I wonder why they didn't invite Kelsey and Corbin? Kelsey can still fly and they weren't even planning to find a new apartment in Portland until January.

I completely agree. Bryan was the one that wanted this trip, and it started as a plan to go see the HP play. If the Hollisters didn't want to go, they could have stayed home and just let Bryan take his sister or someone. I think he wanted to go enough that he probably would have.honeybear wrote:To be fair, if Missy had any say on what they do, it would just be sitting in her hotel room on her phone, so.... at least Bryan is getting them out to explorefossilfinger wrote:You're right, there would be nothing wrong with it if he were the only one on the trip. But it appears that no one else but Bryan gets input on this trip. Who knows, maybe Missy and her parents just don't care and told Bryan to plan the whole trip. But from what it looks like on the vlogs, he's calling all the shots, and it doesn't look like anyone else is completely happy. He's even to some extent controlling Jeff and Natalia's vacation. It would be nice if he treated Jim and Suzanne to a nice dinner all to themselves. I'm sure that even though they love their daughter and grandkids, it's not fun to be essentially au pairs for the duration of this trip.gossipingloser wrote:Usually this board criticizes DB for being sheep and jumping on every bandwagon / not having their own personality. (I agree). But now that Bryan has organized this trip based around his actual, genuine interests, you're bitching that the trip isn't cultured enough, it isn't what you'd do, etc. It's his money and his trip... I say good on him for doing what he actually wants to do. If he had been spending the trip pretending to be knowledgeable about stuff he obviously doesn't care about just to look cool, I would have rolled my eyes.
No, I'm not a minion. I think Bryan is as obnoxious and self-centred as the next person. But I think for once, he made a good decision.

And honestly though, Bryan loves HP. It's not my thing personally, but if you love someone, wouldn't it make you feel happy to see them be so excited? I know it would for me, even if I had no interest in it. Plus they are in London FFS! How can you be so miserable damn.
Let's be real for a second here. Bryan does most of the vlogging, we assume he does the editing, he likely does the marketing (etc) and we know he's doing music. What do Missy and her family do besides take advantage of Bryan and snicker about him? The guy is a douche, and I don't particularly like him either, but the guy doesn't deserve to be patronized and used like that.
The Hollisters are miserable, awful people. They could have come up with some things to do in EU instead of just following Bryan around and mocking his enjoyment of it. That's how they keep him working so hard IMO, by making him feel like it's never good enough. I actually feel sorry for Bryan, and think the Hollisters are just lazy, opportunistic leeches.

Re: DailyFinleyPotter&TheDursleys (Part 77)
Right? They act like they are tethered to him and can't do anything on their own. If they find HP so boring why not just go do something else they enjoy? What a hard life for Missy & the clan... they are forced (!) to spend a few days in a beautiful country (that most people could only dream of visiting) while her husband explores something that makes him so obviously excited. The only thing that makes Missy happy is her parents and she already dragged them across the world, so I don't know why she's so pouty and can't just try to enjoy her time and be interested in something that makes her husband so happy.HelloSweetie wrote:

I just got back from my own eurotrip actually, and I went entirely alone. I'd like to see any of these four stooges spend more than two hours alone lol

Re: DailyFinleyPotter&TheDursleys (Part 77)
Bryan is less of an ass when he's not around Missy's family. I agree that this trip would have been nicer if he'd taken sister and maybe his mother. I wonder if they'll be around for the holidays?
Re: DailyFinleyPotter&TheDursleys (Part 77)
How close are Missy's parents related to the clothing company "Hollister"? I always wanted to ask that question. Does anybody have some more information about it?
Re: DailyFinleyPotter&TheDursleys (Part 77)
Hollister was created and is owned by Abercrombie and Fitch. it has no ties to anyone named hollister.idel73 wrote:How close are Missy's parents related to the clothing company "Hollister"? I always wanted to ask that question. Does anybody have some more information about it?

Re: DailyFinleyPotter&TheDursleys (Part 77)
I was livid when I saw Bryan encourage Ollie to chase the birds. 1) If I had taken my 3yr old son to England when I went he would have been in a stroller or holding my hand. Not chasing birds in a very public and busy area of London. 2) I taught my son to appreciate nature not terrorize defenseless animals. That being said I eat meat. I am okay with hunting for food. Bryan you are an asshat and your teaching your son to be just as foul and annoying as yourself.

For those of you who are curious of what an Asshat is here is the Urban dictionary meaning of the word;
A person, of either gender, whose behavior displays such ignorance/obnoxiousness that you would like to make them wear their own ass as a hat.

Re: DailyFinleyPotter&TheDursleys (Part 77)
I'm rolling my eyes so much at the posts on what DB are doing in Europe. Like someone else said, they are doing it all wrong. Going to the Louvre for one painting? WTF? They sure are giving Europeans a great impression of Americans. Their eating habits when they are in new places reminds me of Aspyn (Ovard-Ferris from Aspyn + Parker). I don't know if she's just a picky eater like Missy or what. Parker, Aspyn, and her mom went to Greece (last year, I think) and ate what looked like an authentic Greek restaurant. Aspyn ordered french fries. That's it. All of her meals were really simple like that. That's what you travel thousands of miles to eat?
I'm pretty much a hermit crab and introvert rolled into one. It's hard for me to start convo's with people, but if they start it I'm good. But I LOVE to people watch. Sitting at a cafe and watching people would be awesome to me. And I'm jealous and bitter they are "wasting" their trip doing what seems to equal a lot of nothing. Quick peeks at various tourist attractions then back to the hotel room for whatever American food they can find on the room service menu. I'm the genealogy geek in my family and would kill to go to Europe to hunt down locations my ancestors lived. I'd want to do touristy things too, but personally, I wouldn't pay whatever they paid for airfare and hotel just to do basic sight-seeing without really knowing what they are seeing.

Re: DailyFinleyPotter&TheDursleys (Part 77)
Who cares what they do? It's their vacation tailored around their interests. I despise Bryan but this is his vacation, unlike all the Hawaii trips centered around Missy's family. And I agree that he does all the (minimal) work between his music and the vlogs, so if having a Harry Potter themed trip to London is so important to him then who cares?
The jealousy is getting too strong here. Maybe it's not what you would all do on your London vacation, but they're not hurting anyone. It's cool that you're all so into european history, but the DBs are not. We know they're not. I'd give them flack for pretending to be.
You're all too focused on it being a "dream vacation." Maybe for you it is, but for them it's not. They're not going to do anything you'd do, because you're different people with different interests. Geez.

Re: DailyFinleyPotter&TheDursleys (Part 77)
Did Missy and Bryan just bastardize four countries food in two sentences?
Vlog: ELF AT THE TOP OF LONDON @1:41 mins.
Bryan -
''We're so excited. Every time we get Italian, so far, it's been so good. Right?'' Then, with an earnest expression, ''I think it's because we're so close to Italy that....that probably helps.'' WTF.
Missy -
''Yeah. Like the pasta is always so yummy.''
Bryan -
''Yeah. It's a lot different than American pasta. Like I think it has a lot more olive oil in it.''
Missy -
''It's super different. In America I feel like we don't really make a lot of French pasta.'' Huh?

I agree. "They are so stupid for not knowing ____ about this part of London." Major eyeroll. It's not the way that I would do a trip to London and Paris, but I don't think they are being that bad of tourists. And trust me, people from other countries can be really annoying at tourist destinations in the US too.RootBeerFloatie wrote:Who cares what they do? I have to agree! Ive skipped most of this paris/london convo because I genuinely do not care if they are doing it "wrong". If i went there i would probably be doing the same things they are, just eating more foods.RootBeerFloatie wrote:Who cares what they do? It's their vacation tailored around their interests. Re: DailyFinleyPotter&TheDursleys (Part 77)
I don't think that any of us who are being critical of the Lumps' trip are jealous or pretentious enough to say they are doing it "wrong". A lot of us have admitted (myself included) that we'd see the HP sights and studio tour, too. I can't speak for anyone else, but for me, I just see it as another squandered opportunity. They have all of the time in the world to research things beforehand, yet they appear to be googling as they go to each tourist stop. I guess not everyone is like this, but for a lot of people, a trip to London/Paris would be a huge deal, and most people would want to make the most of it. The Lumps, however, seem to be treating it like one of their many trips to Disneyland, and they aren't trying many new things. Also, Jim and Suzanne are adults, and if they want to do something other than wrangle their daughter's kids, they should stand up to her and say so. Maybe they don't want to offend their meal ticket. Who knows? None of us know the dynamic of their relationship with Missy or Bryan. What we do see is Bryan and Missy still being as narrow minded as ever, and if anything, the posters here who are being critical (again, myself included) shouldn't have been surprised that they'd spend so much time searching out so called "regular food" and chain restaurants. Someone once said to me, "If you want to know who someone really is, travel with them," and they were right! We're essentially traveling with Missy and Bryan now, and we're seeing them for who they really are: the same old unadventurous lumps on a log that they always are.

Re: DailyFinleyPotter&TheDursleys (Part 77)
I totally agree.y sister went to France and went to the village that my greatX many grandfather came from, and they were wonderful to her. When I went to Paris, I spent a whole day at the Louvre. I didn't just hunt down one painting, take a picture, and leave. I can't begrudge Bryan his Harry Potter fix, because I would be all over Stratford Upon Avon, and he does love it. But I am disgusted by the way that they are reducing everything to a pop culture reference or Disney instead of actually learning something.just_me wrote:I'm rolling my eyes so much at the posts on what DB are doing in Europe. And Bryan wouldn't say "eh" in Canada because he didn't want to be offensive, but he can do a bad fake English accent, and that's not offensive? And telling Ollie it's ok to tell people they sound funny? Guess what? YOU sound funny, Bryan, with your "ee-in" and "bu-in". Pronounce your words! No wonder the French waiter couldn't understand you!
Rant over. I'm bitter too.
