mom”. Be a parent.

Re: Knorp&South: When a FINGER AMPUTATION turns into a THRIFTING COMPILATION. | Part 4
I watched an old video of theirs the other day - from when they were traveling in the RV. They were so different. First of all, their hair wasn't so ridiculous. Mike is such a good looking guy and he looks so unkempt now - and it's been mentioned several times that Meghan likes his hair long, so I'm sure that's why he does it. Meghan goes out of her way to NOT do what others do because that is "boring." It just is hard for me to understand how Mike lets her call all of the shots and he never seems to try to talk sense into her. Also, it has to be hard for some of the kids to hear Meghan talk down about people that tend to be more "mainstream" - not everyone has it in them to be different all of the time.
I hate how they say their kids are learning and going to be able to explore the things that they enjoy. that is fine and dandy - that is called a hobby. yes, it's possible that Esther could be a hair stylist some day or Pearl could create jewelry some day. But it could also just be hobbies that they enjoy as children. I hope that Esther makes plans to get an education or something to get away and experience the world away from the Knorpp household.
Did anyone catch the comments that Meghan and Mike made about giving up the dream of living in a tiny cottage? They are going to eventually let us in on their plans for the house, but I bet they totally take down that small house and build a giant house there. There's nothing wrong with that but the way they do things is so frustrating - no thought involved, so impulsive, and they lose interest so quickly. I just can't wait to see what unfolds next. I wonder where they will live while the house is being built. Those poor kids have had to move almost every year since the RV trip because Meghan likes change. UGH!!!

Re: Knorp&South: When a FINGER AMPUTATION turns into a THRIFTING COMPILATION. | Part 4
Mike talks about how her shopping just needs balance, and that she does not exactly have a problem. He never comes out and says “ o, you are not a hoarder,” or “No, your shopping obsessively is not an issue.”
He calls for balance.
THIS is unbalanced, Mike. THIS is an issue. She is literally sitting at home tonight watching the video of her last thrift store haul (number 8, 9 this week??), and lamenting over the items she DIDN’T buy. She is nervous, anxious, and excited to drive 70 minutes round trip to a thrift store hoping to grab all the items she forgot in the first two trips.
Her priorities right now are:
1: Thrifting to find the best treasures in all the lands, requiring at least 2-3 daily trips, 6 days a week.
2: Redecorating the house on a bi-weekly basis, using the thrifting trips as a way to justify this.
3: Painting randomly. Maybe it’s a wall, maybe it’s furniture. Maybe it’ll be something to sell. Maybe it will stay half-finished in the warehouse for another 6 months. Maybe it’s something she plans to put in “the future house.”
4: Date nights - so long as it includes going to a thrift store.
5: the kids. The kids she obsessively collected with a savior complex. The kids she now neglects endlessly. The kids she acts annoyed by on video. The kids she can’t understand.
I will say, we do not see the majority of their life together. But she posts enough on IG that we can presume most days go the same way. Thrift, get home, sort the treasures, twitch over something you should have bought and didn’t, justify going back to the same thrift store, thrift some more, drop some of it off at the warehouse, hide some of it from Mike, talk to the kids for 10-15min while making a super easy recipe that either includes frozen food, or Chic-fil-a as a choice. Walk through the house admiring all the treasures covering every wall. Talk to Mike before bed about all the stores you want to visit tomorrow. Watch videos of yourself thrifting and make notes about what you didn’t see, or wish you had bought.
Mike, rewatch early videos of your family. Of how both of you were going involved in teaching the kids, in exploring the world, of being involved in each other and the kids. Compare her behavior then, to her behavior now. Which one do you like better?
They are justifying the excessive, compulsive, obsessive shopping by claiming there simply isn’t anything else to do.
Mike, here is a list of date ideas that do NOT include going to a thrift store, and are all socially distanced. No museums, stores, movie theaters, restaurants, or bowling allies needed.
Go on a nature walk
Have a picnic
Rent a movie and have an at-home movie night
Learn a new hobby together
Have the BIL stay with the kids and go camping alone for a weekend
Go fishing together
Find a lakeside park, and watch the sunset over the water
Go hiking together
Take a walking tour of a city you have never explored
Go look at the stars
Write to your future selves
Find a book neither of you have red, and take turns reading it out loud to each other
Put a puzzle together
Have a game night
Scavenger hunt- take turns planning a scavenger hunt around areas you each want to explore
Take a long drive exploring new areas- get out and explore
Have a winter bon fire, if your local ordinances allow for it
Whatever you do, it should not include an activity Megan already does 2-3x a day. That is not a date. It’s a chore. If she can’t take a 6hr break for the two of you to spend time together connecting and working on your marriage, then you know there is an issue.

(Sorry for the blur) I have never noticed this wall somehow. How hideous. Do they have any photos of the kids or family around the house? Is this all random thrift store junk photos? Their wall looks like a damn thrift store!
